Despite the weather being warmer, temperatures inside the tunnel fell to the point of being chilly as the night progressed. Todd had given up the crate for the ground and wasn’t surprised sitting in the dirt was more comfortable. There hadn’t been much activity at the depot, and they’d been able to keep watch fairly easily while still staying out of sight.
Todd could tell Nick was less anxious about the situation. He hoped his mate could accept the possibility they might not find Jah’lar. Nick settled down beside Todd, and the two of them pressed together for warmth. Despite the tunnels being secluded, they still worried a fire would give away that they lurked inside.
