Book One Varsity Bad Boy: Chapter 5

801 Words
Liam After I finish my first class, I have a break before my next lecture, so I head back to the house to do some homework. When I arrive, I see Mikey, who is part of the O-line and lives in the house with me. “Mikey, how’s it going?” I ask him. “Too much fun last night, bro. Too much,” he groans. “That’s why I cut myself off at four and stuck to water,” I tell him. “I’ll have to try that next time. I’d rather be tackled in a game than deal with this hangover,” he replies. “Got a question for you: the chick Olivia who lives next door—do you know anything about her?” I ask. “Other than she bitches a lot at us, that one roommate is gay, and she’s on some type of scholarship? I got nothing,” he says. Then he looks up at me and adds, “Is this because she came here last night in the red dress?” “You knew it was her?” I ask. “Took a minute, but I realized it was her. It's rare she wears makeup; I saw her one other time with it on. That’s how I knew it was her—she stands out when she wears it,” he explains. “Yeah, she sure does stand out. Wait, how do you know all this?” I ask. “I thought she was cute. Good luck trying to tap her; she’s hard to get,” he says. “Why do you say that?” My curiosity prompts me to ask. “She’s a girl living next to football players. You don’t think a few of us have tried?” he replies. “She challenged me last night. She told me to get to know her—really know her—and then she’d go to bed with me,” I tell him. He looks at me, incredulous. “Are you shitting me?” “I swear to God,” I say. “Bro, that’s easy then. Go ask the gay roommate. I’m sure he’d tell you anything you want if you flex in front of him,” Mikey laughs. “Dude, I’m not flexing in front of him. He isn’t my type!” I tell him. But asking him isn’t a bad idea. --- Olivia “Hey, Olivia, wait up!” a voice calls as I’m heading to my creative writing class. I turn to see Jill. We’ve hung out a few times, and she’s nice. She’s in the Kappa sorority. “Hey, Jill,” I say as she gets closer. “Piper is at our house. She kind of crashed last night,” Jill says. Piper is my other housemate. She tends to be the party person of the house. “I knew she wasn’t home when I got back from the football house party. I didn’t realize she stayed out all night,” I reply. “You went to the football house party?” Jill asks, her eyes widening. “Yeah, Anthony and I decided to crash it. We were only there for about an hour—just long enough for me to tell that jackass Liam off,” I explain. She laughs and says, “Oh, I’m sure you telling him off went over well.” “Actually, I think I blindsided him. Let’s just say I left him speechless,” I tell her. “What did you do?” she asks. “He tried to get me to go to bed with him, but he didn’t know my name—not even a guess. So, I challenged him. He needs to get to know me—really get to know me,” I explain. “And if he gets to really know you, I’m afraid to ask, but what does he get?” Jill asks. “I may have said that he could share my bed,” I admit. “What!” Jill gasps. “All I said was share a bed. I didn’t say I would have s*x with him. I just said I would share a bed,” I clarify. She laughs and says, “Oh damn! You are so smart! First rule of a contract: make sure you read the wording right!” “Yep, maybe if he actually takes the time to get to know a girl, he will realize she is more than just a plaything,” I shrug. “Good luck with that! We better get to class. Catch you around campus, and hopefully Piper gets back to your house okay,” she says. One of these days, Piper’s partying is going to catch up with her, and then she’ll be in trouble.
