The Luna’s Demand
Elara Blackthorn did not kneel.
She never had.
The great hall of Blackthorn Keep was packed with every Alpha of rank in the northern territories. Torchlight flickered across stone walls lined with the pelts of enemies long dead. The air smelled of pine, steel, and the sharp tang of dominance. Every wolf in the room felt the weight of her presence the moment she stepped onto the raised dais.
Elara wore black. A high-collared gown of velvet and silver thread that clung to her like a second skin. Her long dark hair fell loose down her back, and her amber eyes swept the crowd with cool indifference. A single red gem pulsed at her throat—the bloodstone of her bloodline, the mark of the true Luna.
Silence fell.
“I have heard your petitions,” she said, her voice clear and cutting. “You want me to choose a mate. One Alpha to rule beside me. One man to share my bed and my power.”
A ripple of approval moved through the hall. Several Alphas straightened, chests swelling.
Elara smiled, slow and sharp.
“I refuse.”
The silence shattered into growls and shocked murmurs.
She raised one hand. Instant quiet returned.
“I will not bind myself to a single wolf who will spend the rest of his life trying to leash me. I am not a prize to be claimed. I am the Luna of the largest pack in the North. My bloodline has ruled for three hundred years. I will take what strengthens me… and discard what does not.”
She let her gaze travel across the front row until it landed on three figures who stood slightly apart from the rest.
Kael Voss. Tall, broad-shouldered, silver eyes like winter steel. Warlord of the eastern borders. Cold, calculating, lethal.
Ronan Drake. Dark hair cropped short, amber eyes burning with barely restrained fire. The most feared enforcer in three territories. Loyal to the bone and dangerous when crossed.
Silas Kane. Leaner, dangerously beautiful, green eyes that always seemed to know too much. Rogue-born, pack-raised, and the only Alpha who had ever made her laugh in the middle of a council meeting.
Three of the strongest. Three of the most dangerous. Three who had never once tried to force her submission.
Elara’s smile deepened.
“I will marry three husbands.”
The hall erupted.
Shouts of “Forbidden!” and “Against the old laws!” crashed against the stone walls. Several Alphas stepped forward, faces twisted with outrage. Elara did not flinch. She simply waited until the noise peaked, then spoke again—soft, but carrying the full weight of her dominance.
“The old laws were written by men who feared a woman with power. I do not fear. I take.”
She turned fully toward the three Alphas.
“Kael. Ronan. Silas.”
Their names rolled off her tongue like a claim.
“You will stand as my husbands. You will protect my borders, share my bed, and answer only to me. In return, you will hold the highest rank beneath the Luna. You will never kneel to another Alpha again. You will belong to me… and I will belong to no one.”
Kael’s silver eyes never left hers. A muscle ticked in his jaw, but he gave a single, sharp nod.
Ronan’s mouth curved into a fierce grin. “About damn time someone said it out loud.”
Silas tilted his head, green eyes glittering with dark amusement. “Three husbands, Luna? Greedy little thing, aren’t you?”
Elara’s answering smile was pure challenge. “I always get what I want, Silas. You should know that by now.”
An older Alpha from the western packs stepped forward, face red with fury. “This is an abomination! No Luna has ever—”
Elara’s power cracked through the hall like a whip. The man stumbled back as if struck. Several weaker wolves dropped to one knee without realizing it.
“I am the abomination,” she said softly. “And I am the law here.”
She looked back at the three men who would become hers.
“The ceremony is in three days. Be ready.”
Kael’s voice was low and rough. “And if we refuse?”
Elara’s amber eyes locked on his. “Then I will find three others who won’t.”
A beat of silence.
Then Kael stepped forward, closing the distance until only a few feet remained between them. His presence was a wall of controlled power.
“We do not refuse.”
Ronan and Silas moved up beside him, forming a solid line of muscle and dominance.
Elara felt the first spark of satisfaction curl low in her stomach.
Three husbands.
Three Alphas.
One Luna who would never be owned.
She turned and walked from the dais without looking back, the red bloodstone at her throat catching the torchlight like a warning.
Behind her, the three Alphas watched her leave with matching expressions of hunger, calculation, and something far more dangerous.
Possession.
But this time, the possession ran both ways.
And Elara Blackthorn always got what she wanted.
