“Okay, do you have everything?” my best friend Lindi asked.
“I think so.”
“Okay, let’s go through the list. Something blue?”
“Yep, my matching bra and panties,” I laughed.
“Something borrowed?”
“Mom lent me her diamond earrings.”
“Something new?”
“Dress, shoes, wedding night lingerie...”
“Okay, okay. And something old?”
My hand instinctively gripped my opal necklace as my mind drifted to the piece of paper stuffed in my bridal corset. A letter written to me by the love of my life. A letter that was tear-stained and slightly tattered from the amount of times that I had read it, a bittersweet reminder of my sweet Tucker.
“Tess. Tess!”
“Huh?”
“Do you have something old?”
“Oh, yea, my hair comb, it belonged to my great-grandmother. It’s been passed down.”
“It’s beautiful.”
“I think you’re ready, are you ready?”
I exhaled.
“As ready as I’ll ever be.”
