Kaya POV
Our principal summoned me to the office. As a result, I was sitting in her office, gazing at the school awards, waiting for her. Our principle, Mrs. Stewart, entered with a girl once the door was opened. I didn't recognise her because she is a new student at the school. “Come sit on the Chair,” Mrs. Stewart replied with a smile. She sat in her chair, and a girl stood beside Mrs. Stewart's chair with a scowl on her face.
“Mam, why did you call me?” I asked as I took the seat in front of her. “I am proud of you for scoring first in Science Subjects,” she remarked with a smile. I was pleased with myself, and my chest swelled with joy. She then frowned as she turned her back to her. “Ave is my niece, and she will be in your class starting today. Could you please assist her in her studies and become her friend, as I wished for her to be like you?” she asked, smiling but serious. “Thank you for the support, and sure, I will assist her,” I said, a tiny smile on my face. We walked out of her office when she nodded. I returned to my lesson, and Ave trailed behind me. While writing my notes, Ashi raised her eyebrows and looked at her. “She is Ave, Mrs. Stewart's niece, and she asked me to help her,” I replied.
Ave then softly stated, "Hey, Kaya, thank you for agreeing to help me there. Is it possible for me to sit with you?"
She sat in the seat next to mine after I nodded. Ave and Ashi get along well and enjoy each other's company. “Could you assist me with a physics question?” Ave inquired.
“You will understand it better by this,” I replied, smiling at my notebook, “and I will give you all of my notes that will help you in key subjects.” To express her gratitude, she clapped her hand and wrapped her arms around me. I smiled as I clenched her back. I admired her mannerisms because they are diametrically opposed to mine. She may appear mischievous and bold on the outside, yet she is a child at heart. We waited in our van waiting for school to end. “Sorry, but I couldn't take you tuition,” Uncle Jone said, his nose runny and his eyes red. "I have a high fever. So you go to your parents and ask them what they think you should do?"
I was perplexed and afraid of what I should do, so I sighed and requested him to drop me off at home. He nodded in agreement with my response, and Ashi added, "Me too." Then I asked Ashi to check her phone for my Zaan messages. As a result, I opened FaceTime and saw his messages. I'm alright, Kaya; I'll try to get online later this evening. I wanted to speak with you as well. Please let me know if you have any issues.
I was overjoyed that he wanted to talk to me as well, so I invited him to join me online the next day.
I went back to Ashi's phone and thanked her. We arrive at our own home after a few minutes, as I have never missed a tutoring class before, but today would be the first time. I changed into my light cream hijab and plain purple Kurtis and pyjamas. I walked into the kitchen to eat something, even though I only eat twice a day, but my stomach grumbled today.
My mother sat on a bar stool near the kitchen counter, and I swallowed the fear that she would chastise me for arriving home early. Instead, Mom didn't want my face to be visible, so I spent much of my time studying. “Why are you going back home so soon?” she asked, a sour tone laced on her tongue. “Uncle Jones was not feeling well, so he couldn't take us tuition,” I whispered as I hung my head low.
“You spoil brat, we are spending our money on you, and you are not taking your studies seriously,” she snarled angrily at me as she rose up and slammed her heels on the ground. “Do something for us,” she said, “so that any rich boy can marry a trash like you.” Tears welled up in my eyes, and my heart ached with anguish. On the other hand, she addressed Kosho, saying, "Kosho son, please come here."
After a few moments, he returned, yawning, and said, "Why are you calling me, can't you see mum I'm so tired?" Then he began to use his phone. “This junk is at home,” my mother murmured, her lips wrinkled in disappointment.
“Why have you not gone to tuition, you ungrateful brat, the exams are coming up, and dad had told everyone that you would be topper in the school, you are the only way to bring our name to the forefront in politics, and dad would get more votes from the people as a girl in our society, no one gets permission to study, but you are lucky enough that you are getting education,” Kosho said with disgust.
“Go back to tuition but first clean the floor,” my mother remarked grumpily. “Mom, I'm hungry,” I murmured after that. Look at yourself fat-assess, a quit eating and try to save our few dollars,” she mocked. She rose up and shoved me by the shoulders, causing me to stumble.
I fall to the ground with a thud as a result of my steps. She laughs wickedly and throws me to the ground.
With a shrug of his shoulders, Kosho remarked, "I'll drop you off for your tuition lessons when you finish your mom work and all house chores.” I tried to stand on my feet again while sobbing and nodding my head with a hurting heart. But my leg slid again, and I fell, winced in pain. My stomach grumbled with hunger, but I got up and downed two glasses of water to quench my thirst. The words my mother said to me were not the first time, but they made me cry because of my anguish. I desire my parents' love and affection, but I will never receive it from them. I cleaned the kitchen's floors.
And the utensils were cleaned in each room. Even if I do the housework at night, if the maid cleaned during the day, the utensils would be remains for washed and dinner to be prepared. After finishing the chores, I requested that Mrs. Mary, the head maid, request that Kosho drop me off. In the living room, I was waiting for him. He returned after 15 minutes, talking on his phone and walking passed. I followed him, my gaze fixed on the ground. He drove away in his new automobile, which his father had given him for his recent birthday. I was about to sit in the back seat when he opened the car door and said furiously, "Am I your driver?" I shook my head and trembled at his voice. Then he said, "Sit here," pointing to the front seat of the automobile in a dry tone. I took the seat and sat there for the whole of the journey. We didn't speak to each other while I gazed out the window. When we arrived at my tuition class, I hurriedly exited the car and went inside.
“When you arrived back at home to clean my car tonight,” Kosho murmured from behind, standing beside me. "All right," I said. “Don't you dare to make contact with any boy,” he urged sternly. I shook my head and nodded. I was startled to hear a familiar voice calling my name. When I glanced back, I noticed Ave and Xavier standing side by side. Ave was holding his right arm at the time. They had known each other previously. Then, in an obnoxious tone, Kosho inquired of Xavier, as though they were at odds. I didn't want any drama, so I silently wished for Kosho to leave. Xavier's eyes flashed with rage, but he still had feelings for me. I should not have come today, because I might have avoided this. Ave inquired about Kosho since she like his demeanour. He is so attractive that all the rich females fall for him, and he changes girls as frequently as he changes his clothes.
I dislike these types of boys, but what can I do if my parents are unconcerned about his behaviour?
They promote partying and bad male behaviour. He'd thrashed me with his belt once I'd tried. That recollection gives me goosebumps and sends shivers down my spine. As Kosho walked out the door, I dashed into the tuition class and took my place. I'm hoping Ashi arrived, and I was able to witness Zaan's response. Later in the lesson, Ave and Xavier entered, and everyone stared at them as if they were aliens or something. "They know each other before?" Ashi inquired quietly. "I don't know," I shrugged, "but the way they're together, it seems like they've known each other before." Ashi hummed, a melancholy expression on her face. By her look, I wrinkled my eyes and shrugged my shoulders. "Could you kindly assist in these questions," Xavier remarked as he approached my table. I was about to deny him when he repeated again, "Tomorrow is my school test, please help me."
Then Ave joined him on the sidelines.
"Do you know each other?" she said, her eyes narrowed as she looked at both of us.
"Very well, everyone recognised Kaya because of her knowledge, innocence, and beauty," Xavier said, his gaze wandering over my face. I was taken aback by his compliments, which he made in front of everyone.
"Yes, it's true," Ave said, "my aunt has also requested that I stay with her." She then took Xavier's hand in hers and stated, "You, on the other hand, are not inferior to her."
Looking at my book, I rolled my eyes at her comment and answered, "Okay, I'll help you when the chemistry class is complete." "You will also be there," I added as I turned my head to Ashi. "Um... Okay, I'll be there," she says, astonished and biting her nails.
"I shall be there as well, as I have my doubts," Ave said, staring at me. I was amused that she thought I was interested in Xavier since her eyes flickered with a hint of envy.
