Chapter Twenty-Seven“Grey sends his apologies,” Jed began as they all stood at the dock. “He has some pressing matters to attend to.” The giant cast a glance over at Kurt. “See to it that no harm comes to them. Grey decrees it.”
“No bother,” the smaller man huffed. “I just wanna get back home. This place gives me the shivers.”
“The provisions provided should see you across the water,” Jed said confidently.
“Well, girls, let's get aboard,” Emma chirped happily, unaware of the tension at the quayside. Scarlett and Lauren hopped over the ship's rail, giggling and dancing, running through a door under the wheelhouse.
“Oi,” Kurt yelled. “Don't go trashing me ship.” He followed the girls hastily, Emma keeping close by, leaving Jake, Wilf, Tamatan and Jed together.
