Chapter 1 - She’s broken

Sieranna pov It was early the fresh dew still settled on the grass, sunlight just starting to creep in. Every morning was the same get up and run as far as I could I liked to test my limits everyone in my pack saw me as week and broken, maybe I was but I was determined to prove them wrong. Running through the forest I felt so light and free like nothing and no one mattered. It helped clear my head and take my mind off everything. I sprinted through the trees taking everything in the feeling of the ground beneath my paws. The beautiful sounds of the forest it was like music to my ears the birds singing high in the trees and the leaves rustling in the gentle breeze. The suns golden rays lighting up the still slightly darkened sky as daylight started to pour through. It truly was beautiful. I stopped when I approached the lake taking a moment to sit beside it wishing things had been different wondering what my life would be like if only I’d been given a different mate one who would of loved me unconditionally and cherished the special bond bestowed upon us by the moon goddess, but he was to arrogant to even care. Why had the moon goddess paired me to someone so cruel and selfish. He only cared about title after all our packs future alpha couldn’t be seen with an orphaned omega like myself. I sat there for what felt like hours lost in thought before I realised I needed to get back for training. Once I arrived home I put on my leggings and a blue cropped top before throwing my hair into a high ponytail. I wondered into the kitchen, Alissa was already up and making breakfast. “Hey girl how was your run” she asked smiling at me. “Wonderful I always feel so relaxed after you should join me sometime” She replied with a slight nod before telling me she had some coffee made up for me on the side and went to get herself dressed. Alissa was my only true friend her she too had been found by our pack and taken in we both came from nothing had no one else but found comfort in one another’s friendship. I hurriedly drank the still warm coffee she had made for me and picked up a banana to eat on my way to the training grounds before we headed out the door. As much as I love to train I hated seeing Zachary the alphas son. He would always look at me like I was trash and utterly disgusting to him. Like being my mate was some sick joke. He would constantly humiliate me any chance he had. As we approached the training grounds my eyes spotted him immediately he was already sparring with Evelyn as soon as I took my place on the mat his eyes darted to me. I could feel it like an ice cold blade running up my spine and piercing through my soul. Just then the side of his lips turned up into a devilish grin and suddenly he had pinned Evelyn to the ground beneath him and started planting kisses along her jawline all while his eyes where still locked onto me. I brushed off his futile attempts at trying to hurt me and turned my attention to Alissa who also saw there interaction. “Don’t worry about them he isn’t worthy of you or your emotions” I nod as we begin to spar dodging her blows within seconds I had her pinned to the ground. Alissa was a very predictable fighter she always went in making the first move I didn’t have the strength of a lot of the other wolves but fighting was more than just strength it requires strategy one of my strong points. The bell rang signalling for us to change partners. Before I knew it I was face to face with Zachery his tall body towering over me. He was strong he was the next alpha after all. “Let’s make this quick” he snapped. I patiently awaited his first blow however I quickly ducked my head under his arm spinning my body behind him. Before he had time to process what had happened my feet connected with the back of his knees making him stumble forward. “Your quick for a pathetic omega” he said his voice laced with hatred. I ignored his taunts focusing on his week spots and how to access them. He charged towards me and i slipped through under his legs before charging towards his back my elbow connecting with his spine. He let out a deep growl before grabbing my arm and flipping me over his shoulder. He slammed my body to the floor and I felt all the air leave my lungs. Before I could catch my breath his foot came crashing down on my ribs as I heard a crack. I bit my cheek to prevent a small whimper from escaping my mouth. He looked down at me laughing uncontrollably “you maybe fast but I’m stronger, smarter and better than you will ever be”. “Get off me now” I all but bellowed at him. Before his eyes turned blacker than the darkness of the night. “You want me to let you up, then beg me tell me how worthless you are.” I looked around noticing the attention we had attracted as Evelyn walked over. “She’s pathetic thinks she can take on the next alpha she must be delusional too”. People started laughing telling me I was useless and should just leave the pack. Tears began to form in my eyes while looking up at my former mate wondering what I ever did to deserve this. Finally he removed his foot from my chest as I scrambled to get up. My ribs still aching but quickly healing. I ran back towards my house not wanting to face anyone right now. They where right I was pathetic. Truth was I was so excited to find my mate I used to lay awake dreaming of someone to finally show my the love I had always craved but been deprived of. I wanted someone to hold me and tell me everything was okay and that I was wanted. Then on my 18th birthday I found I was mated to Zachary he had never paid attention to me before we discovered we where mates. The second he did he not only rejected me in front of the whole pack but spent every chance he could get ridiculing me. From that moment I swore I would invest all my time and energy into training before leaving the pack for good. Once I got home I ran straight to my room slamming the door behind me. My back pressed against the door I could no longer contain my pain my legs collapsed from under me as I fell to the floor my sobs echoed around the room as my energy drained from my body. Slowly my eyes became heavy and I slipped into sleep although it was anything but peaceful. Since the rejection every night I woke shaking uncontrollably remembering that day where he had broken me filled my mind with shame and self loathing that I would never be good enough or worthy of a mate. The sounds of laughter burned into my brain like a slow ongoing torcher I could never be free from. I don’t know how long I laid there but I awoke to a text from Alissa. I pulled my limp body from the ground before sitting on my bed to read it. “Hey girl hope your okay after earlier forget Zack he’s awful but you may meet someone tonight at the annual packs meeting I’ll be home soon and we can get ready.” I had completely forgotten about tonight every year all the local packs got together this year was our year to host. It gave the alphas chance to discuss our alliances and unmated wolves chance to meet mates. Great I better get showered I thought to myself trying to think of any way possible to get out of going I had enough humiliation for one day.
