The creature's roar shook the earth beneath our feet.
I watched Kai, this ghost from Sera's past, throw himself at the thing that shouldn't exist. His massive gray wolf collided with something that looked like a nightmare given form.
"Run!" Kai's voice echoed in my head through the pack link he'd somehow tapped into. "Get them out of here!"
But more shapes were emerging from the darkness. Surrounding us.
I shifted mid-stride, my black wolf bursting free. Positioned myself between Sera and the approaching monsters.
