The Magic slap

Esi p.o.v

It is early in the morning when Esi finds herself at the bus station. If she says that she knows how she found herself here, then she will be lying. How her mother managed to get her in the bus station was a secret that only God knows. When her eyes landed on the time on her phone that she is holding she saw that it's already 5:15.

It is too early for a girl like her to be awake normally she will sleep still she forgets herself and the fact that she has to go to school. Even the alarm doesn't work on her the only thing that's able to wake her up to date is her mother and the way she knocks at her door. Sometimes Esi asks herself why her mother didn't join a blast band. Because her mother has already changed her room door five times this year.

The bus was also fill up with travellers. She is seated by the window and he mother was standing outside to make sure that her luggage is well kept on the bus and nothing is left behind. Esi is lost in her world that she didn't notice her mother standard outside her window. It was only when her mother called her louder that she came back to earth.

She looked at her mother with sorrow in her eyes with the hope that her mother will change her decision but who is she fooling?. Once her mother decides something nothing and not even money that she loves soo much was going to change her mind. She already classified her mother in the category of people with the mind of the iron rod. Bloke headed people. " Everything is settled by noon you should be there and don't forget to call me every hour until you reach your destination.

Then your father will be there to pick you up." She said but Esi just nodes her head. At this point, her faith is sealed. The bus began to move. she turn a face away from her mother she didn't want to look at her in fear that she might cry. "Remember that I love you!!!!" She hears her mother shout. It is too painful for her to leave the city that she loves soo much.

The ambience of the city is something she is going to miss and the way the streets sellers always runs after cars in the traffic just so as they could buy from them. Not only that the people living in the city don't sleep. Every hour of the day either daytime or nighttime there are always people around.

She also remembered that she didn't get the chance to say goodbye to her sister Ama that alone break her heart and she starts to cry. Her sister has always been supportive. She stood up for her every time she gets in trouble and she will be the one to calm their mother. Ama is kind to everyone moreover, she never gets in trouble.

She's the ideal child every family will want to have and to top it all she's very intelligent. Unlike Esi who is always in trouble. Her mother always told her how a disappointment she is. The thing that is more painful to Esi is the way her mother never asked her side of the story he hears. she is quick to jump to conclusions. She very much doubts the words her mother said a while ago "I love you".

Those three coming from her mother's mouth sounded like a foreign language in Esi's ears. She wipes her tears and decides to have a look at the city she was born and have come to love. She doesn't know when she will return because this is a way for her mother to get rid of her.

The tall buildings, street lights and the city ambience are beginning to fade away. She turned and bit them her goodbye before looking forward to her new life ahead of her.

" Are you okay?" She hears someone asked. She turns and looks at her side to see a young guy of about 18 years or so. Since she entered the bus she didn't get the chance to look at the rest of the passengers.

" Yes, I'm okay " she answered and takes her time to look at the rest of the passengers. They were many and most of the passengers were merchandisers because of the unique way they are dress and the thing that defined them are the different goods they are holding in between their legs. Esi saw a woman chatting with a girl younger than her and she wishes that she and her mother could get along. however, when she thinks of what transpired yesterday between her and her mother, it breaks her heart more.

" Why can't you be like your sister? Why are you always ready to disgrace this family? Because of you, we have become the talk of the town." Her mother shouted at she wants to tell her mother what happened but her mother wouldn't let her talk as she continues to talk "I'm tired of you already every day is the same. First thing tomorrow morning you will go to your father in the village because I have had enough already an..."

"But mo..."

"No, and if I hear one word, from your mouth again you will see." Her mother said but Esi is determined to tell her mother what happened.

"Listen to me mom plea..." but before she could finish her sentence a heavy sound echoed in Esi ear as if they were ringing the church bell in her ear. She lost her hearing for almost a minute before it all settles down her brain that her mother just slapped her. This was the first time her mother slapped her.

So she decided to keep her mother shut and comply with her mother's decision.

Seated on the bus, she could still feel pain in her ear and she is sure that if not now, then in future she will have a problem with that side of her ear. She wants to cry when she thinks about that slap it was magical and powerful, to say the least.
