Chapter 2 - Souls

"I think there are others who died with us as well. Do you remember even their faces?" "I don't Ellie. I'm not sure. I remember Mila a junior who hangs out with Drake because she's his flavor of the month. But I'm not sure if she got out or not." "Eh? Mila? Like Mila the Vanilla? Doesn't she just do vanilla that's why Drake dropped her?" Jason chuckled. Some things just never change. Pinching Ellie's cheek, he jokingly told her off. "Eh? Ellie? Really? We're ghosts, we don't gossip." "Says who? It's boring enough to be dead. Let's find something funny in everything, anything." They both laughed with how strange being dead is. "Strange that we can still feel emotions." "E, we're not zombies. I think us feels the emotions much like when we're alive? I'm not sure. But I've heard that there are different types of ghosts. There are angry ones, there are sad ones. I guess we're just the confused type." Subconsciously, she put her head on his shoulders. Jason felt the familiar ache in his chest, much like the ache he felt when Matt got to her first. When they were still alive. It shouldn't feel this way still. "Will we ever know what we're here for?" "I hope so. If we don't, we'll make our own purpose." They both stared into nothing. Ellie's head resting on his shoulder. Jason leaning a bit further to make her position comfortable. Letting time pass to take away their worries. ~~~~~~~~~~ He remembered the first time he saw her. Dancing in the fields in her uniform, high pony with a big smile on her face. He thought she was pretty. The guys are hanging around her. Asking stupid questions just to get her attention. But Matt stood out. The golden good boy. His best friend. She started hanging out in their group along with other cheerleaders. She always smiled at him, sometimes talked to him. But they never really got to know each other much. Matt always made sure he has his face shoved on hers. Making sure no other boys can get to her. Branding her with his kisses. Putting up a wall around her with their relationship. He brushed off his feelings. It's easier that way. He's somebody else's. ~~~~~~~~~~~ "We should find the others." "I don't know Ellie. I don't think it's a good idea to keep a band of ghosts around you. Isn't ghosts supposed to be alone? Solitary?" "Jason, please stop thinking of what should and whatnot. We need to get out of here. We can't be trapped here forever. Here's what should: Souls are not supposed to co relate with the living. This is not our place anymore. How's that?" "Fine. So, where should we start looking?"
