“Mr. Blackwood! Mr. Blackwood!”
Jaxon groaned in his sleep and turned to the other side, ignoring the voice that kept yelling his name faintly.
“Mr. Blackwood, there is trouble, you have to get up!”
His eyes fluttered open, coming face to face with Wells, his Secretary. What was he doing in his house? How the heck did he even get in?
Jaxon looked at him, an annoyed expression settling on his face. “What are you doing in my house? How did you get in?” He asked, but he shook his head as his expression turned more serious.
“I'm sorry, sir, but this isn't your house. This is one of the rooms in a club, and—”
“A club?” Jaxon cut in and that was when he looked around to realize that this wasn't his room. What was he doing here? “How… how did I get here?” He asked as he tried to recall what happened last night.
He stared down at himself and his eyes widened. He was naked. What the heck?
“You have to see this, sir,” Wells stretched out his hand to give him his phone, and he took it. Words couldn't explain the shock he felt immediately he saw what was on the news.
“What the f*****g hell?” He instantly stood to his feet, the bedsheets wrapped around his waist as he went through the headlines.
FAMOUS BILLIONAIRE WHO IS ENGAGED, CAUGHT HAVING AN AFFAIR WITH A RANDOM LADY AT A CLUB
Jaxon couldn't believe what he was seeing, and just then, the memories of last night flooded his mind. He was at the club to cool off after having an argument with his parents over him getting engaged for the sake of the family business, when a lady walked up to him and offered him a glass of whiskey.
It seemed like a kind gesture and since she didn't flirt with him, he thought she meant well. A few minutes after the drink, he suddenly felt hot, and that same lady took him to a room. He couldn't recall what happened after that, but he's sure she had set him up and made him sleep with her.
“I was set up!” He facepalmed and paced around the room as he thought of what to do.
“Not only that, Mr. Blackwood. The company's sales are fluctuating, and the shareholders are withdrawing. If this continues, the company might…” Wells trailed off, his face contorting into sadness.
“I can't believe this,” Jaxon muttered to himself, feeling like his world was crumbling before him. “This can't be happening.”
Wells handed him a robe, and he quickly put it on, trying to compose himself. “What do we know about this lady?” He asked, his mind racing with questions.
“Not much, sir. She left the club before you woke up, and we couldn't get a good look at her face. Plus, it was already late at night, and we were unable to see her face clearly.” Wells replied, his expression grim.
Jaxon took a deep breath, trying to think clearly. This was a disaster. His engagement to Sophia was already a sham, and now this. His family's business was on the line, and he couldn't let some unknown lady ruin everything.
“I don't care how you're going to do it but find a way for me to see the f*****g face of this b***h,” He demanded. “And find out who she is. I want to know everything about her.”
Wells nodded and quickly left the room, leaving him to his thoughts. He paced back and forth, trying to piece together what had happened. He had been so blind, so naive. He had let his guard down, and now he was paying the price.
As he waited for Wells to return, he couldn't help but wonder what else was going to go wrong. His life was spiraling out of control, and he didn't know how to stop it.
Jaxon left the club and drove home. When he got into the house, my parents were already waiting there for him. He walked up to them, shame and embarrassment evident on his face.
“Dad,” He called softly but the reply he got was a slap to the face.
“Honey.” Mum held him.
“Do you have any idea what you have done, Jaxon?” he thundered, his voice reverberating through the whole house. “Do you have any idea the shame you've brought to the family? How could you go to a club and sleep with a woman when you should be looking after the family business?” he yelled.
“I'm sorry.” Jaxon muttered.
“Sorry? Is sorry going to fix the damages you've caused? Our business is on the line because of you! What do you want me to tell Sophia and her family?” his father continued, his voice full of anger and disappointment. “That their future husband and business partner is a reckless, irresponsible playboy who can't even keep his pants zipped?”
Jaxon felt a surge of shame and regret. He knew he had let his family down, and he didn't know how to make it right.
“I'll fix it, Dad,” He said, trying to sound convincing. “I'll make it right, I promise.”
His father shook his head. “You'd better, Jaxon. You'd better fix this mess you've made. Because if you don't, I swear to God, I'll disown you.”
Jaxon felt a chill run down his spine. He knew his father was serious. He had always been a hard man, but he had never seen him so angry and disappointed in him before.
“I'll make sure I fix everything, dad.” He sounded determined, and he sucked in a breath.
“Find a way to bring that news down from the internet. I'll speak with Sophia and her family, and hope they are still interested.” he said, and walked away without glancing at him.
His Mum just patted his shoulder and walked away as well. He ran his hands through his hair and ruffled it.
“Mr. Blackwood,”
Jaxon turned to see Wells standing with his tablet placed on his chest.
“Were you able to get anything about her?” He asked and he nodded.
“Her name is Quinn Lane, she is 20 years old and is a scriptwriter at Grey Productions,” Wells continued, his eyes fixed on the tablet. “She's been working there for about a year now, and from what I've gathered, she's quite talented.”
“I don't care about how talented she is. I want to know why she did what she did, and make her pay for hurting my reputation,” He tightened his fists, his eyes darkening.
“Find her and bring her to me. I don't care how you're going to do it. Tag her as Wanted and get the police to look for her if you have to.”
“Yes, sir.” Wells bowed slightly and rushed out of the house.
Quinn Lane, I will make you regret crossing paths with me!
