The Owl Wood Pack

1125 Words
Camille's POV I was still reeling from my encounter with Gustavo at the airport. I hated the feelings that overwhelmed me. Three years had not dulled the way I felt towards Gustavo and I feared that my return back to Canada would open closed wounds. Lauren and Laurent were already asleep, from exhaustion. “Are you alright? I heard that Alpha Gustavo made a scene at the airport.” Beta Frank asked. Beta Frank knew of my history with Gustavo. As the eyes and ears of the pack, he got to find out sooner than later about my time at the Ruby pack. “ I'll be fine after a cup of coffee and a nice bath.” I responded with a chuckle at the end. My chuckle was a sign that I did not want to talk about the incident at the airport, I just wanted to be done with the reason why I returned back to Canada and go back to England. Dressed in all black, from head to toe, I tucked the twins in, placing a peck on each of their cheeks before leaving for the wolf ball. As an omega, I felt inferior and unseen. The fate of the Redwood pack depended on how well I represented Alpha Benjamin today. The moment I made an appearance, at the wolf ball, I felt eyes, menacing and unwelcoming poking holes through my pack. My wolf moved with discomfort and I felt uneasy. “Did Benjamin send a weak omega to do his dirty work?” The Alpha of the owl blue pack asked menacingly. With a clear voice, I made an introduction of myself, I began with putting the members of the owl wood pack in their place. “This weak Omega knows a lot more than any of you can comprehend.” I diplomatically hissed out. The shocked look on their faces after I spoke boosted my confidence. “I've heard a lot about you, Omega. Your work abroad is astonishing and I have one of your collections with me as we speak. Do you want to see it?” Alpha Rowland, the Alpha of the owl wood pack said. “It will be my pleasure.” The treaty was going better than I pictured it. I followed the Alpha and he did not lie when he said he owned one of my paintings. As I admired my painting, I did not notice when one of the members of the owl wood pack ambushed me from behind, knocking the air off my windpipe. “Little cunt. Her dead body will be delivered as a parcel to Benjamin. The treaty is off the table for his show of disrespect.” I heard the Alpha of the owl wood pack say with my wolf ears. ****************************** The place where I was kept hostage smelt of rot, wet ground and sewage. My wolf felt distant and unresponsive like I could not feel her anymore. I had signed my death sentence when I agreed to helping Alpha Benjamin. “Please let me go,” I pleaded for my life. The Alpha of the owl wood pack saw me as a weak representation that should not even be at the wolf ball. I needed to get out of here for the sake of my babies who needed their mommy. “Alpha Benjamin, after years of discord, sent you in order to make it known that he has no intention of calling a truce. He sent a weak beta with a weak wolf!” The Alpha thundered angrily. “Leave the omega to me Rowland and head back inside. I'll take care of her.” I recognized that voice. The tingly sensation in my chest and my wolf awakening suddenly could only be the work of Gustavo. I heard retreating footsteps and then silence. Gustavo removed the blindfold on my eyes and his green eyes caught me in its depth. “Camille.” He called my name like it held the key to solving his life problems. I could not escape him like I did at the airport. “Are you alright? Did they hurt you?” He asked while scanning my body with his eyes. I felt vulnerable under his gaze and I hated it. I dusted myself off the ground and walked away from him but not far enough because he caught up with me. “What do you want from me Gustavo? You have no business with me and I owe you nothing.” I spat out angrily Gustavo had changed over the years, his long black hair had a nice trim and sculpted his cheek bones to perfection. I tried to remind myself countless times since today why I hated him. “You owe me your life. I just saved you from being decapitated.” He pointed out. He was right, I owed him my life and I had him to thank for not getting killed. I caught him looking at me, his heated gaze fixated on me. I hated the way I felt being this close to him. I moved backwards and continued to walk away. He held me gently by the wrist and moved his mouth inaudibly. “What did you do with the pregnancy? Did you get rid of it?” His question erupted anger within me, I growled, my wolf angry by Gustavo's audacious question. Last I checked, he left, betrayed our bond and abandoned me because of the pregnancy. “ I got rid of it the day I left the pack or is that not what you wanted?” I had to lie. I saw no need to tell him the truth. Lauren and Laurent were mine, I planned on keeping it that way. “I need to tell you the full story on what happened that day and why I behaved the way I did.” He sounded remorseful and I almost bought into his act. But, when I remembered his betrayal, engaging the daughter of the silver raven pack, and making a fool out of me, I had a rethink. “There is no need to explain yourself to me Gustavo. I have moved on from you and I no longer care about you.” I confronted him boldly, forcing myself to believe my own words. “Are you sure you don't love me anymore?” Gustavo asked, making deliberate steps towards me. I tried to think straight as he covered the space between us, his green eyes trapping me, making it difficult for me to speak. “Yes, I d—” In one swift move, Gustavo captured my face in the palm of his hands, his lips falling on mine, claiming me and shutting me up.
