chapter one : The veneration practice
Chapter one
In the city of Neuri in Scythia, 159 years after wars between the werewolf communities, the question remained: which Alpha would be the new Lycan Zeus, known to be the one true supreme Alpha with the throne of Zirconia? Three alphas, three parks, and one throne.
Echoes of laughter filled the air as a young-spirited virgin girl basked in the warmth of the sun. Her beauty is unmatched in their society. She was the adopted daughter of the priestess of Selene, the moon goddess, Mawu. Relana bore elegance, kindness, courage, and deliberation. Her features were related to that of the goddess. In
the premises of the temple of the moon, the priestess called out to her beautiful daughter, Relana.
“Relana, Relana!” she called out with a calm voice. “Come, child, you have to practice your ways of communicating with the goddess.”
“Okay, Ma! I will be right there,” Relana answered.
Relana said goodbye to her friends and headed towards the temple. She fell with a loud thud onto the hard, cold floor. The temple workers laughed, and some mocked her, saying, ”Be careful, Relana, it’s not the dance arena!” Although she had lived with Mawu for seventeen years, Relana still couldn’t get used to the temple’s hidden barrier. She hissed due to the sudden effect of her fall. As she stood up, she dusted off her body and chanted the mythical spell, saying her name with her hands stretched forward. Everyone around always gasped when it came to chanting the mythical spell. Relana was a mystery herself; she did it effortlessly. After the invisible barrier opened, Relana went inside and greeted Mawu gently. She kissed her knuckles before aligning herself to connect with her spirit guide.
The veneration practice was an ancient Lycan practice, be it a true Alpha or a true Luna. It was a form of worship to one’s God or creator on the surface view, but within it, a long conversation method to the spirit of their creator or mentor. Mawu, who alone knew what lay ahead of them, knew it was better to pray After Relana for the goddess to crown her according to the prophecy of the queen and Luna of the supreme Alpha.
After the veneration in the temple, Relana left to prepare dinner for herself and Mawu. She stumbled upon an attractive light shining on the diamond medal and the name paper of several ladies. She wasn’t a person to meddle with other people’s privacy, but as much as she wanted to ignore the items, it was as if some sort of energy emitting from the light shining on the item on the bed was calling upon her to approach it.
Relana approached the medal and name paper. She froze as each face with a different name looked like hers. “What is this?” Relana had never been this confused about a thing before. The image before her was just as if she was photographed in a different time and age. What was more confusing was the symbol on the medal, which she could see had shapes and forms of Arcadia’s writing form, but what did it mean? Relana was curious and scared at the same time, but she knew not to touch things anyhow as Mawu had asked her not to touch any objects she had kept sacred. Relana knew better to obey her mother so as not to anger her. She left Mawu’s room and went to the kitchen.
•
“Come on, Lana! You are burning your hand. Be careful, child. Where have your thoughts driven you? You seem lost,” Mawu questioned her as she helped Relana down on the kitchen stool and brought the medical kit to nurture her wounded hand. After she was done, Mawu noticed Relana was still lost in thought. “Relana! Lana!” she called the second time. But to her surprise, the young woman paid no heed. So she tapped her three times on her shoulder to get her to respond.
“Whoa! Lana, where were your thoughts? were you daydreaming like this?”
Relana’s response was short and sceptical as if she was contemplating whether to ask about what she saw or to keep her thoughts to herself. But she was inclined to find answers by questioning her mother.
“Ma, have I ever been sick as to have experienced amnesia before?” Relana held tightly to Mawu’s wrist and looked her in the eyes as her facial expression held that of a lost soul.
Mawu’s heart skipped a beat as she looked at Relana with care. “No, my child, you have always been a healthy soul.” Maybe she had begun to remember her past life, but that was impossible. Those were Mawu’s thoughts, so she asked Raelana back to find the reason behind her sudden actions and queries.
“Ehem… Mawu cleared her throat and then consciously asked. Relana, what are your thoughts, and what have you been up to?”
"I saw a magical light shining on the medal and a name book on your bed." Raelana finished speaking and looked down in shame.
"Oh! My child, you have seen it, haven't you?" Mawu asked gently in a calm tone as she raised Raelana's face by the chin.
"Yes, Ma, but I never touched any of them. I was drawn by it," Raelana replied, looking at Mawu in the eyes to show her sincerity.
Mawu knew how pure and intelligent Relana was, so she believed her. But she also knew that the time was fast approaching for the manifestation of the prophecy of the Lady Moon. She contemplated on explaining to Relana or letting destiny run its course. Opting for the latter, she decided to give little guides to Relana so as not to alter her destiny and spoil the adventure.
Mawu concealed her emotions by staring at Relana affectionately before saying, "Oh, my child, you will understand in due time what you saw. Just remember all I have taught you, and then follow your heart, for the decision will always be yours to make." Relana looked more perplexed at her words.
