Chapter 8: Vanessa
(Is She Mommy?)
Maggie was quick to blurt out the silliest comment ever.
“s**t. You're Christian Bowen?” I almost face-palmed at her words.
“Yes, I am. Nice to meet you—” Christian let the statement hang while stretching his hand forward for a handshake.
“Maggie. The name's Maggie.” She blushed as they shook hands while I sat uncomfortably on the stool beside her. Lively chatter from the customers present sufficed for music.
“So what are you doing here? Do you work here? I thought you…”
“I'm an events planner. I stopped by to visit Maggie. She's my friend and she also owns this place.” I gestured around.
“That's amazing, Vanessa.” He said with a smile and I almost winced because of how he said my name.
He says my name like he knows me.
