Heaven’s pov
Today is Friday, which is the first game of the football season. Although I don't care about football, I do care about how the routine will turn out. In spite of my boyfriend being on the team, I don't care really about all of that. I only care about making myself and the girls look good.
Currently, it's after school as we prepare our routine, and of course, I couldn't keep my eyes off Valentina. I didn't mean to almost kiss her at my house. It was more of a...instinct kind of thing.
I missed my boyfriend and I was pretty high, so that's why I almost kissed her. I could never like girls, it's just not my thing. I'm not homophobic either, but in this world liking the same s*x is...you're basically disowned by everyone else. I know I shouldn't care about what other people think, yet I do and I always will.
Also, being captain of the cheer team I have to be perfect. If not, then I'm just a failure and what's the point of that?
"Girls, this is your first ever performance and you guys are screwing things up. Stop getting distracted and do the routine right." Coach Sanders says in a pissed tone.
I stand here next to Valentina who looks at Coach Sanders trying to have the courage to say something. She averts her eyes to Gina. She looks exhausted and her sweaty forehead dripping on the floor. Finally, Valentina speaks up crossing her arms in seriousness.
"Listen Coach, what you're doing to the girls isn't fair and you know it. You're letting them do the routine multiple times, when you see that they're tired from doing it 10 times already...."
"Also, you're letting Heaven and I stand here like we aren't part of the team watching the girls work their ass off with this routine. Please, I ask of you to be fair and balance with this situation. The girls are doing fine, I get it you're in pure stress, however by doing this, it's making the situation worse. Do you not see the girls struggling right now?" Valentina says, looking at Coach Sanders.
I look Coach Sanders and she look straight at Valentina and bites the inside of her cheek. All she does is nod though, no words come out.
What the f**k? She just nods after Valentina says all that?
"Okay. I'm sorry for being a horrible coach right now. Heaven and Valentina please join in on the routine, then you guys can take a 20 minute break. I want all of you here by those 20 minutes." Coach Sanders says, walking away on her heel to her office.
"We'll do the routine later, just take a break." Valentina speaks, and the girls cheer a, "yes".
How dare she gives them orders when that's my job! I'm the one to enforce orders, instead she's trying to take my place.
"Why did you do that? I want them to do the routine with us, they're slacking off." I say slightly angry.
"They're already tired, just let them take a break. Stop being annoying." She rolls her eyes, clearly annoyed by my words. I don't care though, I continue talking.
"We're slacking off, if we want to be good then we have to continue practicing. You're going to make us blow it."
Valentina scoffs before saying, "Then you do the routine 10 times like they did, and see if you're tired like them. You know it isn't fair, yet you're being an asshole about it."
I clench my fists in anger. I typically don't get angry easily, still for some reason it's been getting worse around her, or perhaps— around people in general.
"Shut up." I say in a serious tone, causing her to roll her eyes and refrain her eyes away from me.
What a f*****g brat.
I instigate against not saying anything..and I don't. For some reason, my mouth is shut and I don't have a reason to say anything.
"Whatever, f**k off." Valentina says, and my anger just builds up.
I couldn't say anything because the girls came back with a bit of energy. It's good that they aren't dead yet, we need them to be energetic.

Valentina's pov
"Welcome back girls, Heaven and I will start the routine with you. Just this one time and we'll be done." I say, as Coach Sanders walks towards our direction with her whistle wrapped around her neck.
Heaven from beside me scoffs, before standing up from sitting down in the wooden chair.
Coach Sanders nods towards us to get into the position of the routine.
Since Heaven and I are going to be at the top, the girls have to have the strength to lift us. To say I'm scared to fall is the truth, because I really do fear for my life to fall.
If I die... I die.
After we tumble, the girls hold their hands out and I take a deep breath before jumping into their hands as they're holding the bottom of my shoes.
Thank god we have enough girls for this.
I signal Heaven with my eyes that I'm going to do a backflip so she can do it with me, but once I look up at her, she already does it leaving me a few seconds behind her.
Miss girl didn't even wait for me!
I landed on my feet and Coach Sanders claps because that was the hardest part of the routine. The balance, strength, and durability to have to be able to do that routine so perfectly.
"That was amazing. Go change into your uniforms, we need to be ready by 5:30." Coach Sanders says and sits on the wooden chair that Heaven was sitting on.
"You did good Valentina." Violet compliments. I look beside me and see Gina nod, obviously agreeing with her.
"Thank you." I smile, kneeling down to fix the laces on my shoes.
"You're welcome. You're so good, I don't know how-"
"Coach Sanders told us to change, so stop talking and walk over there." Heaven interrupts, with a stern voice.
Here we go again. What's wrong with her?!? She's so rude for no reason.
"Sorry." Violet says apologetically, and walks away with embarrassment.
"Can you not be a d**k for once?" Gina retorts with a huff.
"I can't be something that I don't have." Heaven says, walking away on her heel. Gina and I share a look and follow behind her, our arms wrapped together.
"That's not what she meant. Seriously you're so rude for no reason." I say with a slight bit of confidence. I know that by saying this, it's going to make her mad, but I still say it to push her buttons.
Heaven stops walking once we get to the door of the locker rooms, turning her full body towards me.
"You think I care? No. In fact, I can ruin her if I want to, but guess what? I'm too nice to even do that. I have the power to do whatever I want and no one can stop me." Heaven rants, her face centimeters from mine.
"Get your crusty face, out of my face." I say, and Gina snorts from laughter. Heaven rolls her eyes and walks inside the locker room.
I look over to Gina and still see her laughing silently. I nudge her shoulder and giggle, I swear we're so dumb sometimes.
I quickly grabbed my cheer uniform from my locker and place it on the bench behind me. I slowly take off my shirt and as soon as I do, I feel a glare on me. I look around to see who it is, and finally I see the blonde girl that I was interacting with literally seconds ago.
"Que estás mirando?" I smirk, knowing she can't understand me because it's a language I know she doesn't understand.
She furrows her eyebrows in confusion and diverts her eyes away from me. I immediately put on my shirt and take off my leggings to put on my skirt. I look at the time: 5:15.
Shit we only have 15 minutes till we need to be in the field.
I grab a hair tie from my locker, and put my hair half up and half down. Usually the girls wear ponytails or buns, but we don't have a specific way of wearing our hair, so I decided to wear my hair half up and half down. However, I do hope that my hair doesn't get ruined towards the end.
"Are you ready?" Gina asks with a sigh of tiredness. I nod and get up on the bench to get the attention of the girls.
"Girls, don't be nervous or anxious about going out there and trying to get this routine right. We're not perfect, and although Coach Sanders wants us to be perfect, we can't..because no one is. The important thing is that we go out there and try our absolute best," I smile, while putting my hand in the middle for the other girls to do it.
"Come on, we have to do this for good luck. I hear you guys do this in America." I giggle, looking around to see Heaven with an annoyed face. Violet and Gina step forward and grasp their hand onto mine.
The rest of the girls eventually join in, even Heaven leaving me a bit in shock seeing that she actually joined in.
"Um what is the mascot in this school?"
"Wildcats." Heaven replies in a dull tone.
"Okay. On 3."

"Wildcats!" We chant in unison, and lift our hands in the air.
~~~~Skip to the game
The girls and I stretch for a bit, then we grab our Pom Poms from the chair next to one of the bleachers.
We have nothing else to do, since the game doesn't start for another 10 minutes.
I felt someone's finger tapping my back and I almost smacked them from fearness.
I turn around and see... Dios mío... my brother Uriel! His brown curly hair and hazel eyes, shining with the light of the sun.
I thought he wasn't coming till next week?!
"Uriel!" I scream with excitement, engulfing him into a hug. I put my legs around his torso with caution, knowing he got shot around his stomach area.
"Que estás haciendo aquí?" I smile widely, as I let go of the hug. I see my mom behind him on the bleachers.
Aw, did she come here to support me? Of course she is dumbass, why else would she be here?
"Ya sabes, vine a ver mi favorita hermana." He retorts, rhetorically knowing I'm his only sister.
As I'm about to speak, on queue, Heaven comes this way— staring down my brother intensely.
"Valentina, we need to go. The game starts in 5 minutes. You don't want to f**k this up just to talk to your little boyfriend." Heaven says, clearly annoyed. My brother and I look at her and stifle a laugh, causing Heaven to take a deep breath in.
"He's my brother dumbass," Heaven looks dumbfounded as I say that, and stays quiet. Of course she has nothing to say now.
"Anyways, Uriel te veo después de el juego." I nod for him to go away. He gets the memo and leaves.
