Until thirty days are over

A dark chuckle escaped Jane's lips as he brought his proposal to her. His kids? “I would take that as a joke,” she said in between disbelief and fear. How was her company related to his children in any way? “It's either that or nothing. Secondly, I don't take no for an answer,” he said, tucking his hands inside his pocket as he stared down at her. Jane looked around her as though searching for something to anchor herself to. Perhaps a pinch would do. “In that document is everything you need to do while you're in my house—” “Your house?” Jane almost yelled in surprise. “Why should I be in your residence? Don't tell me you're serious,” she whispered, realization filling her eyes. “Do you see me smiling? On the other hand, it's your retribution, isn't it? Why not take care of the ones you almost tarnished their reputation at a young age?” His question made Jane’s heart plummet from her chest. She had been so impulsive and wanted to promote herself, only to land in trouble after spilling her trip to the Grove to her assistant. Perhaps what Sebastian said was true. Maybe it was what she sowed that she was definitely reaping. “Is there another option? I can't be the mother or caretaker of kids,” she blurted. Jane had always despised having kids. She was the type that grew up around those who saw her as a punch bag and her dislike for children had increased. His slender fingers touched her face, tilting her head to meet his eyes. Eyes so intense that she wished the ground would open up and swallow her. What will people say? That she had taken in kids that she had also called illegitimate? “I will do something else, please. There should be another option. I would do anything—,” Sebastian suddenly turned as he ambled towards his car, Louis leading the way with a stoic expression. He was quite upset with his boss for choosing such a woman who exposed his secret to the world. Jane paled as both men entered a black Sedan. “Wa–it–” she whispered in dread. There was no way she would see him again if he left now, she thought. The headlights of the car instantly lit up the dark parking lot, ready to move, when Jane suddenly appeared at the front of the car, standing there with her arms spread apart. Tears were streaking down her face. When she used Sebastian's coat to wipe her face, Louis felt disgusted. “I WILL DO IT!! I WILL DO IT!” She yelled and fell on her knees, sobbing loudly. Her stupidity had led her straight to her downfall and this was the price she was going to pay for it. If only her pompous self had known. A smile tugged at Sebastian's lips as he pulled open the door and stepped out. His polished shoes came into view as he went on his heels to meet Jane's eye level. “Don't be scared, they won't bite and certainly, I don't bite either,” he grinned. From the kiss earlier, Sebastian felt it. She didn't even do anything to him, yet he was already craving to own her in every way. Placing his hand on her messed-up bun, he undid it as long brown hair cascaded down her back. Sebastian took a deep breath as something inside him snapped. “When we get home, carefully check the clauses. I'll see to it that your company is maintained before the thirty days are over. Well, that depends on your service,” he smirked and pulled her up. “Get in the car.” Jane just marched on like a robot and took her seat inside the car, feeling more number than ever. Was her life ever going to remain the same? And the man beside her wasn't just any man. He was Sebastian Ashcroft, a man who could hire the best nannies to care for his kids. Why did he choose her? Why did he kiss her even when they didn't know each other? There were so many unanswered questions that needed answers. Silence engulfed the car as Louis drove. Although he was slightly annoyed about the woman's presence, her beauty was breathtaking. Opening the compartment by the door, Sebastian fetched a wipe and pulled out two wet ones. “Look at me,” he said to Jane, who had been staring out of the window since one hour ago. “Do you want to mock me? Laugh at my misery? Perhaps I would soon become a headline. “Jane Doe, now caretaker of Sebastian Ashcroft’s illegitimate children,” she spat coldly without looking at him. She was embarrassed. In one day, she went from being a CEO to a beggar. Sebastian sighed and turned her head himself. Before she could throw tantrums, he began wiping her face, carefully, tenderly, leaving Jane speechless again. “What are you doing?” She questioned, trying to look away, but his hold on her chin tightened, stormy gray ones staring into hers. “Cleaning what's mine,” he murmured, his breath fanning her face. Jane slapped his hand off her as he glared at him. “I'm not yours in any way!” “You're mine,” Sebastian replied, “until the thirty days are over.”
