Chapter 13

1938 Words
Valentina's pov "Okay Valentina, I need you to turn your shoulders sideways, smile, and look at the camera." I do exactly what I'm told and I see the flash of the camera and the sound of a click it comes from it. Yes, I'm doing my model shoot. I got called in last week and they're paying me two-thousand dollars for just taking pictures. They have me in a body-con dress to promote the sales of the dress and later on, my modeling agent is going to book me more gigs. I literally have my own agent! It's crazy to even think of. Words can't even express how grateful I am to have this type of opportunity. As for the mystery of my locker, Heaven is still trying to figure out who destroyed it. She hasn't given me any word, but I do have faith that she'll catch whoever demolished my locker. On the other hand, Gina has been accompanying me in my photo shoots, mostly because she dreads to miss out on anything that'll happen to me. Technically, she's not wrong though. I've been in fear for my life lately. "Valentina, your beauty is so mesmerizing that our sales will skyrocket!" One of the photographers, which I don't know his name, says with a smile. "I don't know about that. I mean.. look at the other models. They're far more prettier than me." I shrug with a serious tone. Gina from beside me give me a side eye, with a death stare. She hates it when I talk down on myself, but I can't help it. It's an instinct that I have. Oh- well I can't take that back. I already said it. "Come on Valentina, no one can compare to you. Your beauty doesn't compare to any other girl." He flirts, causing me to get the chills of uncomfortableness. This man is in his fifties flirting with a 17 year old. To jail it is! He tries touching my shoulder, but I move away to the side quickly before he could. I don't want his crusty hands on me. "Thank you." I laugh nervously. I look at Gina and she gestures with her hand to walk to where she's sitting at. I comply and walk over to meet with her. "f*****g creep." Gina rolls her eyes annoyed, putting her phone in her purse. "I'm starving." Gina says, rubbing her stomach dramatically. "Same." I sigh in desperation. I can eat anything right now, I'm just hungry. On cue, my stomach rumbles in hunger. I haven't had anything to eat today, I woke up and came here with nothing to eat. It's the weekend, so I wasn't in any sort of rush to get back to school. "Come on, let's see if they have anything in the lounge." Gina says in excitement. Of course she's excited, she loves food more than she loves anyone, and I can guarantee that she'll sacrifice herself for food. We walk past Ms.Moore's office, only to not see her sitting in her usual spot. I think nothing of it though, she probably had somewhere to be. Gina and I walk inside the lounge and immediately catch a whiff of the delicious food being served. The lounge in here is basically a cafeteria, which is great because it's more spacious and they have tons of food. There's a buffet, which causes me to stare at Gina again. She's looking at the cafeteria in awe and I can see a bit of drool from the corner of her mouth. I don't know if I should find that cute or disgusting? "See ya." Gina runs off, leaving me standing alone. She literally left me for food. I hear a laugh behind me and I turn on my heel, to reveal Ms.Moore laughing slightly. "Welcome Valentina! This is our cafeteria/lounge. Usually, we have more food, but today we gave our cooks a day off, so there's not much here." Ms.Moore greets with a toothy smile. How can she be so nice, but her daughter be so rude? Why can't Heaven be like nice her mother? "Feel free to grab whatever you want, don't be shy. Also, when you get your meal, come sit with me. I have some things I want to discuss with you," She says, her eyes squinting at Gina who's grabbing her third plate. One plate consisted of her meal, then the second plate has candies, and finally the third one has dessert. Dios mío, she might as well get the entire cafeteria while she's at it. "Invite your friend too." She finishes and sits down. I nod and grab myself a plate. I'm debating on what to eat, there's many options, yet I can't choose one. I end up choosing pizza, since that's the only thing I really want. I grab my plate, and walk over to Gina. She's still picking at the dessert, and I slightly chuckle from the sight. "Gina, ven conmigo." I say, motioning with my hand to follow me. She understands and follows me like a lost puppy with her three plates in her hands. I roll my eyes dramatically, and find Mrs.Moore smiling at Gina and I. I sit in front of Mrs.Moore, with Gina next to me savoring her food. Seriously, it's like she's married to it. "So what do you want to discuss?" I ask curiously, grabbing the pizza from the plate and taking a bite. I will die if she fires me, although, as I'm looking at her facial expressions— it doesn't look like she will. I hope not. I really like it here. "Just wanted to discuss your work environment. Are you enjoying it? Is anyone giving you a hard time?" She questions, taking a sip of her drink. It's nice of her to ask me if things are okay here. Typically, that doesn't happen a lot. "It's good. I just want to thank you for allowing me to be here, and work for such a beautiful workplace." I mutter with a monotone voice. The anxiousness I'm feeling within my body right now is super hectic. I'm trying to pass over this feeling, but it seems like it won't go away, unless I do something about it. “Don’t thank me. You deserve to be here. You’ve worked really hard to get to where you are right now, and I’m super proud of the way you’ve managed to accomplish this. You and your mom are very hardworkers.” She admires. I smile and utter a, “thank you”, before hearing the door of the cafeteria open. I avert my eyes to the door to see Heaven walk in. Oh my god, is she everywhere??? She sees me and makes eye contact with me for a brief second, then loves them around to look at her surroundings. Immediately the feeling of anxiousness goes away. I furrow my eyebrows I confusion. How did it just manage to go away when my arch nemesis enters the room? —- Heaven’s pov When I enter the lounge to my birth givers job, I thought my mother would be the first one I would see, but instead, I see Valentina and Gina there. Valentina wearing a pink body-con dress that fits her curves perfectly. Her hair is straighten with a middle part, and little white butterflies clips on some strands of her hair. What are they both even doing here? I walk towards there direction and stop in front of my mother who smiles and waves at me lovingly. “Hi honey. What are you doing here?” I gaze my eyes back and forth from my mother and Valentina to figure out what’s going on. “I came to check on you.” I say simply. I mean… it is true. I did come here to check up on her and make sure everything is okay. “Oh how sweet of you, but I’m good. I’m actually talking to Valentina about how she likes her new place of work.” She says. I completely forgot that she’s a “model” now. How fantastic! I envy that all she had to do was bring herself to my house and show off her gorgeousness to my mother and her employees. Why can’t I get a deal like this too? Am I not that good enough? Okay now I’ll just speaking lies. Of course I’m good enough. I’m everything that she’s not. “How nice.” I say rolling my eyes. Valentina catches this and furrows her eyebrows. My god she’s so cute when she does that. Wait what? Did I just call her cute? No. There’s no way. Why did I say that?! I stare at Valentina who’s staring at me in confusion. The sun is hitting her face, so you can see her hazel eyes brighten. “Um well, I think I’m going to go. I don’t have anymore photoshoots either way, but thank you for what you said, it means a lot.” Valentina smiles, showing her pearly white teeth. My mother nods and before I could walk away and leave as well, my mother grabs my wrist pulling me back to her. “Before you leave, walk Valentina and Gina to their car. You never know what can happen.” My mother says, getting up to throw her plate away. I groan in frustration. I don want to walk them, they annoy me every time. My mother hears my groan and smacks the back of my head playfully. “Do it.” She says sternly. Now I have to comply with what she’s telling me to do, if I don’t she’ll get mad at me and she’s scary when she’s mad. “Why though? Why can’t you get one of your security men to do it?” I query. “They don’t do there job right. Now I’m telling you to do this one thing. Please. I’ve already had many girls around their age get harassed while they’re at the parking lot by some perverts.” She sighs. “Fine.” I say simply and walk away. It’s not that I didn’t want to, I just don’t feel like it. As I’m walking out of the lounge and heading towards the elevator to catch up to Valentina and Gina, I pass by a group of people who are chattering loudly and joyous. I ignore them and jog outside of the building, to reveal Gina and Valentina walking out. I fast walk to Valentina and tap her shoulder to give a signal. “Heaven?” She says surprisingly as she stops on her tracks. “I’ll walk you to your car, there’s a lot of creeps out here.” Valentina nods, Gina from beside her giving me the side eye. I laugh covering my mouth because of how funny she looks. I walk with Valentina and Gina in pure silence. We walk and walk till it feels like eternity, and finally we made it to her car that’s covered in…Oh my god, is that blood? “Oh my god.” Gina sats in disbelief, covering her hand over her mouth. Valentina stands in a pure shock and doesn’t say anything. I walk over around the car to get a batter look and on the mirror it says, “I’m watching you,” wow so childish. “Am I in danger?” Valentina asks in a scared tone. I shake my head trying to reassure her. “I’ll catch whoever did this.” I ball my hands into a fist. Who the f**k does this?
