"Why did you come to our house?" My i***t of a brother asked me. He's always teasing me. "I'm more welcomed here than you are. You idiot." Is my smart reply . "Oops!" Feenah almost shouted staring behind me. I don't need to turn to know who the intruder is. "Jidda" she whispered. "Tell me it's Adeel." "He's always sneaking." And I was right. When I turned he is standing there in all his tall glory. "Is that how you receive your husband?" I frowned and pulled my skirt down. "I came to pick you up." "I know you didn't come to spend the night." "Ina wuni" feenah greeted him and he answered. My i***t of a brother moved and they shook hands greeting. "I am her brother. We didn't get to meet during the wedding I was away. " "Nice meeting you." Adeel answered. He moved closer to my ear pretending to Whisper. "So this is the poor guy that got stuck with your troublesome and stubborn self." "You are intentionally being loud." I glared at my brother. And all of them began to laugh including Adeel. In my case I don't find anything funny. "Take him to greet dad. I'll get ready by the time you come to greet mom." They went towards my dad's guest living room and I went with feenah. "He has come to pick her up." She announced to to the entire people in the living room. "Go pack your things. Have the girls take the food out." My mom stated looking at me. See who's telling me pack your things and go. I pouted and went to get ready. When I came back Ahmed is sitting in the living room with my brother. "Where's mom? " "She went out. They already greeted." "Is the car locked?" I ask Adeel. "Nope it's not." "Okay." I went out and and had the basket placed at the back seat. We said bye to everyone and I was getting emotional when we left. "So how's today?" He asked eyes on the road. "The best in forever." I answered. "That should be your wedding day." "Huh seriously!!" "When you want to go to your parents you can always tell me okay?" "Really! Is he seriously." "Really." "Can I go tomorrow then?" I asked turning to look at him. "You went today. No." "You just deceived me." "What? I didn't deceive you." "But you just did." "But you are just coming back from there. " "Is our home that bad?" He's now frowning with a serious face. "No it's not that bad." "You can go another time. " "Thank you." You're not the worst. "So you think I'm the worst?" he asked faking hurt. "I'm not talking to you. " "Then who are you talking to?" "Myself. Who else?" "You always talk to yourself anyway". "What does that mean? So now I'm mad? Just now I almost thought you are a gentle man." He chuckled and turned to look at me. It's so beautiful to see him carefree and at ease. "Cute." He mumbled. Did he just call me cute? I turned to the window attempting not to smile. Wait. Why am I affected just because he called me cute. I pouted frowning. When I turned to look at him his brow creased as he gave me a confused look. I raised and eyebrow in question and he busted out laughing like he had the joke of the year. "What are you laughing at?" "Don't do that again please." "It's my face I can do what ever I want mister. "I started making expressions in my face. "It's mine." He smirked. "And who gave you?" He ignored me and focused on the street. "Moody.. "I mumbled and turned to my side. Silence fell through out the rest of the ride. I lowered the window glass allowing the gentle breeze wash over my face until it started getting strong. In just a moment the weather has completely changed. By the time we reached home it has started raining. I quickly opened the door and ran back to the car to get the door. Adeel started shouting over the increasing rain asking me what I was trying to do. I quickly took the basket out and he rushed collecting it from me. We entered the house droplets of water tailing behind us. By the time I changed and cleaned up the mess we made. I found Adeel taking Plates from the kitchen. He has changed into a black T-shirt and wash out jeans that makes him look attractive. "What are you doing?" I narrowed my eyes at him. He grinned like a child who was given his favorite candy. It made me laughed. His brow furrowed in a frown and he gave me a confused look. "What?" "Have you lost your hearing you man?" I asked imitating his voice. "Don't do that and I don't sound like that." He shook his head as if getting rid of the sound. "I'm going to eat the food." "The food?" I raised my brow with my hand on my hip. "The one you brought me of course." "And who said its yours?" "Who said its not mine?" He smirked. I tried to contain my smile. He moved to the dinning serving himself with both rice and macaroni. "You can join me you know?" "As if," I mumbled as I went to pick my plate. We ate in silence occasionally peaking at each other. "Mother sure knows how to cook. " "What makes you think my mom cooked it?" "I just know." Big head "We all know my head is beautiful." "Since when is a head beautiful?" "Since mine was. " And he said I'm a baby "I heard that." I gave him a sweet innocent smile. He gazed at me. And my eyes got caught in the look he was giving me. I wonder what is going in that head of his. The ringing of his phone cut off what ever trance we were in as he went to pick it. "Hello?" He called into the phone. After listening to the other side he cut it off and rushed out of the living room leaving me confused. And he came back with a dripping Usman. He is soaking from head to toe. I gave him a confused look wondering what the urgent matter is. "Is ummu alright? What happened to her? Is she giving birth?" Panic! "Macaroni. "He stated. "What?" Both Adeel and I asked simultaneously. "Macaroni" he repeated running his hands through his hair. His mind is completely elsewhere. Adeel peaked a look at me as if to confirm if we are seeing the same thing. "What is wrong with macaroni Usman?" I asked him like I would a baby. "She wants macaroni. We didn't have it since she normally doesn't eat it and now she's throwing a fit saying I didn't love her enough that's why I intentionally didn't bought it and she'll die if she doesn't eat it." He rambled. "I left her crying do you have one?" The shops are closed due to the rain. We burst out laughing and he gave us and annoyed look. "We have cooked one but I'll pack the another in case she doesn't want the way we cooked it." I quickly packed it into a small basket. Adeel collected it and handed it to Usman laughing. "Good luck man" he teased. But Usman is the least amused. He dashed to the door. "Wait until your wife gets pregnant" he yelled before disappearing. And what the heck I turned to look at Adeel. He looks different from the smiling carefree Adeel a minute ago. His face is stoic and cold. He closed and opened his orbs that are now darker. Anger seeping through him. Its like the Adeel I first met all over again. He walk away to his room slamming the door behind him.
