Chapter 2: Asking Help to a Stranger

659 Words
I zoom off helplessly from my Aunt's house and never ever look back again. I swore to myself, I wouldn't ask them anything in the future. I would rather come to others no matter what their conditions than to them.  Upon reaching a few meters away running from their gate, the rain  fell heavy and my entire body immediately got drenched.  I laughed desperately, looking up. "What? Even you are mocking me now? What sin did I commit in my past life to experience this?"  I wiped the different liquids rolling on my face like a pitiful tot who got his lollipop stolen by others. "You took my mother so early, now even my father is on the verge of death. Please, can you spare him? I beg you!" I bawled.  I walked dejected along the street for quite an hour without a certain destination. I ignored my chilling body and aching feet.  The environment was gloomy. The lights on every post were constantly blinking like those in a horror movie. Aside from me, no one was around the street because of the rain. Few minutes later, I finally felt tired and my body started to feel unwell but I didn't stop. I was eager to return to the hospital but for the meantime I couldn't. I insisted on bringing money with me before I returned.  I prayed to Him despite being angry about giving me a tough life. I asked him to send a kind person at this very moment and helped me out with my problem.  I stood still right at the center of the intersecting lanes of the road. Not even moving a little. My purpose was, I would ask for help from whoever the first car to come across. But after more than 15 minutes of waiting and no one arrived, I decided to give up and thought to sell myself.  I was about to go on walking when suddenly, a light from not afar dazzled on as it just turned towards my direction. The car was approaching moderately.  But then again, disappointment swallowed of my whole being as the car just passed through me. My tears uncontrollably formed and dropped along with the rain. I fell down on the ground, screaming with hands covering on my ears as a thunder and lightning abruptly drew above me simultaneously.  What the hell? Seemed like I would die first before I could get help. I thought the rain had stopped because no more drops of water landed on my skin but I was astonished as I looked up, a well-built body of a man with his suit used to shade the rain towered me. I couldn't clearly see his face but my instincts said he was a good gentleman. I didn't know why, I couldn't even sense a threat of danger from his presence. I slowly travelled up my  head more to look on him despite the fact that I was unable to see his face and reaction well.  With the saying, desperate times could bring desperate measures, I just grabbed the gentleman's hand, causing him to flinch and the suit to droop down.  Who knows he could see my face clearly?  So I stared on him with my begging eyes and expression, and shamelessly said, "Sir, Please help my father. I need financial assistance for his operation right now. I will do what you ask. I will give you my body if you want. Just please help my father." Then I sobbed in his hand.  The man seemed surprised at my directness because his hand suddenly stiffened from my grip. But later, relief and joy drew on my face as his calm and gentle voice echoed, "Miss, get up. The rain is pouring heavy. You will get sick before your father can have treatment if you keep doing that. How about this. Lead me to the hospital and I will help your father. But about the return, I can't afford it." My mouth opened wide and my eyes jutt wide too hearing the gentleman's reply.
