Chapter Fourteen

I felt my eyes sting but tried to endure it by maintaining a positive outlook. Matrix gently guided me all throughout the trabeculoctomy procedure. It took him an hour to conduct the surgery on me. "Alright, since we're done with the operation. I strongly advice you to take six weeks off from work. Six weeks is enough for you to recover your vision. I also advise you to have someone who will be with you every time. " Dr. De Silva said and I nodded. "Who do you live with in your apartment?" He asked. I stopped and thought for awhile. There's no use to lying so I shook my head in response. "I live alone." Dr. De Silva sighed. "You can stay in my condo while you are recuperating. I live alone too. At least, someone will look out for you." He suggested. I just stared at him as if he suggested to fly to the moon. "What? Don't give me that look. Your vision will not clear out in just a couple of days. You will need all the help you can get." He said as a matter of factly. I drew a deep breath. "Fine. But I get to shower and wash for myself! The rest, we can talk about it as we go along!" I ranted and all I received was a chuckle from him. "Yes, ma'am!" Matrix gave me his million-dollar smile and I almost thought I dropped my panty when his smile shone at me. " I'll let you rest for now. I have a room at the other door here. I still have patients until 12. I have my lunch and afternoon off today. I hope, you're not yet hungry." He said. "It's okay. I'm still full. You can do your thing while I wait for you there." I said and managed to smile. Matrix raised an eyebrow at my response. He stood up and led me to a door inside his clinic. A double bed and a clean dresser welcomed me and he guided me to the bed. "Feel at home. I still have 2 patients to attend to today. Call me when you need anything else." He said and smiled again. "I thought, kay Dr. Buenaflor etong clinic?" I suddenly asked. "He gave this to me and forgot to change the names outside this clinic. He owed me one so I got this instead." He said and I nodded, satisfied at his answer. "Oh, I see. Go ahead. I'll just be here." I said and he closed the door behind him. I continued caressing the soft plush comforter in his room. His air condition was set to cool enough to give a cozy atmosphere to anyone who stays here. I pulled out my phone and swiped it to music. I retrieved my headset and put them on my ears. I let my phone on shuffle as I close my eyes and listen to mellow music. I didn't know I fell asleep when I woke up to his familiar dark brown eyes gazing at me while I lay on his bed. He was holding a strand of my hair which I presumed fell on my face when I was asleep. We were locked in a gaze when he cleared his throat. "Hey. I'm finally done for the day. Let's have lunch?" He asked, his fresh minty breath blowing softly on my face. Our faces are only inches from one another and one move forward, our lips would meet. 'Ah..yes." I whispered. He smiled and stood up. "I'll wait for you outside. Ten minutes?" He asked and brushed his hands on his slacks. I nodded and started to sit up. I heard the door close and I pulled out my headset and returned them and my phone back inside my bag. "Get a grip, Clari. You'll be living with him for more than a month, don't be obvious that you are starting to like him!" I scolded myself silently and fixed his bed. I stood up and realized what I had said. I like him? Really??
