Chapter 16

Spa Day Lennox I load our bags into my Tahoe and prepare for the short drive back to the pack house, back to reality. I have very mixed feelings about going back today. On the one hand I can’t wait to tell my family and my pack that I have found my mate; To introduce them to Everlee. I just know that Black River is going to accept her and help me protect her. But I’m also extremely nervous about others finding out about my fairy Luna. If Everlee is nervous about it, she is hiding it well. Even with our bond I only feel a tiny bit of nervous jitters coming from her and that could be because she can feel how incredibly nervous I am. “Are you ok, Lennox? You seem a bit… distracted.” She brushes my shoulder and the tingle her touch left starts to soothe my nerves. I take a deep breath and hug her, letting the scent of summer rain envelop my senses. “I’m perfect. Though I must admit, I’m not keen on the fact that I’m going to have to share you with the rest of the pack now. I’ve so enjoyed having you all to myself.” I place a soft kiss on her forehead and move to open the car door for her. “While I agree it’s been wonderful having so much privacy, I am excited to meet your family, and the pack. I hope they accept me.” “Everlee, they are going to love you. I have no doubt.” I lean across her to buckle her seatbelt, just like the day we left. It feels like so much longer than just seven days ago. This time there is no hesitation, I take her face in my hands and kiss her. “Trust me, you have nothing to worry about. Black River pack is going to be nothing less than ecstatic that their Luna has been found. You are about to be overwhelmed with the affection and adoration of about 400 wolves, including my mother, who I’m sure is chomping at the bit, waiting for us to arrive. If I had to guess, Gamma Violette and my mother have your whole day planned to help you prepare for your Luna ceremony tomorrow.” She smiles and I kiss her nose and retreat before lust takes us over and we end up really late. Everlee The ride back is a lot more comfortable than the one to the cabin. Lennox drives with one hand and holds my hand in the other. It’s hard to stop myself from staring at my gorgeous mate, his long dark hair, hangs perfectly around his strong jaw, his beard has filled out quite a bit over the last week, and I have to admit, I’m a fan of this rugged look, the biggest fan actually. “Lennox, is being mated like being married? Like, is my last name still Green?” I’m not exactly sure what answer I’m hoping for, being Lennox’s wife is obviously ok with me, but do werewolves have weddings, or do they just, have s*x, bite each other and BAM! Wifey! “While the concept is similar, mating is actually way more than marriage. Mating is for life, there is no “divorce” for mates. A rejection at this point would mean death for a wolf. Some wolves do choose to get married, especially if they are mated to a human or do a lot of business with humans. Having a marriage license makes things easier when dealing with them. They ask less questions. As far as your name goes, that is completely up to you, love.” I think about it for a minute, do I want a wedding? Should I change my name without a wedding. “I think I’ll keep my name, for now. I just… I keep thinking about my family. I knew when I left, we would be apart for all my big life events. I can’t even say for sure if they are alive. It’s just hard to sever the last tie I have to them.” “Love, you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to. If your last name being Green instead of King feels right to you, then keep it. It doesn’t make you any less my mate. Your happiness is more important to me than a name.” We pull up to the pack house and I take a deep breath. “Are you ready, Luna?” “Ready when you are, Alpha.” “Everlee Green, I’ve been ready for this moment my entire life.” He gets out and runs around the car to open my door. As he does an older couple comes outside and stands at the top of the stairs with Zeke. I assume this has to be Lennox’s parents, the former Alpha and Luna, Clinton and Sophia King. His father is just as muscular as Lennox, his hair and beard have grayed but he is still a handsome man, and he has a presence you can’t help but notice, just like Lennox, it must be an Alpha thing. I brace myself for their reaction but the only one who looks confused is Zeke. Did Zeke tell them I am a fairy? I look up at Lennox to see the distanced look in his eyes. He is mind linking someone. Everlee “What’s going on? Do they know? They don’t look surprised that I’m blue. And obviously NOT a wolf!” Lennox “Zeke says you look the same as when we met him. You’re not blue, your hair is blonde. And since we are mated, you smell, like a mated wolf, nothing more.” We both are in shock. Only he can see my fairy features? What about my wings? Not that I’m going to whip them out to see what happens, but I’m curious if they can see them or not. We walk up the steps holding hands, the closer we get, the bigger Sophia’s smile grows. She flings her arms around me the second we reach the top. “Oh, I’m so happy to finally meet you! She is beautiful Lennox! You are beautiful Everlee! Oh! I’m just so happy! My baby finally has his Luna!” With that she gives Lennox a big hug and starts to cry. She is gorgeous, much taller than me, but shorter than the guys, and when she looks up I see the same stunning green eyes that Lennox has. He definitely looks like her. Sophia’s soft curls have grayed but it doesn’t seem to age her much. “Haha, please excuse my wife, she gets a bit hysteric when it comes to our boy. It’s very nice to meet you, my dear. We are all so happy Lennox has found his mate.” Clinton shakes my hand and winces as Sophia smacks his chest. “I’m not hysterical! It’s a big deal Clinton! Anyway, come along, dear, we have so much to do today! Violette and I have made us appointments in town to prepare for your big day tomorrow! I am sorry to pull her away from you honey, but I assure you, it will be worth it, when you see her tomorrow.” I glance up at Lennox and he has an amused “I told you so” look on his face. He kisses me goodbye and I follow his mother into the pack house to meet Violette. “Nice to see you again, my Luna.” “You too Zeke, and please call me Everlee.” He grins but shakes his head. “Not a chance, Luna.” We walk up to the beta and gamma living quarters and into a living room. “Violette? Honey, are you ready to go? Everlee is here!” “Yes! I’m right here, if I could just…get…this…stupid…shoe…on. Ugh!” I walk around the corner to see a very pregnant young woman with long blonde hair, struggling to reach around her belly to put her shoes on. “Haha, oh Vi, honey, let me help you. I’m guessing, you refused your darling husbands help this morning?” Sophia kneels down and slips the black flats onto her feet. “He thinks I’m helpless, Sophia, I’m perfectly capable… well, normally. Ugh, whatever! Im just ready to not be pregnant anymore! I don’t know how humans do this for 9 whole months. 6 months is more than enough for me.” I step into the room and smile at her. “Hello, I’m Everlee. It’s nice to meet you Violette.” “Oh, Hi! We hug around here, girl! Bring it in! Im so happy to meet you. We have such a fun day planned! Dress shopping and facials, and nails and massages, the perfect girls day!” She hugs me as best she can with her large baby bump out in front. “Im pretty excited myself. Maybe all this will help me feel less nervous about tomorrow.” “The nerves are normal, just concentrate on Lennox and everything else will fall into place. The pack house is buzzing with the rumors of your arrival. Everyone is thrilled that Lennox found his mate! Our pack has been without a Luna for 5 years. They love Lennox, he’s a wonderful Alpha, but a pack needs the nurturing of a Luna to feel balanced. It makes us all stronger.” We climb into the back of a limo, with the same driver as that first night at the bank, just 9 days ago. Then it hits me. Tomorrow is New Years Eve. “Do you all usually celebrate the New year?” “Well, of course! Only the wolves mated to humans celebrate Christmas, but we always celebrate New Years. It was very convenient that we could add your Luna ceremony to the New Years ball. And it gives Lennox a chance to announce you properly in front of the entire pack. Didn’t your pack celebrate New Years?” “Umm, my pack? Oh, we did celebrate The winter solstice, not so much New Years. Our holidays revolved more around the seasons.” I feel bad lying, or with holding the truth, from Sophia, she is so nice. I’m just not sure when to hit her with, “oh, by the way, I’m a fairy. I know you and the whole world think we don’t exist but, SURPRISE! Your son is mated to one!” “I’m never going to find a gown to fit over this enormous belly. I may as well just wear a moo moo.” Violette rolls her eyes and sighs as she stares down at her bump. “Im sure we will find something that accentuates that glorious baby bump and makes you feel beautiful.” Sophia is so nurturing, I can learn a lot from her, I can already tell she must have been an amazing Luna. “I’m not sure they make gowns for blimps, Sophia, but thanks for trying.” We pull up to the most adorable little storefront. The window says Glenda’s Dress Shop and has a closed sign on the door. “Oh No, she’s closed!” “Haha, ya, closed for a private shopping spree! She always closes when pack leaders come to shop, so long as we call ahead and make an appointment. Glenda is the best.” Sophia pushes the door open and I follow, holding the door open for Violette. “Sophia, Vi, it’s so good to see you! And this must be our new Luna! Welcome to my humble little shop Luna, I’m honored to help you prepare for your Luna ceremony.” “Hi, it’s nice to meet you, please, call me Everlee.” She gives me a polite nod but I know she will continue to call me Luna. Who knew werewolves were so formal? I just want to fit in. I don’t know how I feel about being werewolf “royalty”. “If you need any help at all, please let me know, we do provide alterations. My assistant will be happy to put any dress you like in your dressing rooms in the back. I went ahead and pulled a few gold ones for you, Sophia.” Sophia smiles and turns to me. I must look like a deer in headlights. I have no experience with formalwear. I feel like an imposter in this world, and it’s only a matter of time before they figure out that I don’t belong. “Everlee, dear, would you like me to help you find something? I know how overwhelming your first pack event can be.” “I feel so out of place. Everyone is making such a fuss over me, and I just want to be a part of the pack.” “If the Moon Goddess mated you to my son, then you belong. No questions asked. I trust her. The pack trusts her. You should too. I had the same doubts when I met Clinton.” She leads me to a bench by the dressing room. “I was an omega in the Silver Lake pack, in Ohio, the daughter of a pack house cook and a pack warrior. We lived in the omega quarters at the pack house until I was 18. I went off to college to study to be a nurse. Over winter break, I came home for the New Years Ball. My mother made me the most beautiful gold gown to wear, she said it brought out the golden flecks in my eyes. She wanted me to look my best, just in case my mate was there. And sure enough, as soon as I walked in, Clinton found me. He was there on pack business with his father, to sign a peace treaty. The rest is history. I’ve worn a gold gown every New Years since then. My sister, Thea, actually ended up being the next Alpha’s mate. Now my nephew Zephyr is the Alpha. Do you see? The Moon Goddess doesn’t make mistakes. My sister and I were born to be Lunas, even though we were born Omegas, and no matter what your past was like, you were chosen to be the Luna of Black River, and you will be wonderful. I can feel it.” Sophia is the best. How have I not only gotten mated to the most amazing man, but also scored the best mother-in-law of all time?! It’s nice to know she can relate to my situation. Well, kind of. She had the advantage of being a wolf, and not a member of a race that everyone thinks is extinct. “Thank you for sharing your story with me Sophia. I think I know what color I want to wear tonight. Can you help me find it?” “I would love to.” After 2 hours of trying on what felt like a hundred dresses, we all 3 found gowns, shoes and accessories. Vi, had finally settled on an empire waist, burgundy gown, and was slowly starting to come out of her funk. “Next stop, the spa! I cannot wait for my massage.” We pull up to a pink building with a black and white striped awning. The sign above the door says Angela’s Spa and Salon. “Hello, welcome. My name is Angela. I have your rooms all ready and waiting. This way, follow me please.” Angela is a tall, lanky woman and has short black hair, a monotone voice, and obviously thinks pretty highly of herself, she doesn’t refer to us by name or title, just turns on her heel and starts walking. She must not be a wolf. In a way, if feels nice not to be treated any different, like just another customer. 4 hours later we all have had massages and facials and my hair and nails have never looked better. Angela and her team are definitely the best at their jobs. I feel fabulous. Violette is in a much better mood too. I think we are all anxious to get back to the pack house and our mates, and also food. We had completely skipped out on lunch, so we are starving. “Today was exactly what I needed. Thank you both so much for being so accepting and kind. I’m actually pretty excited for tomorrow now.” “Well, as your Gamma, it’s kind of my duty to help you anyway, but I’m glad to do it. I think we’re gonna be great friends.” Sophia just pats my hand and gives me that sweet smile of hers. I’m missing my own mother really bad, so her motherly presence is very soothing. As we pull up to the pack house, our mates are waiting outside. Clinton opens the door and helps each of us out, wrapping his arm around Sophia’s waist as she steps out. He pulls her in and kisses her pretty passionately. Lennox follows his fathers lead and wraps me in a tight hug and kisses me hello. Apparently PDA is a werewolf thing too. “Babe, I’d like you to meet, Everlee, our new Luna. Everlee, this is my mate, Gamma Donavan.” Donavan is a very attractive man. He stands almost as tall as Lennox, he is lean, and his biceps are huge, and covered in tattoos. His skin is the color of milk chocolate and if his honey colored eyes aren’t enough to stop you in your tracks, his perfect smile sure will. His black curly hair is cut into a short, military style fade. Before I had met Lennox, my body would definitely have taken notice of him, but I feel nothing. I can see how gorgeous he is, but it has no affect on me. Is it the mate bond? Did it affect Lennox this way too? Because I can’t say I’m upset about it. “Hello, Luna, it’s very nice to meet you.” “Very nice to meet you too, Donavan. Thank you for letting me spend the day with your mate. She is pretty great, I know you must have been missing her.” “Of course he missed me. Now, please carry me into the dining room, my feet hurt, whatever Donna cooked smells amazing and your pup is hungry.” He flashes a smile at Vi, and they head inside, followed by Clinton and Sophia. “I take it, you a good time today?” “I had a wonderful time. It was exactly what I needed.” “Ya, my mom is good company. She may be pretty tough competition, but I will definitely be better company later tonight, my Luna.”
