Chapter Eighteen

"Why are you just standing there? You're his right hand, so go help him!" She yelled at Blaine and he widened his eyes, dashing off after him and making me want to do so as well. "I can't believe they f*****g lost them. Axel really needs better sidekicks, cause Blaine and Danny just aren't cutting it," she sighed in annoyance and Wayne seemed to be still collecting himself from what was said, nodding in much delay to her words. "Alpha Axel will find them, just give him a few hours at most," he replied, recollecting himself fully before heading toward the opened doorway and stopping, "oh, and you're free to go," was all he said, returning to his walk which left the two of us standing here. That's when the red lights turned off and everything returned to normal. "So... do you want to hangout with me?" She grinned, not at all concerned about the fact that Axel and Blaine are currently out risking their lives. Is she that certain they'll make it back? She clearly doesn't know how evil Jade is. I nodded and she snatched my hand, dragging me out of the room and through the halls before exiting the building all together. "We can get to know each other and play some games! I'll see what Whitney is up to if you're fine with her joining! This is going to be fun!" She grinned, pulling me along into the large mansion I vaguely remember. It wasn't as crowded as it was before. I looked at everyone while we passed, noticing they bowed their heads when we came into view and kept them down until we walked past. "Oh s**t," I heard her mumble just as we came to a halt and I stumbled into her. "Hello, Gabbie!" A sweet voice greeted, earning a growl out of her. "Carly," she replied bitterly, sliding over to shield me from direct contact with the beautiful woman. "This is our lovely Luna, isn't it?" She asked, averting her gaze to me and smiling brightly. Her lips were covered in matte black, her eyelids were a sparkly white fading into a black, her lashes were thick and very long, and her black, silky straight hair came down to her hips. Her skin is lighter than most girls I've seen so far, which makes the black stand out much more. It's definitely her color. "Quit the act," Gabbie growled, narrowing her eyes at her, "Axel told you to stay away from her, don't be an idiot." "You're very beautiful," I intervened, watching them turn their heads to look at me. Carly's neutral expression lit up, her mouth forming a huge smile as Gabbie grimaced with a scoff. "Aww! Aren't you just the sweetest? Hey, what do you say I give you a makeover? Then you can go hangout with her," she continued to grin while Gabbie shook her head. "Absolutely not. Let's just go," she tried to pull me but I stood my ground, frowning. "Awesome! Come on," Carly snatched me away and threw a smile over her shoulder as we walked off. "You're a fake b***h!" Gabbie snapped, causing us to stop and Carly whipped around with a glare, releasing my wrist to cross her arms. "Excuse me?" She snarled and Gabbie approached us, getting up in her face and looking down at her. She faltered a bit, however, they each remained in their spots, glaring back and forth. "I will kick your spoiled ass," she growled, shoving Carly's chest and making her stumble back. She scoffed in response, slight fear flashing her eyes for only a brief second, "you're just saying that to scare me because you're an Alpha's sister, you wouldn't actually—" "You want to find out?" She interrupted. Carly widened her eyes and stepped back, pulling her phone out and shoving it in her face. "I wouldn't if I were you! Axel won't let you! He loves me! See!" She panicked and Gabbie ripped the phone out of her hands, her face paling. "Oh, Axel, you f*****g moron..." she groaned, disappointment filling her face, "you told me you didn't mess around..." she muttered under her breath. I frowned and looked at the phone, scrunching my eyebrows at the picture of Carly laying on a shirtless man. "That's not Axel," I corrected. She whipped her head to look up at me, confusion filling her face and a flash of horror crossed Carly's expression. "Axel has dimples," I analyzed the picture, squinting, "and he's more tan than that. His abs are also more defined than that, and his lips—" Carly's angry screech cut me off and I swallowed my words with wide eyes, fear tightening my vocal chords as I stepped back. She yanked her phone away and stomped her foot, glaring directly at me as if I've done something wrong. I was simply correcting her mistake, why is she so angry? I don't like being wrong either, but I never throw a fit over it. "Guess what, little human, we've all seen his abs! You're not special! In fact, that just shows how pathetic you are, knowing every miniature detail about him—you're literally obsessed!" She shrieked, her eyes flashing a darker shade of violet and I looked away, tears filling my eyes. "Say another word about her and I promise you, you won't like what'll happen!" Gabbie defended and I looked up at them, latching my glassy eyes onto the angry girls just as Whitney appeared out of nowhere and stepped between the two. "Woah, what's going on here? Take it easy," she shot each of them a look then pushed them further apart. The more space she put between them, the better I felt. "This f*****g w***e is sleeping with Calix!" Gabbie growled in response and her eyes widened, her mouth falling agape as she turned to Carly. "Does Axel know?" "Obviously not! He banned him from the pack, if he knew I had any correspondence with a rogue he'd ban me as well," Carly rolled her eyes, her tone coming out snidely as if they were supposed to know that. "Is that so?" Gabbie smirked, receiving a glare and Whitney cleared her throat to grab each of their attention before the tension returned. "Enough!" She stated firmly, "Carly," she paused, looking over at her, "if you continue to talk to him, Axel will be made aware, or if you continue to treat our Luna in such a nasty way, he will also be made aware. Is that clear?" She didn't wait for response, averting her attention to Gabbie, "and you," she paused, "you need to control that temper of yours. I get it's because of your Alpha blood, but seriously, just calm yourself. You can get very scary." "Who's Calix?" I finally had the nerve to ask hesitantly, then feeling myself blush immensely when the three of them turned to look at me simultaneously. "I don't think Axel would—" "I'm Calix," a new voice entered the conversation and it was spine-chilling, not in the good way like Axel's either. "What the hell are you doing here? If Axel finds out you—" Gabbie started, but he pretended to zip his mouth which made her go quiet. "Neither him or Blaine are here right now, are they? Would you really snitch on me, Gabs? Let's be real," he chuckled, patting her cheek and making her droop her head with a growing blush of embarrassment. "I invited him when I saw that they were leaving," Carly chimed in, smiling warmly, and he turned his attention to her before his gaze finally landed on me for the first time. I froze, knowing those piercing yellow eyes from anywhere. Come to think of it, he looked nearly identical to Axel, except he gave off bad vibes that made me very uneasy. "My my, who is this beauty?" He smirked, stepping closer and making me flinch by bringing his fingers up to my hairline, his fingertips outlining my face and brushing away the hair to reveal more of it. My heart raced as he reached my jaw and ended beneath my chin, using his index finger to push it up so we were looking straight on and I instantly felt paralyzed with fear. He has a small scar over his bottom lip. He also has a huge scar starting on his left cheek and ending an inch over his right eyebrow. The wound crossed the bridge of his nose, it looked like it ran deep and was excruciating. The damaged tissue was even sunken in, appearing pale compared to the rest of his olive complexion. It created a slit in his eyebrow where hair didn't appear to grow because of it. The scar emphasized the intimidation behind his seemingly dead eyes, the yellow in his irises also swirled with a cold, murderous glint that Axel's silver ones didn't have. "Don't touch her!" I broke out of my trance only to realize his face was much closer than before, our noses brushing over one another just as his hand was knocked off my chin and he was shoved back by none other than Gabbie herself. "You've never cared about who I played with, Gabs, what's your deal?" He scoffed, turning to glare at her and receiving nothing but silence before he came to a quick realization, "unless..." he trailed off, turning to look back at me as a massive grin suddenly overtook his partially scarred lips, "she's Axel's." "Don't, Calix! Just leave! If he returns to find you here, he will finish what was started years ago, but if he finds out you were also going after his mate... you'll be wishing he'd finish it," she growled, shoving against his chest and he shot her a death glare that made me shiver, goosebumps tickling my skin out of terror. The silence was tense and she fearlessly got up in his face, her next words coming out laced with venom. "And we both know he'll have you in submission within the first minute—hell, maybe even give you a new scar to add to the collection of all your other failures." I was fully expecting him to attack her judging by the pure rage in his eyes, yet he only clenched his jaw and snapped his gaze to mine. It felt like he was silently saying something, then he turned and walked off with a final glare toward her. Well, that wasn't unnerving... "Ugh! You're such a b***h!" Carly wailed, running after him and calling out his name. Whitney breathed a sigh a relief, rubbing Gabbie's arm who was now visibly shaking and slightly pale. I frowned, approaching her and rubbing her other arm to try to soothe her. "I'm so sorry, you weren't supposed to ever meet him," she said shakily, flashing me a sorrowful look, "he's such a manipulative, arrogant, sadistic, hateful, selfish man." "Let's go play a game or something, we can make a bunch of snacks. Let's just forget he even exists," Whitney suggested cautiously and Gabbie nervously grinned, nodding ferociously then grabbing our arms and dragging us down the hall. "Dibs on my room!" Gabbie cheered, forgetting all about previous events, and continuing to drag us down the hallway until we entered a gorgeous bedroom on the end. "I'll grab snacks! You two find something," she released us then twirled around and left the room without stopping once. She has a lot of energy, though she still looks pretty shaken up. I wonder what that Calix man has done to make her so uneasy. "So you seem fairly comfortable here already," Whitney spoke, tearing my gaze from the door to her. I nodded and she took my hand, pulling me onto the bed with her. They haven't given me any reason not to be, and gave me every reason to be. "H-How do I-I express my liking t-toward someone?" I stuttered nervously, keeping my tone low out of embarrassment and my cheeks filled with heat. "Rule of thumb, don't ever feel obligated to do something just to please them. Never make yourself uncomfortable for someone else, and if they allow you to do so, then that shows the type of person they are and they need to be cut off," she answered, softly grabbing my hand and smiling faintly. "Just do what feels right, Luna. A person who truly deserves it won't pressure you into anything you aren't ready to do. There isn't a right or wrong way to express yourself because everyone does it differently," she added, giving my hand a small squeeze, "do you get what I'm saying?" I nodded, the both of us looking over as Gabbie entered the room with a pile of food in her arms. Her face was hidden behind the stack and I was confused as to how she didn't hit anything on the way in here. She carelessly came over and released the pile between me and Whitney, revealing a frosted bagel that was halfway in her mouth while she wore a huge grin. She then shoved it in her mouth and made her cheeks pop out, not even chewing yet when she decided to emit a muffled yell. "Girls night!"
