Spoons

“Alpha, it’s better we find out now so she can protect herself later. This is a controlled environment where she can figure it out safely.” Jayce let’s go of his shoulder and breathes deeply. “Fine!” He angrily agrees to something. “What’s in the cabinet?” “Spoons.” “Are they haunted or something?” I ask, confused. He kind of chuckles. “No, let’s just go in.” We walk in. Only Jayce holds me close now like he is scared. What can be scary about spoons? “Gwendolyn, please go and open that green cabinet over there.” I walk over to it with Jayce right behind me. I open the doors slowly, and not surprisingly, there are spoons. Each one looks different from the other, and they are displayed each on their own hook. “Gwen do you feel okay?” Jayce asks. “I feel just fine. I'm a little weirded out, but I am not ill in any way.” “Gwendolyn, can you just touch the spoon that has the letter I on it?” “Sure!” I touch the spoon, and nothing happens. I pick it up and show him. “Well it looks like cold Iron doesn’t seem to bother you. That’s fantastic. Can you touch the one with an S on it?” “Isaac!” Jayce warns. “Only a small touch will do.” I poke the handle with my finger and nothing. I decided to pick it up and show him. Jayce takes a step back. “Remarkable! Both of your sides protect you from each metal. You are holding a pure silver spoon right now.” I drop it on the floor and look at my hand. That should have burned me. “What am I?” “I fully believe you are half fairy and half werewolf still. You should be glad that you are gaining the strengths of both sides. It might make it harder on you as a Luna. You will have to convince the pack that they can trust you even more so now. If they see your fairy side as a strength that could help get them on your side.” I sit down right on the floor. This is too much to take in. I need to know more about myself before I can convince an entire pack to follow me. “They will accept her because she is my mate end of story” Jayce says with power in his voice. “No, Jayce, I need to have their respect. I want to be a good Luna for you and this pack. I just wish I could talk to my parents and make sense of all this.” “You can.” Isaac tells me. “I can what?” “Talk with your parents. I know a necromancer who can help. He won’t bring them back, but he can communicate between worlds. He will usually trade his services for ingredients.” “That could be dangerous, Isaac!” Jayce says, looking worried. “Jayce it would be worth it to talk to them. You know I have more questions I have to ask about.” I plead with him. I can tell he is on the fence about it. “Please Jayce, I am only asking to talk with them, nothing more, I promise.” “That magic is dark, Gwen.” “Isaac, that necromancer is safe, right? They know what they are doing.” I ask him. “He is the best at what he does. I have used his services a fair share of times.” “Please Jayce!” I stand up and hold him. I'm pleading with my eyes. “Fine but if anything happens to you, Isaac will need a necromancer to communicate. Got that, Isaac!” . “Got it, Alpha. I will get the entire thing set up. I might need a few days.” I feel emotional knowing I could possibly speak with my parents again. I have so many unanswered questions. I have to worry about my future now, too. If I am, in fact, part fairy. How will I get the trust of this pack. How will I tell them. If I try to keep it a secret, it will only be worse. “Hey.” Jayce pulls me out of my thoughts. “Yeah?” “This isn’t a bad thing. Imagine all the things you can do to help the pack now that no one else can.” “Like what?” “We had plans on building an orchard from the ground up. With your abilities, we can accomplish that in days instead of many years. Our pack members will have fresh food, and we can further cut ties with outside resources. With your ability to touch silver, you can help build weapons with silver tips. Once trained up, you will be an excellent fighter, too.” He has some ideas that will be good. It’s still going to be hard to come out about it still. I hold him tight for a moment, letting my stress melt away. “Thank you, Jayce.” I give him a kiss and snuggle back into him. “Isaac can we barrow a few baskets?” Jayce asks him. “You are always welcome to what you need here, Alpha. I still owe you for saving me in that rogue fight.” “What do you want baskets for?” “So we can bring back some of those apples for pack members. They are the best I have ever tasted. Others should have some, too.” “Good idea, Jayce! Let’s go. I can get the low ones, and you can get the high ones.” I start feeling excited that I can share something with everyone. As we reach the tree, I get excited at the thought of making more. I hope I can do it. “I hope there are enough apples to fill these baskets.” I yank one off the tree and about lose my mind as I watch another one regrow in its spot. “Jayce look!” I show him, and he gets a smile on his face. He starts pulling them off, too, and watching as they regrow. We fill four baskets and walk them back to the house, letting everyone pick them out as we pass by. Lots of the workers doing construction appreciated the treat. It is becoming a hot day, and a juicy snack will help them through it. Rio spots us and takes an apple. “Why the apple?” “I grew it!” I say pleased with myself. She takes a bite and kind of hums sounding content. “Why is it so delicious? How did you grow it?” “Magic!” I say. “So, you two cleared that up I take it?” Jayce and her have a telepathic conversation. I am getting really good at telling when they do it. One more night, and I can finally be part of those conversations. “I have bad news for you.” She finally says out loud. “What do you mean bad news?” He asks her. “Bad news for both of you. Jayce, your parents heard you brought a young lady here, and they want you both to have brunch with them.” “I know this is mom’s idea tell her no.” “She said that she will extend their stay here much longer if they don’t see you with a suitable Luna. Unless you can find a way to banish them, you are stuck.” Jayce looks pi**ed. He starts pacing back and forth. He clenches his fists. “We will be there in an hour, but she better be on her best behavior. Tell her that for me would you.” Rio zones out for a moment. “She said it would be outside of their house.” “Jayce, it will be okay. I want to meet your parents.” “You really don’t Gwen. At least not my mom.” “Jayce my last set of parents attempted to r*** and kill me. There is nothing she can say or do to bring me down or take me away from you. Let me be there for you like you have for me.” I hug his arm and give him puppy dog eyes. “Gwen, just promise me that you won’t leave me because of her. You can leave me if I f*** up in any way, but please don’t let her get to you.” “Jayce, when I wake up tomorrow and find out you are my mate, there isn’t a chance I will leave you.” We start kissing, but it’s interrupted by Rios mocking noises. “You two are too cute!” she says. “Rio should I change my clothes? Can you help me?” “Yes, you should know first that Goldie might not be in your room, though.” I freeze, feeling panic in my heart. “Why not? What’s going on?” “I seen her flying around. Looks like you will have to take her along with you now. The pack will just have to adjust to it. Have you two decided to tell them about the fairy thing.” She whispers fairy. “We aren’t sure yet, but maybe after I shift would be a good time. I still am figuring out everything out myself. It doesn’t make sense, so Isaac is helping me figure out how I can be part of anything else when my parents were both wolves.” “Well you have less than an hour to get ready, so let’s just worry about that for now.” All three of us make it to my room. Goldie was in the window, and she told me how exciting it was to fly again. Jayce started to put her bird perch together while Rio worked on me. We decided to go with a form hugging green dress. It has open shoulders, so it felt kind of sexy despite being a simple fabric. I guess green works well with my hair and eyes. It also says I am strong without being too intimidating. I don’t know about any of that but I like it. I also like the matching tall heels that go with it. She simply touched up my makeup and let out my hair before we got going. His parents' house is a distance away so we have to drive there. By the time we left my room, Goldie had a new place to sleep, and I was feeling confident in my appearance. Before we go, Rio whispers in my ear. “Don’t let her push you around. Be strong for Jayce. He needs you.” I nod my head, and she lets me go. Jayce has done so much for me. I want to help him any way I can. Even if that means getting his parents off his back. The drive there, Jayce kept looking at me and touching my legs. I was trying so hard not to get turned on so his parents wouldn’t smell my hormones. When we finally do get out of the car, I ask Jayce for a hug and start rubbing all over him. “Baby, what’s going on?” “We aren’t market yet, but I want my scent on you. They need to know we are serious. “ “Good thinking!” He rubs his scent on me before we make it to the door. He rings the doorbell, and a guy opens the door. “Alpha, your parents are in the back with everyone else.” “Everyone else?” “Yes, please come in. They are waiting for you.” We walk in, and everything looks so exquisite. It might look like a simple two story brick house on the outside, but the inside looks so large and expensive. The floors are marble, and there are statues and large paintings. The furniture looks completely untouched and new. The guy walks ahead of us and opens the door for us. The backyard catches my attention first. Animal shaped hedges and large water fountains. Roses of many different colors on every side. It looks, sounds, and smells beautiful out here. When I hear Jayce let a low growl out, my mind comes back down to earth. “What are they doing here?” He says angrily. I look down at the table. It’s a wide rectangle table with a yellow table cloth across it. At one end, I see a man who is quite handsome. You can tell he has been through a lot because of his visible scars. Only weapons with silver can cause that. He could almost be Jayce’s twin they look so similar. His eyes are brown, though. At the other end of the table, there is a woman with an eerily spooky smile. Her hair is brown and short. Not a single strand is out of place. She looks quite different from Jayce except her eyes. She has the gold flecks that I love so much. She makes me feel nervous. Between them are two red-headed girls that look like twins or at least sisters. They are both rather beautiful with perfect eyebrows and ruby lips. They are both dressed up from their perfect hair to expensive looking dresses. Everything they are wearing matches each other. The only difference is that one looks sad while the other is overjoyed. “Don’t be rude, son. Introduce me to your friend.” He looks at her in a way like it’s a warning, but she keeps her smile looking unfazed. “This is my mate, Gwendolyn!” I don’t know where to look, so I give the entire table a glance back and forth before looking down. “Nice to meet you all.” His mother walks up and looks at me. I can look her in the eyes because they remind me of Jayce. That is the only comfort I have with her. “She smells like you, Jayce, but I still don’t see your mark on her.” She says like I am not even in front of her. “Tomorrow is her first shift. We are waiting.” His mom gets an even crazier smile now. “So there is still a chance..” “No! She is my mate and will be the Luna period! Got it?”
