Live 6: The Daily Life of a Fanboy

Kevin’s night starts with a bang on the door. He was almost sound asleep but the bang annoyed him. He opens the door of his bedroom only to reveal his niece sneaking out of her bedroom. The pigtail girl grins childishly at the sight of Kevin’s drowsy face. She rushes to the young man’s bedroom.

She hugs him out of nowhere, the brother he relies on when his mother and father are asleep. The little girl is scared because of a nightmare she had. She wanted to snuggle into her brother’s arms for warmth. Kevin sighs heavily as he looks at the little girl before him. She’s still seven years old and needs someone to encourage her and secure her uneasiness.

The young man walks to his bed, his blurry eyesight doesn’t help with the fact that his bedroom is dark. He can barely see anything, but he gestures his younger cousin to sleep next to him. She walks timidly to his side, snuggling her older brother's figure. Kevin smiles warmly at the niece his aunt cuddles tremendously.

“Sheila, did you have a nightmare?” Kevin asked the young girl. “Well, sleep next to me then”.

“I am sleeping here” she giggles. “After all, I want to marry you in the future!”.

Kevin raised his eyebrows, knowing how his niece had yet to grow to understand the statement she had just spoken of. She’s still ten years old at best. She doesn’t know anything about marriage and elderly things. The young girl is still dreaming. Kevin is sleeping soundly, still drowsy.

He checks the alarm clock on the side of his bed, the needle still shows one o’clock at dawn. The young man returns to his slumber while being accompanied by his niece. She cuddles on Kevin’s back for warmth, while the young man dozes off and falls asleep rather quickly. He’s going to need an alarm clock to wake up early.

Kevin starts his morning with a stretch and a light jog. He quietly woke up from bed; carefully so that he wouldn’t alert his sleeping niece. The handsome-looking man is now wearing his white sneakers along with his cobalt parachute jacket, he wears his hoodie then does some stretching at the entrance of the house.

He exits the house, turning on his old walkman to listen to his favorite Vtuber music. It is Rhapsody’s music cover of his favorite anime opening. Kevin smiles slightly when he listens to Rhapsody’s unique voice. Her voice isn’t exactly soothing and gentle, but rather bass. The Vtuber maid’s voice is unique and enchanting, drawing everyone in with his energetic tone.

She’s clumsy and determined, making her fans support her all the way, including Kevin Darius. He has thrown his money into the super chats, a hundred dollars for Rhapsody to be recognized on her first debut. Rhapsody reminds him of his old ‘oshi’, the Vtuber he once was crazed about. They almost had the exact personality.

However, his old Idol is somewhat less active due to her problems in real life. Thus, he averts his gaze to watch Rhapsody’s new debut.

“I love you so much, I can’t leave without you” Kevin hums while he jogs through the neighborhood.

As expected for Bandung, traffic is quite high even in the morning. It is a bustling city, filled with life and activities. Kevin walks by and sees a stray cat on the streets that reminds him of Nut. After what happened yesterday, he had to send Nut to the streets again, since his uncle dislikes animals in general.

The stray caramel’s fur reminds him of Nut, he smiles at the stray cat while he jogs through the lousy street. Smoke and vehicles surround him, his jog experience isn’t exactly pleasant because of the mild pollution and filthy environment. As expected of a metropolitan city, it’s hard to maintain the city’s cleanliness, especially in a crowded city like Bandung.

However, the food and temperature are top-notch even for travelers. Perhaps it’s due to the fact that Bandung is a city surrounded by mountains. It was also stated that Bandung was actually used to be a lake, but transformed into a city instead. Kevin is also shocked by the new home he stays in, since his house is located far from Bandung.

He traveled from his village to Bandung to attend a prestigious university near his uncle’s house. However, his attendance had to be delayed due to the Corona Virus spreading. It is unfortunate since Kevin is quite excited about attending his new college, he had to bear his stress by light jogging in the morning.

Enjoying the cold temperature in the morning is quite nice. He jogs every day to maintain his weight since he’s particularly sporty. One look and people would have thought Kevin was nothing but a nerdy anime lover, but he has been vigorous and youthful since he was young. He was taught to practice and work out every day to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

After jogging for a while, his eyes glazed through the shop next to him. He sees the bright red jacket behind the glass of the clothes store. His bronze eyes gaze above, only to see that the store sells clothes specifically for soccer teams. Kevin latches both of his palms on the glass, he swallows his saliva when he sees a shiny red parachute jacket with the logo of Manchester United.

The famous team, Manchester United, the Red Devil, has always been his favorite team since he was a child. His father is a supporter of the Red Devil, hence the glass boy followed in his footsteps since he is his son. Kevin’s wanting eyes attracts the store clerk inside the clothes store. A man with a ponytail looks at the young man in pity.

“Ah, sorry,” Kevin noticed the confusing gaze of the store clerk.

Kevin escapes the store clerk’s invitation politely afterward, telling him that he should continue with his morning jog. After thirty minutes had passed by, he looked at the sports watch on his wrist to check the time. The digital watch shows the time, seven in the morning on the dot; he should get ready for an online class soon.

“Right, I should go home” he sighs heavily. “Rhapsody-chan is going to have her Livestream in the evening, so I should be ready!”.
