WELCOME TO MY LIFE
"Everyone wants to be perfect. Hell, that's the only thing I dream about."
"People that think they are less than perfect are doing the maximum to be perfect, and the ones society deems perfect aren't satisfied and want more"
"A never ending cycle-".
"You know what, scratch that, I'm Janice Kade and I'm FAT. "
"This is the story of how my f****d up life changed in an instant. Let's start from the beginning."
Janice POV
"Like I said at the beginning, I'm Janice, and this is my story."
"I was born on 7th August 2009 at All Saint's Memorial hospital, Connecticut, to Mr and Mrs John Kade. My birth was a stressful one, both for the doctors and my parents, mostly my mom. There were a lot of complications and my mom almost didn't make it. I finally came out at a whooping 4.8kg, so as we can see, fat from birth."
"My life was pretty much perfect; loving parents, beautiful suburban house, anything I asked for and the best friend anyone could ever have, Michael."
"I was living a happy life until one day, the day before my 7th birthday, my parents came home from wherever they went to. My mom, in tears, ran up the stairs. I asked my dad what was wrong, but he couldn't even look at me."
"Let's go get you a snack", Chloe, my babysitter said, as she tried to distract me from my mother's wailing echoing around the house.
"The next day was like every other day except my mom was distant, my dad was angrier than normal, and ohh right, they forgot my birthday. They only seemed to remember when Michael came over with a birthday gift for me ( it was a Wendy the frog squishmallow)."
"They tried to make it up to me with store bought cupcakes and a juicebox, but i was only bothered about what was going on with my parents."
"It was a few years later when I jokingly asked for a sibling that I found out that on that day my mom had a miscarriage because, due to the complications during my birth, my mum would have a 7% chance of carrying a baby to term and even if she did, there's a high chance of death, of both my mom and the baby during delivery."
"I was devastated, I couldn't believe I was the reason my parents couldn't have another child and I, a sibling, all because I was FAT. But it has explained my dad's behavior towards me ever since."
"Since then, I have hated myself for being fat."
" It's 2025. I'm 16 now and I hate myself for being fat. That is until this wonderful institution taught me that I'm perfect just the way I am" I said jokingly, as I looked around the room to meet the eyes of our counselor, Miss Cordelia.
"Thank you Janice, for being brave enough to share your story," she said.
"And I promise not to intentionally harm myself again", I said sarcastically.
She smiled awkwardly as she turned to the next person to share their story.
I walked out of the graying building with my marble-patterned black and white suitcase trolling behind me. My mom smiled and waved as she opened the boot of her rundown Lexus LX 570.
I turned to give the building one last look. "f**k you Lotus Haven Springs".
