Chapter 33: It Is Good To Get Sick

937 Words
*MELANIE SMITH* I never thought that the night we would have planned to entertain ourselves on TV to erase the unpleasant feelings that formed in our heart led to a frightening event. Although I often looked brave and combative but the truth was I was easily intimidated. So even though the four ugly uncles did not succeed in their evil desires, I still could not stop the trauma. I wanted to cry, move or say at least one word but even my tongue didn't function. So I felt I became totally retarded.  I could see Barbie was very worried even the cold cop. I also felt his careful lifting of me to take me to the hospital. Even though I did not speak or move, I could hear the conversation outside and my heart was overjoyed to be mistaken for Addorro's wife. Hey, it would have been nice to celebrate but I couldn't do it so I thought if I just went to sleep. I know, maybe when I woke up again I was okay.  I woke up indeed when I felt someone was touching my face and as I opened my eyes, Addorro's dazzling smile that was reaching out to me directly revealed before my eyes. "You're awake? Great, how are you? Do I need to call the doctor?" He said one after another. Even his voice right now sounded like music to my ears. With tenderness and full of love. I took his palm and rubbed it to my cheek as I smiled and closed my eyes again to savor his warm, fragrant, and soft palms. "It's nice to wake up next to you. I hope you're always here with me." I whispered. "Melanie? Melanie?" A female voice called to me. Wait. That was Barbie's voice. She called my name as the hand I was holding shook.  "No way!" My mind shouted and after mustering my courage, when I opened my eyes it was now Barbie who was next to me and her hand was the one I was holding. She frowned as she observed me closely.  I got up shouting and covered my body as I huddled on the headboard of the bed. Barbie fretted as she approached me and cried as she hugged me. "Melanie, we are now fine and safe. They are gone. Addorro has already imprisoned them. So don't be afraid. My God, don't scare me like this." I felt guilty for my reaction so I slowly raised my hand and returned her comforting hug. "Barbie. I am fine. I am sorry for making you worry." I whispered to her.  Even before Barbie could answer, the door suddenly slammed open and the doctor and Addorro, who was the least one I would expect to be here, was still around to watch over me. Hmmm, what a good site and feeling. Suddenly, I wanted to stay in the hospital. At least, he wouldn't give me a cold treatment when I was staying here.  Barbie stepped aside as the doctor approached and examined me while Addorro silently watched in a corner. I didn't think Addorro had come home yet because the jacket he was wearing was still the same last night. "How is she, Doctor?" Barbie asked after I was examined. "She is now fine. Just let her rest for a whole day here. Tonight if nothing happens, she can go home." Doctor answered. "Thank you very much doctor." "Is there no other test to be done to make sure she is okay?" Addorro asked coldly as the doctor was about to leave.  The doctor laid his palm to Addorro's shoulder and tapped it twice, "Don't worry Bro, your little wife is fine." Addorro pulled away his arm and said, "I told you---" He was halted suddenly as he glanced at me and had no other choice but smiled as he thanked the doctor.  "I am going to buy you two something to eat. You two talk." Addorro said after the doctor stepped out of the room. And before he exited the door too, I said, "Thank you." and his response to me was a nod.  "Great! You are now really fine. You scared me to death." Barbie exclaimed as she hugged me again.  "I'm sorry." I whispered.  "It's fine. As long as you are fine. Oh, by the way, Ma'am Denice came to visit you and you are asleep so she just left without saying goodbye to you. Maybe, she will come again after work." "Thank you." I answered as I leaned my head on her.  "Silly girl. You really scared me." Barbie said as she traced her finger on my nose.  "Barbie, don't you think Addorro is worried for me?"  "Of course. If you had just seen it personally with your two eyes I am sure you are now jumping here in joy. You don't know how angry he was to the four uncles like he wanted to beat them up. Moreover, he didn't even leave here yet to take care of his business. Addorro Smiles seems cold but he is actually a good and reliable man." I sat straight and held Barbie's hands, and smiled "Do you think he will like me?"  Barbie chuckled as she eyed me, "That depends on your effort. Wait, why are you asking me that? How would I know if he would like you. I know nothing about love, My God." "You are right! I should not have asked you. You can't even tell your feelings, how much more minding mine." I sighed and fell my head on her lap again, and stated, "I didn't expect, it is actually good to get sick." Barbie knocked my forehead. "Pooh! Pooh! You silly girl, don't curse yourself. Otherwise, I will throw you in the window." Both of us laughed at each other.
