Chapter 1
Chapter One
Camilla
Today, I finally turned eighteen years old.
My name is Camilla Rose of the Valentino Pack. I am the daughter of the Alpha of our pack, Alpha George, and his wife, Luna Emily. I call her Luna Emily because she has never really been a mother to me.
Ever since I was little, we have never been close. She never showed me love or care. She never smiled at me or played with me the way she did with my younger siblings, Juliet and Gael. She could barely stand me. Sometimes, she would beat me badly for no reason at all, like I was some kind of criminal. My father would always turn a blind eye, as if I wasn't his daughter.
He once told me that I needed to be strong and tough to overcome every challenge in life. But Juliet and Gael were never punished or treated harshly, even when they did something wrong. They were loved and spoiled by everyone in the Valentino Pack.
That's why today is so important to me.
It's the biggest day of my life.
Today, I'll finally prove that I'm worthy and earn the respect of everyone in the pack, including Luna Emily and my siblings, who never stop making fun of me for being weak.
Juliet and Gael both got their wolves when they were fifteen, which is why they have always been treated differently. When they got their wolves and I didn't get mine, everything changed for me.
Most of my friends started seeing me as a weakling. No one cared about me anymore.
The only person who stayed by my side was Carl, my future mate and boyfriend. He is a year older than me, and his wolf is very powerful. He always told me that my wolf would come one day, even though it had taken much longer than normal.
In our world, getting your wolf at fifteen means you're strong and healthy. If you get your wolf at sixteen, it means you're healthy but not very strong. But if you don't get your wolf by seventeen, or at most eighteen, you're considered wolfless and weak.
That's why I've been training every day and trying to reach my wolf. I know I'm not wolfless just because I didn't transform early.
Today, I'll prove everyone wrong.
Once I transform into my wolf, I'll finally earn the respect I deserve. I'll also be able to enroll in the Werewolf Royal Academy, a school created to train young wolves to become stronger and learn how to use their powers. The academy also teaches us about our history and our royal bloodline. It was built by the Lycan King and Queen, the rulers of all the wolf packs.
Ever since I was a little girl, it has been my dream to study there.
That's why I have to transform today.
If I don't... I'll lose my only chance to attend the Werewolf Royal Academy.
"Okay, Lysandra... I hope you're ready. Please don't let me down," I muttered quietly, hoping my wolf could hear me.
I know she's in there.
A few months ago, she spoke to me when I tried to end my life after Luna Emily almost beat me to death.
I was so hurt and frustrated that I went to the cliff behind our pack to end everything.
That was when Lysandra spoke to me.
She begged me not to give up.
She told me she believed in me. She said I had a great future ahead of me and asked me to keep holding on. She promised that when the time was right, she would appear, and I would become powerful.
Today is the day I hope she keeps that promise.
The hope she gave me...
The promise that one day I would become as powerful as my mates.
The wall clock suddenly chimed, signaling that it was noon, the time for every eighteen-year-old in the pack to reveal their wolf.
I had already tied my hair into a tight bun. I wore a simple top and leather pants and carried a spare set of clothes for when I shifted back into my human form.
Taking a deep breath, I stepped out of my room and headed to the open field where every wolf in the pack had gathered. My heart was beating so fast as I walked. Every step brought me closer to the moment that would decide my future.
"Hello, everyone," my father, Alpha George, greeted as soon as everyone had gathered.
I stood with the other nine members who were also turning eighteen today.
"Welcome to the Turning Ceremony. Today, ten members of our pack will reveal their wolves. Please cheer them on as they transform."
Everyone clapped as the first boy stepped forward.
He looked calm and confident. He closed his eyes, and within seconds, the sound of bones cracking filled the air. A large brown wolf stood where he had been. It threw its head back and let out a loud howl.
The crowd burst into cheers.
My father nodded proudly, and Luna Emily smiled. It was a real smile, the kind she only gave people she believed were worthy.
One after another, they all transformed.
Grey wolves.
White wolves.
Black wolves.
Brown wolves.
Each successful transformation made my heart beat even faster.
"Please, Lysandra," I begged silently. "Please be there. Don't let them be right about me."
"And now... my daughter, Camilla Rose."
My father's voice echoed across the field.
The cheering stopped immediately.
I could feel everyone's eyes on me.
I looked at Juliet.
She was leaning against the wall, whispering something to her friends. They all laughed while looking at me.
Gael looked bored. He checked his watch as if my biggest moment was nothing but a waste of his time.
Slowly, I walked onto the platform.
"Begin," Alpha George ordered.
There was no warmth in his voice.
No encouragement.
No pride.
It was simply an order.
I closed my eyes and searched deep inside me.
I reached for the same connection I had felt on the cliff that day.
"Lysandra," I called softly.
"It's time.
Show them.
Show everyone."
I waited to feel my bones breaking.
I waited for my skin to stretch.
I pulled with every bit of strength I had, hoping my wolf would answer me.
Seconds passed.
Nothing happened.
My body remained the same.
I was still standing there in my top and leather pants, looking like a fool in front of the entire pack.
"Camilla!"
Luna Emily's sharp voice broke the silence.
"We don't have all day."
"I'm trying," I replied, my voice shaking.
My face burned with embarrassment.
I squeezed my eyes shut even tighter.
"Lysandra... please. You promised."
I waited.
And waited.
But I couldn't hear her voice.
Nothing.
It was as if she had disappeared.
"Enough."
My father's voice hit me harder than a slap.
I slowly opened my eyes.
He was staring at me with nothing but anger and disappointment.
"Ten minutes have passed, Camilla," he said coldly. "The ceremony is over."
"No, Father, please!" I cried.
"I felt something. She's in there. I know she is."
My voice broke as tears filled my eyes.
I looked into the crowd, searching for Carl.
Our eyes met for a second.
Then he looked away.
As if he was ashamed of me.
"You're eighteen years old, Camilla Rose," Luna Emily said, glaring at me.
"And you have no wolf."
"From today onward, you are an Omega."
"You will work every minute, every hour, and every day of your life serving this pack."
Send **"Continue"** and I'll continue with the rest of Chapter One in exactly the same style until the entire chapter is finished.
