Chapter 32: Patient's Husband?

*BARBIE HEAVENWARD*
"Lieutenant, do you know him? Why did you call him brother?" I asked as the stranger already joined in the darkness. I was really confused and wondering who he was. The part of my mind was shouting and eager to know him. Was I becoming a muddle headed? Why did I have too many individuals running inside my mind?
Addorro Smiles shook his head. He was like an ice, expressionless person. "I don't know him but he reminds me of someone else. By the way Miss Heavenward, I will send you home. Wait for a while, I will call my colleague to pick these old jerks."
"Alright! Please." While Addorro was calling on the phone, I was rubbing Melanie's shoulder and sometimes fixing her messy hair as a result from what had happened. I didn't know if she was okay or not because she was not crying. My only concern was that she did not speak.
"Melanie, it's over. We're okay now. But if you want to cry just cry here on my shoulder." I whispered to Melanie but she still did not answer. So I got really nervous. Even though Addorro hadn't finished talking on the phone, I called him. "Mr. Smiles, can you please? Take us to the nearest hospital."
"No problem Miss Heavenward. But what about these bastards? Wait." He thought and took care of the person he was talking to on the phone at the same time and just said, "Get these people to Venedicto Hospital.
After he turned off the phone he first confronted the uncles, "You three, get in the car. But this is what you should remember, never plan to run away or do things I do not like. You do not know what I am when I get angry. "Addorro's voice was low but it was full of authority. The uncles quickly followed and huddled inside the second line of the car seat.
He took Melanie from me and carried her into the car and I also followed them inside. The uncles bowed as I looked at them badly.
After Addorro wore a seat belt, he looked at the three uncles. I didn't know if it was true or I was just illusioning but it seems I saw Addorro's eyes glaze over with anger before facing the steering wheel again as he threatened the three, "If something goes wrong with her, don't even think about getting out of jail."
I rubbed my palms with my arms because I felt my hair stand on end while whispering in my mind, "He is scary."
"Sir, we realize our mistake now. Please forgive us." Said the rockist uncle.
"Yes sir. Please forgive us. We won't do it again. Sir, pity us. My kids are still young. They can't live without a father." The toothless uncle said.
"Yes-"
The third one was about to speak out of his plea when. Addorro shouted, "You all shut up!"
All of them quieted down. While I almost jumped in panic. Later, he also started the car. But before we could leave the area, an ambulance arrived and loaded the unconscious fat uncle.

I wandered out of the room where Melanie was. It was as if I was going back to the past where I also took my dad to the hospital. The fear of losing an important person in life freshened inside my heart again. I sat in the waiting chair and cried as I covered my face with both hands.
Addorro sat next to me with his hands resting in his pocket. Whether he admitted it or not I could read he was also worried.
"Miss Heavenward, calm down first. I'm sure she'll be okay. " He said.
I sat up straight and wiped away my tears with my hands before taking a glance on him, "I hope so." That's all I said. I actually wanted to ask him if he was also worried but I restrained myself.
He reached into his pocket and then handed me his cellphone.
"What is this for?" I wondered as I accepted the phone.
"You might want to call someone to let them know what happened. Borrow my phone and give them a call."
"Nevermind! I don't have her family's contact number."
I was about to return the phone when he added, "Then call your colleagues or her subordinates at work. Tell them that you are here. Maybe they could inform her family."
I thought for a while and only the ma'am Denice number came into my mind. I quickly dialed her number.
"Hello?" Her voice on the phone obviously got disturbed from her sleep. "What do you think the time is now? You are disturbing people man, do you know that? Who the hell are you?"
"Ma'am Denice, I am so sorry for disturbing you but I just want to tell you that I and Miss Smith are now in the hospital. If you know her family number, please let them know. Thank you." I said in my vibrating tone.
"Wait! Barbie? What hospital? What happened to you?" Ma'am Denice's voice began to panic. "How is Miss Smith?"
"I don't know yet. The doctor is still checking on her inside." My sobbed finally escaped from my eyes.
"Okay. Okay. Calm down. I will be right there in five minutes. Wait for me. Don't panic, okay?"
"Okay." As I returned the phone to Addorro, I didn't speak because I was afraid that would cry aloud.
Addorro stood up when he received his phone, "I will go out and buy you something to eat. What do you want?"
I caressed my stomach. I almost forgot that it had been complaining hungry earlier, "Thank you Mr. Smiles. Anything is fine. I am indeed hungry."
He nodded, "Okay."
Addorro took a few steps when the door suddenly opened and the doctor was released.
I stood up and greeted him, but the doctor did not address me but Addorro instead.
"You must be the patient's husband." He said seriously. "Don't worry. She is fine now. She just needs enough rest and comfort. The patient is emotionally unstable so please don't upset her.".
Addorro was mouth opened as he pointed to himself in surprise, "Me? Her husband? Doctor, you seem to misunderstand something."
The doctor smiled, shaking his head. "I never misunderstood things." He said and tapped Addorro's shoulder. "Be a good husband. Take good care of your wife."
Even though I was terribly worried, hearing what the doctor said and seeing Addorro's reaction, I couldn't help but laugh.
Addorro was stunned. Finally, his cold face showed reaction. It said, 'Since when did I become a husband of someone?'
