“I mean when you look at, it could be true”
Nia was talking to Becca in her apartment after work.
“Nah, that man is too fine to be gay” Becca said.
“Becca you didn't see this actress, she was so pretty, and she was giving this man all the signs and the look on his face was disgusting. What do you make of that?”
“Well I do don't know okay, maybe he just didn't like her, now quit talking about your boss and tell me how your day went”
“Becca there's nothing special, just the same old, same old. So what about you? I can see Mr Romeo is not here.
“Why don't you like Robin, you know he tries.”
“Girl please the only thing he cares about is your p and you know that”
“And who said I don't like that part, girl please you are just jealous cause i'm getting laid and you're not. Becca said amidst laughter.
“ Well something strange happened today I forgot to mention, so the News that I went to dinner with the CEO is already spreading throughout the office like wildfire, even though I just went there to take minutes. Even Irene is giving me a little smug attitude”
“Wait you mean Irene your immediate boss?”
“ Yes I think she likes him too”?
“ Is there any female working at Timeline communications that does not want to go out with Christopher?”
“Please count me out” Nia said
“Oh please spare me Nia, you blush anytime you talk about the man, you like him but you're not willingly to admit.
“I do not, he's mean, he's rude a misogynistic sadist”
“Okay girl, you got things to say”
“ Yea I think i'm going to call it a night I have to go work tomorrow okay, say hi to Robin for me”
“Nia you don't mean that”
“No I don't” she said smiling.
Still at the office Christopher called Gregory into his office.
“Gregory, what do you think about Nia Williams?”
“Well sir at first I didn't like her, but she's really smart. Like most of the ideas that Irene comes to you with are actually Nia's.”
“Is that so?”
“ Yeah and quite beautiful I might add”
“Ok Gregory that would be all, have my driver come pick me up okay”.
“Alright sir.
The next day at work, Nia was informed by Gregory that Christopher wanted her to come alongside him to a corporate event later that evening. She wondered why her, and so did Irene as well. She was still in her thoughts when Christopher interrupted her.
“I will pick you up by 7, at your home address don't be late”.
Before she could reply or ask why she was coming along, he left, leaving her In wonder.
He picked her up later that evening and they were headed to the venue. He asked the driver to make a stop at a fashion house and he did. Confused, Nia asked
“Sir why are we stopping here”
“ Because you can't go out with me looking like that”
“Excuse me, I'm not changing my outfit.”
“ You will if you want to keep your job”
How low can this man go, she thought to herself. Using my job to threaten me? Really?.
She was ushered into the dressing room by the stylist and a range of clothes were given to her to try on until Christopher approved the one he wanted. She was also asked to change her shoes and had a total make over. By the time they were done she was looking stunning. Though she loved it, she didn't like that Christopher had a problem with what she wore.
They arrived at the event and she could sense all the scowls and snares that were coming to her from ladies that wanted him for themselves. They had a seat and all the ladies one after the other came to say hello or hi in one way or the other.
“You look really nice Christopher” the blonde girl said.
A-lot was happening at the event and she was taking minutes.
Christopher noticed this and asked her?
“ Why are you taking minutes, this isn't a meeting”
“Well you know the last time I went on an evening date with you you had me work as your P.A. taking minutes, I thought that was the same reason I was here” Nia replied.
“ Okay, first of all this isn't a date, you accompanied me here , that's it.”
“Can I ask why”
“ Do you always ask too many questions?”
“Oh I have a lot of questions sir for example why did you have me change and why am I here since you said am not to function as your PA”.
He owed her no explanation he could even ignore her for all he likes but weirdly he found himself answering her.
“ I had you change cause your clothes were hideous, and I brought you here to use you as a deflection for all these gold diggers throwing themselves at me.”
“Waw! Ok sir first of all I like my clothes thank you, and secondly what makes you think they are after your money, that could just like you for you”.
“ Yea right. A woman likes you for you” he said sarcastically.
“ Well am not saying that money is not important am just saying that real love exists that's all”
“ You know what? Can you just be quiet, thank you.”
The event came to an end and Time line communications was presented an award, with a man giving a speech on how Timeline is lucky to have a detailed, smart and articulate CEO.
He dropped Nia home and her parents came to the door.
“Wait, you live with your parents?” He asked in shock.
