Chapter 1

I was a beauty of sore eyes but that didn't mean a thing. I hardly got a long with anyone really. But there were a few. My father ruled the coven of the vampire's and the same with my mother with her pack of wolves. No one really ruled the witches until my one aunt had came into town when I was younger. My vampire aunt and uncle helped my father keep the vamps in check from time to time, no feeding on humans in town. If they wanted blood, they would have to go catch a deer or two or even steal some blood bags from our local hospital. Some of the locals around knew about us, but didn't bother us. Me, I was the top of the high Council, since I was a faction of all three and since I was 16 everyone listened to me. Basically, I was their queen. And since I was still 16, I had to still go to school and that was somewhat weird for me. I didn't really like being around a lot of people because of what I was. "Hope, you have to come to the school dance with me." Sarah had whined to me. Sarah had knocked me out of my thoughts. But glad she did, I went into that state where I was thinking no one liked me because what I was. Sarah was a 15 year old human girl, she knew what I was and wasn't afraid. She was only a few of the humans in this school that knew and she was one of my best friends. "Sarah, stop whining. You know I'll be there, I'm the one that's in charge of it. I'm decorating the gym for us. Just ask a boy to be your date." I told her as I was putting some of my books in my locker from my bag. "But I don't wanna." She whined again. Sarah was of course gorgeous, with long strawberry blonde hair, the bluish blue eyes, a tan tone body. She was every guys dream. Or girls, but I didn't want to be like that with her. She was my BFF and I didn't want to f**k up what we had. I started giggling at her. She always hit my heart when she didn't want to do things her way half the time or even mind, partly. "Sarah, stop." A boy had said. It was Ethan, the star of the football team, and werewolf. He was one of my other best friends. And had a huge crush on me since time begun. Well since the 4th grade. And he's only 16 years old. He kissed me on the cheek when he got to me. Of course I smiled. He was a total hottie and all the girls drooled over him. I mean, just look at him. He's tall, tan, all toned out with muscles and abs. Had sandy brownish blonde hair, with hazel eyes. What's not to like about him. "Hey," I said as I closed my locker. "Hey, so speaking of the dance you want to be my date." He had asked me. I turned to look at him and thought. "Speaking of dates, why don't you two go as friends." I had said. They both looked at each other then at me and laughed. "What? I'm serious y'all. I'm not gonna be dancing hardly at all. I have to make sure that some of the kids behave." I had whispered the last part. Ethan rolled his eyes at me. "Okay, and you can at least enjoy the dance. How about this, Sarah you get ready at Hope's house for the dance and I'll talk Caleb into joining us four. We'll have a four sum yo." Caleb, 16 year old, was the last of the best friend squad. He was a vampire, but a very awesome funny one too. He was dark skinned with the truest black hair ever and the cutest brown eyes ever. I like to call him my dark chocolate buddy. He gets a kick out of it. He calls me his cinnamon swirl bun, because I have long brown hair with blonde streaks in my hair with brown eyes with a hint of blue to them. My mother says I'm lucky about my eyes, they are rare. And I saw why. When I first turned when I was 13 years old, I had saw my reflection in some water and to be honest I look more like a huge black and white husky than a wolf with one brown eye and the other blueish white eye. Anyways, Sarah and I had lost it. After a few seconds of Ethan saying what he said, he had joined in the little joke he had said. After awhile, we all had went to the café and grabbed lunch. Once we were in line talking about the dance, when Caleb had vamped over to the line in front of me, kissing me and Sarah on the cheeks. "Hello my crazy peeps." He had said in a crazy tone. He always tries to be funny and sometimes it works. "Hey, so I was talking to the girls about the dance Friday after the game. How about us four go as a four sum." He said then started laughing again. "Ethan it was funny the first time now stop." Sarah had said. "Sure, I'm down to a four sum." Caleb said laughing as well. I slapped my hand on my face and shook my head. This is not gonna go away until after the dance. "So, we said that you and I pick them up at Hope's place after the game and bring them to the dance. Deal." Ethan told Caleb. "Oh hell yea! I can't wait to beat the hell out of the Raven's." Caleb said. Caleb was another star of the football team. He was a wide receiver while Ethan was the quarterback. Sarah and I were their cheerleaders, and I was the captain and Sarah was the co-captain. After we got our lunch, we had went to our table. As we were eating, we were still talking about the dance on Friday. "Well since we're all going together. How about tonight after school," Sarah started to say. "We can't, we all have practice after school." I had said. "How about after practice then. We can go into town and look for our dresses and you guys y'alls tuxedos." She had said. "Sounds good to me," the boys said. "I'll drive us there, since I'm the only one that can drive here." I had said. "Hey, I can drive. I just don't have my car right now." Caleb said. "My stupid wrecked my car last weekend." "Mines, in the shop getting touched up." Ethan said. "Well I'm still grounded from mine. Thanks to Caleb's brother." "Hey, Jimmy didn't mean to get you in trouble." Caleb stood up for his brother that was the same age as Sarah as well. "What happened with you two again?" I had asked. "Remember that party, that I had told you about at the Stonewall's place. Well, I told my parents that I was going over to Jimmy and Caleb's house to study and well short story is Jimmy wanted to go over there after we were done so we went and guess who caught us." She had asked. "Elektra?" I had said. Elektra was Sarah's step sister also a witch. She's cool when you don't piss her off or when she wants her way sometimes. She was 17 years old, had the reddest hair ever like it was on fire and with cold dark brown eyes. They could look black if you really look at them. "Why was she even there?" Caleb asked. "Well she is dating Dustin Stonewall, Caleb." Ethan said. "Well damn." He said shaking his head. "I hate his family. Always gotta be all witchy washy." We all started laughing at that. God he knows how to make us laugh. After we ate our lunches, the bell rung and we all went to our classes. By the time, it was 2:30, school had ended and we all went to our after school practices. The boys went to football and us girls went to cheerleading. Practice was somewhat short, the coaches didn't want us to strain ourselves before the big night, which is only two days away. So, as soon as we all took a shower, we had left. As we got into town, we went into the dress bridal stop. That is where the boys could get their tuxedos and while they were fitting them on, Sarah and I looked around at the dresses. "Hope?" She said. "Yea," "Why don't you give Ethan the time of day. He's been in love with you since y'all were like 8 years old." She had brought up. "I don't know. He's my best friend and I don't want to mess that up. Just like with you." I had said softly. "Wait what?" She had asked. "Nothing." I said. "No, I heard you Hope. Do you have a crush on me?" She had asked me as she grabbed my hand. "Sarah," I started to say but the boys had interrupted us. "Well what do y'all think?" Ethan asked. "Wow, y'all look nice." I had said to them. "Yea, really nice." Sarah said as well. "I know there a couple hundred dollars but you can't beat it. I mean I can reuse this tuxedo for all the other dances or even my wedding." Caleb had said. We started laughing a little with him. "Are you sure your even gonna get married?" Sarah had said. "You won't even give a time of day to any of the girls at school." She added. "Well that's because I have my eyes on someone already." He had said. "Wait who?" I had asked. "Not saying." He said then looked right at Sarah. What no way. Please tell me I didn't just see that right. Caleb has a crush on Sarah. After they paid for their tuxedos, we had went to another dress shop that was down the street from the bridal shop. Sarah and I tried on almost every dress there was until we found the right one. I had found the cutest blue strapless dress and blue heels. Sarah had found a black and red dress with black heels. Once we had paid for them, I had dropped the boys off at their homes and bought Sarah over to my place so she could hang up her dress and heels. She didn't want her sister stealing her dress and shoes, which I didn't blame her. "Hope, back at the shop," she started to say as I were driving her home. "I heard what you said. Do you have a crush on me?" She had asked. I looked over at her for a moment. "Sarah," "No Hope tell me please." She pleaded. I sighed. "Yes, I do. Ever since I met you in the 6th grade." I told her. "Technology, we met before that." She had said. "Huh," I had said. "We met in the 2nd grade just never really talked. You were a very shy girl then. Kinda still are." Sarah had told me. I looked away from her, to look back at the road. I started blushing a little, thinking about she was saying. Yes I am a shy person, kinda have to be when I don't know what people are gonna say about what I am. I didn't say anything about what we were talking about until I pulled up at her place. "Hope, your my best friend." "Sarah, that's why I haven't said a word about it. 'Cause you are my best friend. My bestest friend that I could ever ask for and I don't want to mess that up with you. With what I am, I don't want to hurt you." I had told her. I wasn't even looking at her while I was saying that. I had tighten my hands on my steering wheel. Nervous as I can be at this moment, since she had brought all this up. She had leaned over in her seat closer to me and touched my face. She made me look at her. As I turned my head to look at her, she had hopeful eyes. Like she was wanted me to do something but I didn't. "Hope, don't be like that. I've known what you were since I met you in grade school and I have never been scare. Yes, I don't like what you do but you have to do it." She was saying. I was lost in her eyes, they kept me where I was. "You do it to keep the town sane, from killing each other. And that's why I like you. You are my best friend and will always be my best friend no matter what happens." As she says that, she leans over and kisses me on the lips. It felt like magic was moving through us. It felt amazing. As I had kissed her back, I didn't want to stop. I wanted to turn my car back around and head home and pull her up to my room and do things to her but I had to stop myself. As I pulled away from her, I smiled at her and placed a hand on her face. "I don't want to lose you." I whispered. "You won't." She whispers back. We kissed one last time then she got out and head inside. As I watched her go inside the house, I had drove home. Once I got home, I parked the car in the garage, and went up to my room. "Ally!" I heard my mother call me from the living room. I rolled my eyes and vamped to where she was at. "Yes, mother?" I said. "So, how was school and practice?" She had asked. "Good." I said as I sat on the arm rest of the couch. "So this Friday, is the game and the dance are you going?" My aunt Carrie asked. "Well yea, I'm in the game well kinda. I'm the captain of the cheerleading squad. And Ethan, Caleb, Sarah, and I are going to the dance together after the game. The boys are picking us up here." I had said. "Ooouu, do you have your dress?" Aunt Carrie asked getting excited. "Yes, they are in my closet." "I wanna see." She had asked. "No, you can see what the time comes. And don't you even try to go in there behind my back I put a spell on them. Only I can see." I had said as she went to get up and vamp up there but she stopped at the stair case. "Damnit!" All you hear from my aunt saying still going upstairs. Me and my mother started laughing. "Well good night mother. I'm going to bed, I'm tired." I told her as I got up. "Good night sweetie." She had said. I got up and went to the stairs and slowly walked up the stairs. When I walked passed my fathers art room, I saw him drawing something. I didn't say a word until he had spoke. "Hope, stop spying on me now." He had said smiling. "Sorry, father." I had said. "Shouldn't you be going to bed? It is a school night." "Yes, father. I was on my way to my room to go to bed." I had said. "Good night, sweetie." "You too, father." As I walked passed, I had changed out of my clothes and put on my night clothes and got into bed. I flicked my fingers together and my radio had came on playing what station I had left on. The song that came on, made me think of what I had said to Sarah about us. Or me liking her or the other way around. Soon after, I had fell asleep.
