It's been two months; two months of hiding away from the billionaire who misunderstood everything that happened that night. When Quinn realized that Vivian and Carl had set her up with Jaxon Blackwood, she knew she was in deep trouble, and so she resigned from her job, rented a new apartment and stayed in hiding, hoping that it would all die down soon.
Jaxon was a dangerous billionaire, according to what she heard about him, and whoever pissed him off would pay for it. He had put flyers with her pictures all over the city, looking for her because he believed she set him up and had slept with him to ruin his reputation. His engagement and business deals were canceled, enraging him the more. The news might have been taken down, but he was still looking for her with the sole aim of making her pay.
What he didn't know was that she was a victim as well. She had been betrayed by her best friend and boyfriend. She knows no one would listen to her explanation, and as a result, she hid away from the world. She always went out with either a hoodie on or a face cap, to stop people from recognizing her.
She's been sick and couldn't even go to the hospital for a proper check up because they might recognize her and hand her over to the police.
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she thought of how her once happy and peaceful life had been altered by people she considered family. This wasn't how she pictured her life to be. She wanted to be a successful actress one day, build a name for herself, and make her late parents proud, but now she was stuck in this nightmare with no one to turn to, with nowhere to go. She could only hide and wait for Jaxon to catch up with her and finally deal with her for good.
A few minutes later, she felt weak suddenly and hurried to take the drugs she have been using to strengthen herself for the past week. Unfortunately, she was out on them. She grabbed her hoodie and baggy pants and made her way to the pharmacy she frequented. It was close, so she could easily go there and rush back home without getting noticed.
She walked in and met the woman at the counter. She explained what was happening and asked her for the usual medication.
“Ma'am, I don't think your body is becoming weak for nothing. If that was the case, you should be fine by now. Have you considered going to the hospital for a check-up?” she asked, but she shook her head.
“There's no need to go to the hospital, ma. It's just normal body weakness. Just give me the drugs and I will be fine.” She assured her, and prayed earnestly that she would believe her and stop wasting her time before people recognized her.
“I'm sorry, ma'am. I don't want to take any chances,” She sighed, went through her laptop and looked back at Quinn. “You mentioned feeling nauseous at times, and morning sickness, plus you have a huge appetite on some days and less on other days, right?” She asked and Quinn nodded. “I think you might be pregnant.”
Quinn stared at her in silence for a while and burst into a fit of laughter. “Impossible!” she exclaimed.
“Did you see your period last month?” she asked, and she shook my head. “How about this month?”
“No.”
“You see? You're pregnant, ma'am. If you don't believe me, you can go to the hospital.”
“I don't want to go to the hospital, please.” Quinn pleaded with her.
She sighed and ran her hands through her hair. “Then I will give you a pregnancy test kit. You can use that to find out by yourself,” she left to get the kit, and Quinn's mind raced with questions. There is no way on this earth that she's pregnant. It can't be possible!
The woman returned a few minutes later with the kit and gave it to her. “Here. The instructions on how to use it are in that little paper. Only after it's confirmed will I be able to know the kind of drugs to give you.”
Quinn sucked in a breath and nodded her head. She quickly left the pharmacy after paying. When she got home, she stared at the pregnancy test kit.
She knew she wasn't pregnant because there was no way something like this would happen to her, but it was worth giving it a try. She went to the bathroom, opened the kit and followed the instructions. She waited for what felt like an eternity for the results. And then, she saw it. Two pink lines. She stared at it in disbelief. Pregnant? Me? How? She thought back to that night with Jaxon, and her heart sank. It had to be his. She felt a wave of nausea wash over her, and she ran to the toilet to vomit.
As she sat on the floor, holding her head in her hands, she couldn't help but think about how her life had spiraled out of control.
First, she was set up and betrayed by her best friend and boyfriend. Then, she was hunted by a billionaire who thought she had ruined his reputation. And now, she was pregnant with his child. Tears streamed down her face as she thought of what to do. Her life was a mess. There was no way she would be able to handle all these traumatic experiences. She can't stay here and bear this pain.
She knew she had to get out of here, away from Jaxon and his wrath. She packed a small bag and her travel documents as she made her way to the bus station.
Thank goodness, she had worked her ticket and gotten approved a month back. She had wanted to leave the country then, but discovered Jaxon might look for her there, so she stopped, but now, she was going to leave for good.
She had to get as far away from him as possible. As she sat on the bus, she couldn't help but wonder what the future held for her and her unborn child, but one thing was certain, she will raise her child well, achieve her dream and come back to clear her name and make Carl and Vivian pay.
She have to do it for her sake and for the sake of her child.
