Ethan POV:
As soon as we arrived, the pack was already bustling and my stomach growled at the smell of a delicious pork roast. My parents were really going all out for Selena but I knew it had nothing to do with accepting her. If anything, it had to do with showing off. Alpha's and Luna's from all over would be arriving soon because tomorrow would be the marking ceremony, well, the official marking ceremony.
"Ethan!" Called my mother as she floated towards me gracefully, "yes?" I asked, "your father and I want to talk to you about something in private," she said eyeing Isaac, who then shrugged and walked off. "Okay..." I said, "let's go to the office." I followed my mother towards my father's office while my stomach growled and my longing for Selena grew.
Once inside, my mother shut the door behind us, "what's up?" I asked as I stood looking at both of them. I remembered Isaac's words and I was definitely going to pay attention to their behavior right now. My father cleared his throat and my mother leaned against the desk, her eyes never leaving me. "Ethan, you're our son," said my father and he gave me a small smile, I said nothing and gave no reaction to his words, "and we want what's best for you-" "Always!" Interjected my mother, her face softening, "we cannot allow you to marry Selena since her infidelity was made very public." My father looked at me hard now, I shook my head, "we don't know if she cheated and it doesn't add up!" I exclaimed, my mother's face contorted into one of pity and she walked towards me, stroking and cupping my cheek, "my poor boy!" Her eyes were filling with tears and I pulled away from her grasp, "Ethan," came my father's voice from behind her, "we understand that you marked her but you will have to follow tradition." I stared at my father with disgust, "that tradition is demeaning and disgusting!" I growled. My father growled back at me, asserting his dominance and using his alpha authority to get me to back down and it worked. "Don't argue with tradition!" Snapped my father angrily.
"If I can't marry her then-" before I could even finish my sentence, my father's hand hit me hard across the face, "we have tolerated your boyish bull s**t for long enough but now it is time to get serious! Our pack is in danger!" Shouted my father, I was stunned. He had never hit me before... I looked at him, eyes wide and filled with tears.
He stepped closer to me and grabbed me by my collar and pulled me so close to his face that I could smell the whiskey on his breath. "You will either reject that b***h and take another mate by tomorrow or you can keep her as your side piece! Those are your only options!" With that he shoved me off and I stumbled against the couch but caught myself before I could fall. "Your move little boy!" Growled my father. I felt my chest tightening and I knew I had no other option. I had to reject Selena and I had to do it now before she came down and got humiliated and hurt.
She would be tortured here. She would never be free. The tears were now falling down my face and I stared at them, the two people I had loved the most and looked up to. They had broken my heart beyond repair. I let out a loud sob as I turned and left. I needed to get to Selena. I needed to let her go. My heart had started to increase with pain at the thought and I clutched at it as I moved towards her room.
My hand was on the handle but I froze at the sounds coming from her room. It was the unmistakable slapping noises of flesh on flesh and was that soft moans... I squeezed the door knob, pushing it open to see Raze on top of my mate! I growled as I felt my wolf take over, there was not a second to comprehend anything. I stormed into the room and pulled Raze off of her and was ready to kill him when Selena actually became Alice. "What the f**k!?" I growled and Alice's eyes darted to the mirror. "Wait!" She pleaded, scrambling out of the bed, not caring that she was completely naked, "Ethan!" She shouted as I made my way out, "wait! I can explain!" Her voice was desperate. Raze was on the floor, his head had taken a pretty bad hit and it hit me.
None of this was real. It was all an illusion. They wanted us apart. They wanted us to reject each other. My anger was flaring and I knew no amount of reasoning could stop me now. I was getting Selena and we would be leaving. I stormed angrily through the kitchens as I tried to find her scent, I even grabbed a servant girl, terrifying her in the process, "where is Selena!?" I growled as her whole body trembled. "I don't- I- I- I- don't kn-ow," she stuttered and I pushed her aside as I continued to storm through. Could she be outside already!?
