Anna’s pov Just when I thought I was going to fall to my death with all my achievements and expectations, my dreams, oh grandma! I can’t begin to imagine the pain she’ll go through, my whole life flashed before my eyes, just then I saw a shadow moving towards me, I couldn’t see his face; I was seared that my lungs seized as I watched him approach, his eyes promising doom. “Take my hand,” he said with a smile that made me question every motive behind it. “Don’t think twice if you want to live.” Knowing my life hung in the balance, I took his hand fully aware that this choice might be the one that destroys me. Will he be my saviour… or my demon? SLAM! The echo of a slamming door woke me up from my restless sleep. “Oh it was just a dream,” I muttered, sitting up. But my eyes adjusted, I froze. This wasn’t my room. The air felt different. The sheets smelled unfamiliar but the cologne, I loved it. “Whose room… is this?” A voice came from behind me. “It’s mine. Do you like it? Or is it not to your liking?” I whipped around. As he stood by the doorway, calm, composed, dangerously unreadable with his gray colored eyes which made him mysterious. His face was perfect that I could choke on my words so I stayed silent Only to realize I was wearing someone else’s white shirt. His. My mind raced. “I… how did I end up here?” He said to me with a cold tone “I saved you from falling off the bridge last night.” placing a cup of coffee on the table. “So I expect some appreciation. He sighed. “If I wanted to hurt you, I don’t need to come close.” His gaze hardened. “I thought you were smarter than that.” My throat tightened. Still shaking, as I managed to whisper, “Thank you.” It felt like my whole world was collapsing. I had enemies ruthless ones but an assassination attempt? That meant something bigger was happening. I asked, trying to steady my trembling voice. “I go by different names,” he said, glancing at the mirror and admiring his reflection. “But you can call me Miguel.” And what… exactly are you? Miguel’s lips curled into a smirk. “I’m a demon.” Just then I burst into laughter loud, unexpected, even my own ears won’t believe it. A demon? Seriously, Miguel? Hah… I can’t remember the last time I laughed this hard. Miguel’s expression hardened, he’s stunned. “Do I look like a joke to you?” he asked, staring straight into my eyes as if trying to read my very soul. But then his eyes widened. He staggered back. “It can’t be” he whispered. “Why can’t I see through you?” I frowned looking confused . “I don’t understand what you mean.” “I can’t see or hear your thoughts…… you…..I’ve never… not been able to read someone.” I think I should go now, I said softly. “Thank you for saving me. Can I borrow your phone? I need to call my secretary.” Still confused, Miguel reached into his pocket and handed me his phone. I quickly left the room to call Sofia, my secretary, who was worried about me. RINGING……. Sofia, it’s Anna “Anna what happened? I was worried sick. I am fine Sofia, for now! I need you to come pick me up at the address am going to send to you and I will need you to get me a dress ASAP. Just as I was walking to the dining room, Miguel walked up to me and ask “who are you?” I am Anna Smith, CEO of luxury brand, before I could finish my sentence, Nathaniel whispered something to Miguel. “ Are you really the famous Anna aka the little devil?” Nathaniel asked with curiosity. The look on his face seems like he’s heard stories of me and just waiting to confirm my identity. I said yes, not surprised by my nickname; stretching my hand forward for a hand shake. Sofia handed the dress she got for me without hesitation I rushed to get ready. Miguel still lost in his thoughts figuring why he can’t hear or see through me. As soon I finished dressing I went downstairs to meet Sofia just then Nathaniel called “Anna are you leaving already?” Yes, I replied Nathaniel. I didn’t know the universe has other plans for Miguel and I, I guess that was the beginning of our journey together. “Good morning ma’am” Cris,my driver greeted me.
