The Gate Way

In Africa(Nigeria), KIM SEO- JOON and CATHERINA DIANA sit at a quiet, candlelit table. Soft music plays in the background. Jake is nervous but trying to hide it. Anna is glowing, happy and completely unaware of what’s about to happen. SEO-JOON (Taking a deep breath) Diana, you know I love you more than anything. Every day with you is the best day of my life. You make me a better man. DIANA Seo- joon, you’re so sweet. You know I feel the same way. SEO-JOON (He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small box) You’re my best friend, my soulmate, and my whole world. I don't want to spend another day on this earth without you as my wife. He gets on one knee and opens the box to reveal a beautiful ring. SEO-JOON Diana, will you marry me? Diana’s eyes fill with tears. She covers her mouth with her hands, a mix of shock and pure joy on her face. DIANA (Nodding, a shaky whisper) Yes! A thousand times, yes! Seo-joon slides the ring onto her finger, stands up, and they share a passionate, joyful kiss. The other diners applaud. The Reveal SEO-JOON (Still on one knee, holding her hand) I can’t believe you said yes. I’m the luckiest man in the world. Diana sits back down, still smiling, but a new, meaningful look comes over her face. She takes Seo-joon's hand in hers. DIANA Seo-joon, I have a surprise for you too. Something that’s going to make you even happier. SEO-JOON (A little confused but excited) You do? What is it? DIANA (Her voice soft and full of emotion) We're not going to be a family of two anymore. Seo-joon looks at her, his brow furrowed in confusion, then realization dawns on his face. SEO-JOON (His voice cracks with emotion) Diana … are you serious? Diana takes a small, printed photo from her purse and hands it to him. It’s an ultrasound photo. DIANA (Nodding, a single tear of happiness rolling down her cheek) I'm pregnant, Seo-joon. We’re going to be parents. Seo-joon stares at the photo, his eyes welling up with tears. He looks up at Diana, a beautiful mix of shock, awe, and overwhelming joy. He pulls her into a tight hug, holding her close as if to confirm it's real. SEO-JOON (His voice muffled and emotional) You and me, and a little one. I love you both so much.
