The elevator ride down felt like an eternity. I took several deep breaths, inhaling and exhaling deeply, and opened my eyes just as the elevator doors slid apart, revealing the final level. The dimly lit hallway was empty. After walking about a hundred meters, I reached the first door. I tried the lock—it opened. Immediately behind it was another, and I unlocked that one too.
