Breakfast Chaos

1037 Words
Selena POV: The kitchen was madness this morning. Everyone was up early but one of the stove plates had stopped working and now everyone wanted to get their work done so they could head off to school or do something else to avoid being in the middle of the chaos. "Selena!" Shouted Ro, I snapped my head in her direction as I continued to flip pan cakes, "what!?" I snapped, "Your bread is burning!" She yelled as we both ran towards the oven on the other side of the kitchen. I pulled open the oven and pulled out the hot trays without thinking, burning myself in the process. "f**k!" I yelled dropping the bread trays, "Selena! You've wasted four loaves of bread and that's going to come out of your hours or your meal tickets!" She was angry, "get out of the kitchen! I can't have anymore delays, the pack needs to eat and all of you are just delaying it!" She clapped her hands together for effect, "You'll do the serving today and for the rest of you," she looked around at the stressed faces, "work faster or I will dock your meal tickets too!" Everyone groaned as they got back to what they were doing. I was handed two metal trays, one filled with just sausages and the other with scrambled eggs. I balanced the heavy catering containers as carefully as I could as I walked out to the buffet table. There were long line as people were waiting to get their food and omegas waiting to get served for the Alpha, beta and gammas. I placed the trays down and removed the top, the smell that hit me as it steamed up into my nostrils made my stomach growl loudly. I took my place behind the table as the other girl left to go and get more food. I began my job of piling on plates with eggs, sausages, ham, tomatoe, toast... Werewolves had a big appetite because of their fast metabolisms. All in all, it seemed like it was working out well. Ethan POV: I could smell her citrus scent from all the way over here. I was sitting with my parents at the head table, to my pleasure, Alice was moved to sit with the warrior table and Isaac at the opposing warrior table. "Ethan sweetie," fussed my mother as she brushed my hair back, "is everything okay?" She asked, "I'm just going through some stuff," I said which wasn't a lie. I was fighting to stay in control when all I wanted to do was to walk up to her and kiss her right then and there. Immediately Beta Arnold spoke up, "you know kids these days," he chuckled awkwardly and I knew he was silently begging me to not spill what had happened last night but I wanted to torture him so that he would keep a better handle on his daughter. "Mom, do you think we could talk after breakfast?" I asked, "of course sweetie," she smiled and squeezed my hand. An omega came with a fresh pot of coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. Then came out Ro, "I am sorry Alpha and Luna for the delays," she bowed as she placed freshly made waffles on the table, "one of the plates stopped working this morning, after breakfast I will get an omega to fix it." My mom nodded at her with a smile and started to pull a waffle on to her plate, "thank you Ro for letting us know, we were disappointed in the tardiness today but after hearing your explanation, it is understandable." My father smiled at her but I knew it wasn't real. None of it was. Then there was a huge clatter and I just knew. Alice was at the buffet table and she had swiped the tray of sausages off the table, which caused the heavy metal to clatter and bang on to the ground as it spilled out fresh sausage. "What is going on?" Asked my mother, I sighed. Beta Arnold was on edge. "This is because of me." I stated, "no it's not!" Comforted my mother on impulse, "it is." Beta Arnold had now gotten up to get his daughter out of here I assume. "I broke up with Alice because she was cheating on me with Isaac." I watched as my mother gave my father a look, a look that said why am I not surprised? Beta Arnold was anxious now and he had awkwardly risen but was now conflicted to whether he should go drag his daughter out of here or wait for the Alpha and Luna to speak. "So why is she acting up if she cheated?" My mother's voice rang through the hall and Alice looked mortified as she forgot all about Selena, "Luna Anna, please- I can-" her voice was already shaking into sobs, "hush!" My mother raised her hand for silence, "I expected better from you Alice." Alice bowed her head in shame, I kept my face solemn but I was enjoying this. If Selena could get away unharmed and I wouldn't be forced to marry Alice now then I think I'm winning. "Beta Arnold," called my father in a cool voice, "we have been friends forever but this won't be tolerated." My father's voice was authoritative and I felt bad for Beta Arnold, he didn't deserve this kind of humiliation. "Well, Ethan is sleeping with this low life b***h!" Screamed Alice in a panic to deflect as usual, I put on my best confused face as everyone was too afraid to make a sound, my parents looked to me, horrified expressions on their face. Did they really hate Selena that much? "It's not true. I chose her to replace Anja because it seemed like fair punishment for her insolence and while working as my maid I noticed that she has excellent work ethic, my room is always cleaned and my sheets changed everyday. I don't have to worry about my stock take, she takes care of it. Best help I could ask for." My parents looked back at Alice, "Alice, your lies have gone too far." My father's voice echoed through the hall.
