TuckerFood Truck Tuesday was getting ready to wrap up and the last band was on stage playing.
“Hey man, give me a second. I’ll be right back.”
Isaak looked around and saw the reason for my urgency.
“Go get her dude.”
“Thanks man!”
I caught sight of Tess standing by the restroom by herself and figured it was my one shot to talk to her. I knew she was engaged, but I had to give it a shot.
She’s not married yet. Damn, I sound like a douchebag.
“How was your ice cream?”
She jumped.
“Oh, hey Tucker. It was pretty good.”
“Look, I know you’re engaged or whatever, I’m not trying to mess with that. I’m new to town and just looking for new friends to hang out with. Maybe we could go get some ice cream sometime. I keep hearing about this stuff called Italian ice, that’s supposed to be phenomenal. Maybe you could show me a few sights around town?”
“Tucker, you seem like a nice guy and all, but I don’t need any new friends.”
“Alright, my fault. I apologize. I hope you have a good night.”
“Thanks. You too!”
“It was nice to see you again, Miss Tess. Your fiancé is a lucky man. See you around.”
I walked off dejected.
Well, that was a damn bust.
