Quinn's eyes fluttered open, and she looked around, trying to make out her environment. She could see the sun filtering in through the room window and she sat up in confusion. She had no idea where she was, or how she had gotten there.
She ruffled her hair as the blanket covering her chest pulled down. The sudden rush of air that grazed her skin made her eyes widen as she looked down to find herself naked.
Like a flash, the event of the previous night raced through her mind, bringing to her memory everything that happened last night. She had slept with a stranger! She had given her virginity to a total stranger.
Quinn was about to scream when someone moved and she slowly turned to see a man with his back turned to her, snuggling with the pillow in front of him.
“f**k!” She cursed under her breath and quickly got down from the bed. She grabbed her clothes that were scattered on the floor and wore them anyhow she liked. She wanted to see the face of this man, but she felt it was better that they didn't know each other. That way, she wouldn't feel too much guilt and embarrassment and she wouldn't be in trouble either.
She rushed out of the room with a heavy heart and looked around the place. Carl was nowhere to be found. She could recall him promising to bring water to her last night, and he never showed up. What was going on? Of all people that she could sleep with, why a stranger?
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she reflected on what she had done. For years, she had refused Carl from touching her or making out with her, but last night, she had willingly given her virginity to a stranger. And not just that, she had cheated on Carl. Could things get any worse than this?
She wiped her tears and walked out of the place, hailed down a cab and headed for Carl's place immediately. She had plenty of questions to ask him because she was confused.
Why did she feel that way last night? Why did he offer to help her feel better and disappeared? Why didn't he wait or look for her? Her purse wasn't even with her anymore, and she couldn't help but wonder if it had been stolen.
When she got to his house, she entered the living room with her head hung low. She didn't even know how she would face him and talk to him. She had disappointed Vivian, who was the cheerleader in their relationship, and mostly disappointed him.
“Carl,” She called, her voice breaking with every step she took. “Carl, are you home?” She called out again, but there was no response.
She climbed the stairs and headed for his room. He might be in the shower or something. If she don't find him in the room, then he might be at work. As she approached his room, she could hear moaning sounds coming from there.
Her brows twitched as she gazed around, confused. Was she mistaken? This was Carl's room, right? Or did he have a visitor over and the person decided to play dirty in his room?
Different questions raced through her mind and the only way to find answers was to go in there. She placed her hand on the doorknob and was about to turn it when she paused as the sound became familiar.
“Oh, Carl, that's it! Oh, right there!”
Her eyes widened. That was Vivian's voice, and wait… did she just call Carl's name? It can't be her Carl, right?
Quinn stood there, frozen in shock, as the moaning sounds continued. Her mind raced with thoughts of betrayal and deceit. Vivian, her best friend, and Carl, her boyfriend, were together? In his room? The room where they had shared so many memories? She felt a wave of nausea wash over her as she turned the doorknob and pushed the door open.
The scene before her was like a punch to the gut. Vivian and Carl were tangled in each other's arms, their faces twisted in pleasure. They were so caught up in their moment that they didn't even notice her standing there.
She felt a scream building up inside her, but she couldn't let it out. Her voice was stuck in her throat as she took in the betrayal before her. How could they do this to her? How could they betray her trust like this?
“Carl!” She suddenly called, tears blurring her vision. They suddenly pulled away and looked at her, their faces void of any emotion. There was nothing like shame or regret in them. They just looked at her with a bemused expression on their faces. “Carl, how could you do this to me?”
Carl smirked and looked at Vivian, who wrapped her hand around his neck and gave her a smirk of her own.
“Vivian,” Quinn called, her voice barely above a whisper, anxiety gnawing at her heart as she looked at her best friend.
“I didn't know you would get out of that man's bed this early, best friend. Did you enjoy yourself last night?” Vivian asked, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
Quinn looked at her, confused. “You're f*****g my boyfriend and dare ask me if I enjoyed myself last night?” She snapped at her and she chuckled; a mocking one.
“Is anything wrong with me f*****g your boyfriend? After all, you f****d a stranger last night.” She replied and Quinn gasped.
“How did you…” She trailed off, and they burst into a fit of laughter.
Vivian walked to where she stood. “Oh my innocent and naive Quinn, you trust people too much, don't you?” she asked, but Quinn said nothing as she had no idea what she was talking about. “You cheated on Carl too, you know? Let's call it an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.”
“No!” Quinn countered, her eyes tinged with unshed tears. “I have no idea why I did what I did last night. What happened was a mistake. After drinking yesterday, my body system changed and I began to feel—”
“Hot, aroused and oversensitive to s****l touch? You wanted to be f****d so bad, right?” Vivian cut in and her eyes widened.
“How did you know?”
“I spiked your drink,” Vivian laughed out loud and surprisingly, Carl joined her. Quinn couldn't believe what she was hearing.
“We set you up with that stranger last night. We drugged you and took you to that room because we knew he was drugged and left there too. It was all planned out.” Carl chimed in, and her heart shattered to pieces all over again.
“You… did what?” She snapped, her fists tightened as she couldn't control her anger anymore. Her legs moved and she walked to where Carl stood and gave him three slaps on the face. Vivian was about to talk but she slapped her as well, sending her to the floor immediately.
“Quinn!” Carl snapped and approached her but Vivian held him.
“Let her be. She is just a pained asshole!” she glared at her and she scoffed at them. Carl helped her up as they looked at her, bemused expressions on their faces.
“Why? Why would you do that to me?!” She snapped at them, trying her best to control her tears, so they wouldn't fall. She couldn't believe her best friend and boyfriend would betray her this way, and on her birthday for that matter.
Carl chuckled. “You were becoming too boring and clingy. I needed space from you and Vivian was happy to provide that. Not just that, an opportunity came for us to get rid of you once and for all, and we couldn't just let it pass us by.” he wanted to touch her, but she slapped his hand away.
“Live with it, Quinn, you don't deserve Carl. You've been ripping him off for years. Now is the time for him to go for whom he truly wants; me!” she pointed at herself. “You were just a side chick, feeling herself and thinking she was the main girlfriend,” she laughed out loud, each of her words feeling like a knife dug into Quinn's heart. “We got tired of hiding our relationship from you and gave you the perfect birthday surprise.”
“Was it necessary?” Quinn balled her fists. “Was it necessary to set me up with a total stranger? Do you have any idea what you have taken away from me?” She pointed her index finger at them, the pain eating her whole, but they just laughed it off.
“You were a virgin, so what? What is our business? You lost it, it's none of our business either.” Vivian rolled her eyes, her words dripping with malice.
Carl held her chin roughly. “How does it feel like to lose something you've always wanted to keep?” he chuckled, his voice laced with mockery. The tears she fought so hard to hold streamed down her cheeks. She pushed him away.
“I can't believe the two of you did this to me. I can't believe I trusted you with my life!”
“That was your mistake,” Vivian snorted. “Now get out, we were in the middle of something before you got in here.”
Quinn couldn't help but burst into tears. How could they do this to her after everything they've shared? How could they betray her like this?
“If you don't want to leave, you can be our guest and watch live porn.” Carl pulled Vivian by the waist and kissed her. Her heart broke as she wrapped her hand around his neck and deepened the kiss.
She couldn't bear watching this. “You two will regret this.” She turned and stormed out of the room.
“Don't forget to check the news. I bet you're a celebrity now!” Vivian yelled from within and the next thing she knew, her purse was thrown out of the room.
She halted and balled her fists in rage. She wanted to do more than just leave. She was going to make sure they didn't enjoy this morning like they planned. And with that, she turned and went back to the room. They were in a hot kiss session and Carl turned back to look at her.
“What the heck are you still doing here?” he rasped.
Quinn didn't answer and made her way to where he stood. Before he could say anything, she kicked him in the groin and he plunged to the ground immediately. Vivian gasped and held him as she stared at them resentfully.
“Serves you right, bastard!” She walked out of the room and slammed the door.
She wiped her tears and picked her purse from the floor. She stormed out of the house and paused when she recalled what Vivian had said about checking the news.
What was she talking about?
She brought out her phone and logged into the news channel.
The next thing Quinn saw made her eyes widen with shock. What! Was that who they set me her with? She couldn't believe her life had been altered in the worst way possible.
He was going to come for her, she knew it!
