The Prophesy

Davina woke up the next morning excited to go to school and tell her best friend Lena about getting her wolf. Lena’s parents were both alphas, and also king and queen of the Blue Sequoyah Pack. Davina’s parents were of beta blood, so she assumed her aura would naturally develop into a beta’s aura as well. King Erik Frederickson and queen Helena were very well respected and wealthy. Lena didn’t seem like a princess though because she was actually quite a wild card! Davina loved Lena for that. Lena was always so much fun to be around and very open minded as well. Davina was more shy and reserved for the most part, while Lena was very social. Davina and Lena had so many good memories together. Once they even skipped school to go swimming in Black Creek. They ended up being dragged back to the school by one of the campus guards. They still laughed about that to this day. Davina walked through the school hallway clutching her book bag close to her. She could feel peoples eyes on her from time to time and it always made her super self conscious. She never knew if their thoughts of her were good or bad, and was way too shy to dare ask. She desperately wanted to come out of her shell. She didn’t realize at the time that these were all after effects of how Richard treated her. She never felt good enough. Then a voice broke her away from her anxious thoughts, “Hey Davina!” Lena came running up to her with a paper in her hands. “Look at what the school is doing!” Lena shoved the paper in Davina’s hands and Davina glanced down at the paper curiously. It read: “Early summer training is now available for recruitment of pack warriors.” Lena exclaimed, “Let’s do it! We can do it and sign up together like old times! Come on, it’ll be a blast! Besides, wouldn’t you like to get a punch or two in at some of these rude jocks! Just imagine, Wilson and the rest of his goonies like Carter and Jack getting knocked off of their feet! Even if it’s not us that takes them down a notch, it would be fun to see them eat dirt!” Davina thought for a moment and spoke, “Well.. I have been considering the possibility of being a pack warrior one day.. and who knows, maybe I’ll even be good at it.. It’s worth a shot! We won’t know unless we give it a try! I’m in!” Davina smiled brightly. She was amused by Lena’s vision of Wilson’s clique getting a little payback. Wilson and his goonies were always picking on someone less fortunate, whether it be looks or how awkward they were. Once in the sixth grade they made fun of her for wearing handed down clothes. They said she looked like a boy. Eventually they stopped picking on her though. She could only assume it was because they found better targets. She felt sorry for the poor unfortunate souls that would be laughed at by them. What she didn’t know was that Wilson actually had a crush on her. But that scenario would never happen. Davina would never date someone so shallow and rude like Wilson. She wasn’t sure what her type was, or if she even had one. She sometimes fantasized about meeting someone that could be both strong and smart, but mostly kind and thoughtful. She heard stories of people finding their mates and contemplated what it would be like to find her mate, someone chosen especially for her. She wandered if she even had a mate out there somewhere. She was low key excited about trying out this warrior training program. It took place after school and she would have to talk Jolene into letting her do it. Training started tomorrow evening so she had to get approval fast. It didn’t cost anything, just time after all, and tomorrow was her birthday so maybe Jolene would be more willing to let her try it out if she asked for it as a birthday present. The school training grounds wasn’t far from where she lived, she could walk if necessary. She would do anything to get out of the house and away from Richard and this was an ideal opportunity, especially considering that she wasn’t sure what she was going to do once she left home. She didn’t have much experience out in the world, hardly any at all. She silently hoped that this would give her some direction. Class seemed to go slowly as time dragged on and she planned how she would ask Jolene and get Jolene to approve of her joining the pack training program. She was nearly falling asleep in Lycan Literature when the teacher, Mr. Stogner, started talking about the Dire Wolf Prophesy. Mr. Stogner spoke up saying, “One day you will all wish you had listened more closely in this class! The Crimson Wolf will be a tyrant like no one has ever seen, and not one of you are mature enough to know how to handle a situation like that. He will turn brother against brother, pack against pack. The best thing you all can do is pay attention to what I am telling you and go sign up for warrior training while you’ve got the chance. Some elite warriors from Green River have volunteered to teach you heathens and you’d be smart to take advantage of this opportunity. If what they say about the Dire Wolf is true then it could be any one of you and you’d better be prepared to go toe to toe with the Crimson Wolf. He’s not going to take it easy on you, he’s not going to discriminate. You will die, bottom line.” Wilson interjected, “Well gosh Mr. Stogner that’s a harsh thing to tell us children.” He grinned and elbowed Carter who was sitting beside him. Mr. Stogner glared in disapproval. Just then the bell rang, ending the class session. “Now get out of my class you bunch of degenerates!” shouted Mr. Stogner as a few people were snickering on their way out. After class, Lena caught up to Davina and said, “Hey, why don’t you ride with me to training tomorrow evening?” Davina beamed, “That would be awesome! I’ll have to check with Jolene first though.” Lena responded, “Alright well just let me know in the morning!” That evening at home Davina finished her homework and chores early. She managed to catch a moment with Jolene alone while Richard was in the bathroom and she knew she had to make it fast. “Hey mom..” said Davina. “There’s a training program at school for potential future pack warriors and since it’s my birthday tomorrow I’d really like to try it.. Mr. Stogner says all of the senior kids should participate..” Jolene looked up from her phone and said, “How much does it cost?” Davina looked hopeful. “It’s free. And also Lena said I could ride with her.” replied Davina. Davina didn’t have a car, and even if she did she probably would never be allowed to go anywhere. “Well, if Mr. Stogner approves, it sounds like something that will be good for you.” said Jolene. Davina smiled and hurried off to her room before Richard returned. She layed in bed that night looking forward to her birthday for once.
