Live 7: Pessimistic but Successful

1094 Words
“Honey, it’s time for you to wake up” Jury hears a soft knock on her bedroom, his father knocks at her door before he goes to work.  The young girl yawns as she looks at the clock on her cell phone screen, she picks her cell phone from the nightstand and notices that it’s almost afternoon. She nods weakly and answers her father with a drowsy tone, Jury stretches her arm upwards as she gets up from the bed slowly. She yawns widely, her mind wanders to her laptop since she remembers she had a client request to draw a logo. As a freelance graphic designer, she did it to gain more salary to survive the month. Her main job is still a Vtuber, only her close friends, and family know of her identity as Rhapsody the gamer maid. It would be bad if her identity is revealed to the public since she knew the risk of being stalked is big. Rhapsody exits her plain-looking bedroom, she goes to the dining room and notices the egg and bacon his father made for her. Still, in her babydoll pajamas, she sits on the leather chair and eats her breakfast as quickly as possible. After a quick breakfast, she takes a quick thirty minutes shower, the young woman wipes her body with the plain white towel in a hurry. She wears a home dress, a frilly blue dress decorated with ribbons. Not forgetting to brush her teeth after her quick shower, she shifts into her work mode instantaneously.  Her father already set off to his new workplace, saying goodbye to his daughter who is already in her work mode. Unbiased and focused on the screen of her laptop, she just nods at her father leaving the doorstep of the apartment. Fortunately, her father’s classmate already prepared a spare key for Jury to use. She’s already in her bedroom with a towel hovering over her shoulder, she traces her study desk blindly trying to find her red-rimmed glasses. As soon as she gets it, she wears it to make the headache disappears. Her astigmatism makes it hard for her not to get headaches, especially since her work is related to her watching the laptop screen all the time. Pressing on the keyboard as if her life is on the line, she converses with her client through emails to oblige to her client’s wishes. The client requests a logo for a cafe in a rural city called Jogja, one can be certain that her client is planning to open a business in Jogja since new facilities and entertainment are being opened at Jogja. Jury flicks her lips in deep thoughts, her red gaming mouse shines as she clicks the browser to do some research for Jogja scenery along with the atmosphere for her logo inspiration. The young woman idles for a bit after fifteen minutes searching for new ideas, her mind then traces back to the client’s cafe. She leans on the office chair for a while, thinking of the color scheme and icons that her clients want to implement. It was a very specific order that the client wants the color brown as their theme since they want to show off their branded coffee mix. Jury’s smile forms into a frown as she remembers the excitement in her client’s message about coffee. It was hard for her to pretend that she’s interested in the topic, even though she’s not slightly interested in the brown liquid drink that everyone loves, coffee. The abysmal drink that causes a nasty stomachache every time she consumes anything related to coffee.  She once ate ice cream with a coffee-flavored sauce, the next half hour she was stuck in the bathroom due to the uncomfortable sensation in her stomach along with diarrhea. Since then, coffee leaves a bad taste in her mouth. Since the client wants a logo that focuses on their distinguished coffee, then she needs to research coffee in general. “It would be nice if I can ask my coffee lover friends about this” she talks to herself while rubbing her chin. “I should go out and invite someone to have a drink with me”. However, she then remembers that she’s no longer in her hometown. Jury is friendless in the new city she just lived in, with no friends to hang out with. In a positive light, it could help her suppress her spending on things. She tries to think positively of her condition, but in the end, the young woman is lonely. No matter how cold and focused she is, the young woman needs a friend to talk with. She sighs heavily as she rubs her forehead in frustration. She decides to open her cell phone, checking her social game app called Holorealm. Jury has been socially frustrated, she moves from one city to another, such as the nomad life of her father, Julius Crawford.  Julius is a respectable architecture, known by all, and last but not least is that he’s a humble person despite his achievement in the past. Well-liked and famous among his classmates, Julius is a needle in the haystack that everyone sought, a role model for all of his peers. Her mind wanders to her father’s achievement, then to the laptop screen in front of her. Jury blankly gazes on the ceiling, exhaling while thinking of the jobs she currently had. “What have I achieved in this world? Nothing” she stumbles upon another negative talk inside her head, feeling somewhat left behind by her mother and father’s contribution to the world.  Her mother often scolds her job as a Vtuber since she didn’t go out that much, she fears that her daughter will lock herself in her room and immerse herself in her games and comfort zone.  “Go out and have some fun! You’re still young, dear!” Jury had a flashback of her mother’s words inside her head, she clicks her tongue in annoyance whenever she remembers the fury look of her mother when she found out that Jury is isolating herself with her laptop. “You won’t have any boyfriend if you’re this closed off!”. Jury shakes her head, trying to disperse the hurtful comments of her mother, it hurts her but at least she gains money by doing the thing she loves which is Livestreaming as someone else persona. “I don’t need anyone in my life, that’s my final decision” she grumbles as she opens the Holorealm app.
