A dangerous assignment
Lena's POV
The message came through the trading bundle on a Tuesday.
I knew it was Tuesday because Kai had started giving me the day of the week each morning without explanation, like he had decided I needed anchoring to something and that was the thing he had chosen. I had not asked him to stop.
The bundle was fabric again. Three folded pieces of cloth sent through the neutral trading route that Sofia had established in the first week.
I had been checking every delivery since the last message and this was the third bundle and the second with anything inside it.
I found the paper in the same place. Inner lining same fold pattern same careful hands.
