I burst out laughing. Clearly my wolf has a cracking sense of humour.

I feel the sensation of her rolling her eyes, ‘I am not joking Cleo.’

“Everything okay darling?” Drakos softly strokes my cheek and they immediately heat as I realise he is watching me.

‘Mateeee’ Surie purrs.

“Yes sorry, I just- erm. My wolf’s name is Surie,” I give him the only information that makes sense right now.

His smile brightens again, “I can’t wait to meet her later.” He pulls me into his embrace. “Would you like to go back out for a bit? My parents are eager to see you.” He leaves it open for me to choose.

“Sure, I haven’t seen your parents for a while.” I tell him with a smile and take his hand.

“I keep forgetting you know my family so well,” he laughs with a shake of his head. “I guess that is a good thing.”

We get back into the banquet hall and everyone begins to applaud.

Issy reaches us first before pulling me into a hug. “Officially my sister now!”

She moves to hug Drakos and Josiah pulls me into a hug. He doesn’t say anything to me though, just moves on to hug Drakos next too.

“Alpha and Luna,” I bow my head at Drakos’ parents. They may not be the current leaders but it is polite to still use the title for them.

“Cleo dear,” his mother pulls me into an embrace. “Please call us Marion and Jason. I am so happy to see you mated to one of my boys.”

I step back from the hug and Jason kisses my hand. “You look beautiful, I trust Drake has been treating you well?”

I nod with a smile, “he is amazing.”

“Who is amazing?” Drakos asks as he steps beside me again. He kisses his mother’s cheek before shaking hands with his father.

“Oh no one dear,” his mother covers for me but I feel Drakos tense a little.

‘Mate is jealous’

“Hey Cleo,” Ricky says as he approaches from the side.

“Hey,” I give him a small wave.

“I managed to get some notes copied from the few classes you missed.” He tells me with odd excitement. “Will you be at school tomorrow? I can pass them to you then.”

“Sure,” I nod at him.

There is an awkward silence and I suddenly realise I have not introduced Drakos.

“Ricky this is Alpha Drakos, Drakos this is my friend Ricky. We are partners for a few classes.” I explain over my shoulder.

Drakos holds a hand out to Ricky and they shake.

“It is nice to meet you Alpha,” Ricky says politely but seems uncomfortable. He soon excuses him self and I loose him in the crowd.

Drakos holds a hand out for me to dance with him. A smile lights up my face as I accept and he twirls me on the dance floor. Time seems to slow down as we sway to the music and just admire each other. The way his eyes glint that golden colour of his wolf every so often.

He leans forward and presses his lips to mine softly. It is sweet and gentle.

“Excuse me Alpha Drakos,” that sickly sweet voice goes through me. I tense as Drakos pulls back to look at Harmony with disinterest. “Some of the cheerleaders wanted to do a little performance for you. As a gift.” She smiles sweetly but she has the teeth of a shark.

Drakos smiles politely, “of course. We will sit now and watch your gift.” He leads me to a table and we sit, everyone around us finding seats too.

Music begins to play as Harmony and her tribe of cheerleaders begin a dance. It is very obvious by the first chorus that they are trying to be seductive. They rub and grind before twerking and even crawling on the floor. It is embarrassing to watch and when I glance around several people are cringing. Harmony crawls toward us and stops before Drakos before standing. She turns around and bends over before shaking her ass.

Before I know what is happening I have Harmony pinned to the floor. My eyes sting as Surie tries to press forward.

‘Let me have a word’ Surie begs and I try to suppress her. My hand is still around Harmony’s throat but I am not squeezing hard. I battle with myself to regain control and close my eyes. “Cleo,” a soft voice coaxes my attention toward them. A hand lands on my arm and tingles rush through me. My eyes open to see Drakos next to me. “It’s okay. Just look at me.” His hand slides down my arm and reaches my hand. He gently removes it from Harmony’s throat and into his grip. He helps me stand before pulling me into an embrace.

“She’s crazy,” Harmony shouts as she scrambles to her feet. “She just attacked me without reason.”

“Harmony you just tried to seduce the newly mated Alpha in a room full of witnesses. Cleo has just been claimed and her wolf newly emerged.” Issy tells her with sass. “I think you are the one who is stupid here.”

I hear the clicking of Harmony’s heels as she storms away.

“Stop!” Drakos demands. His voice is hard and full of venom. The clicking stops and silence falls over everyone. “I will only say this once, to everyone. I am happy with my mate and do not wish to look upon anyone else. Anyone who tries to inappropriately get my attention, flirts with me or tries to touch me will be exiled. Understood?”

A chorus of yes Alpha rings out before the music continues.

“Let’s go,” Drakos starts to lead me from the room.

I storm into Drakos’ room and begin to pace back and forth. I cannot believe I just attacked her, I held her to the floor. What is wrong with me?

“Cleo?” Drakos’ worried voice reaches me as he watches me pace. “Hey,” he reaches me and holds my arms to stop me pacing. “It’s okay, you did nothing wrong.”

I shake my head, “I am so sorry but I can’t do this Drakos. I am not good enough to be a Luna for this pack. I am not good enough for you!” My breathing is ragged. “I cannot compete with girls like Harmony. I’m, I’m-“ i am cut off by Drakos.

His mouth is upon mine and the gentle kiss from the dance is gone. In its place is a scorching kiss that steals my breath. His hands grasp my face and tilt my head up so his tongue can explore every surface of my mouth. My core clenches and a moan slides up my throat. He pulls his mouth away too soon and it takes great strength not to whimper at the loss contact.

“I am not sure how else to put it Cleo so i will say it once more. I only want you. There is no need to compare yourself to other girls as I only want you. I have every faith that you will be the best Luna to our pack because the goddess paired us for a reason. And to be honest, I don’t give a f**k if you suck at it because…” he pecks my lips with a kiss again. “I ONLY WANT YOU.”

I swallow at the fierce determination in his gaze and the hunger as he stares at my lips. I imagine they are red and plump just like his currently are.

I hate to admit how much I am pooling in my panties at his admission. How much my body craves him right now.

Before I can make a move to do something about it, he steps away from me and runs a hand through his hair.

“We should head outside for your first shift.” He takes my hand in his and leads me from the room again. We head out into the secluded forest and the leaves crunch beneath our feet. We find a spot and sit down before Drakos glances at his watch.

“Should be any minute now, it is usually around midnight.” He says softly.
