CHAPTER 6

Nola's POV It was already night as the moon shone brightly outside. “Moon goddess give me your blessings” i prayed in my heart before tiptoeing out of my room, looking left and right to ensure I wasn't being watched, I made my way to the door. Tieing my long white hair in a bun above my shoulders to avoid being seen by the guards, I hid behind a huge vase at the entrance, thanks to my petite figure i didn't find it hard to hide myself. Three guards were standing at the exit, holding their swords on their right hand, they wore the same uniform but one could easily tell the difference between them. They were backing against the door making it easy for me to creep out jumping from vase to vase, stopping after every few moves to check if i was being monitored. I was almost at the rear end of the building where they was no guard positioned there wen my body mistakenly hit the large vase I was hiding behind making a loud sound that alerted the guards, I quickly held up the case before it would fall thereby exposing me. The guard who was appointed to go check out the noise got discouraged as the noise discontinued, I could hear him tell the other guards that it could be an animal of some sort. Beads of sweat gathered on my forehead, my heart threatened to escape from my chest as it was beating fast and hard, I could hear the sound of my heart beat. I said a quiet thank you prayer to the moon goddess as I ran out heading towards the forest, stoping and hiding at every pillar in my way. I was out of breath by the time I made it to the forest but I couldn't stop as I needed to get out of this place as fast as I can. My senses came alive in this forest as I held my breath while inhaling the scent of the forest suddenly, I sniffed a pleasant scent coming from the south of the forest. The scent of earth after rain is a scent I'm addicted to, as the earth always seemed calm during those period but who could posses such powerful scent as I was sure it had been long it rained in this part of the forest. I could sense I was drawing closer to the source as the scent became stronger, I was overwhelmed by it and didn't know wen I walked into bush of thorns. I struggled to free myself from it as it was prickling my skin, it was painful but I made no sound to avoid being discovered by anyone since I hadn't gone far away from the pack. I finally freed myself but my legs were bruised as blood dripped down from my wounds, I couldn't care less about them as I knew they'll in no time. All I could concentrate on now is this large wolf in front of me, his red eyes peering down at me, his brownish gold like fur under the moonlight reminded me so much of sunrise. His scent… oh! His scent, I closed my eyes and sniffed My nose as I wanted to feel my senses with more of his scent. He has such a powerful aura more powerful than that of Commander Marsh or that of Luna Aria or even more than the both combined. His red eyes commanded power “who could this wolf be?” I thought to myself “wait! What if he's one of the warriors?” I suddenly came back to my senses as my heart skipped a beat. LUCIAN'S POV “She's here! She's here!” Lan exclaimed excitedly as I stood before this petite figure. She looked like a goddess under the moon’s gaze, her white hair was tied up, revealing her slender neck and bare shoulders, her emerald eyes having flecks of silver in them as they seemed distant. Her maid uniform fitted her so perfectly one would think her measurements were taken for the dress to be made. She looked up at me seemingly searching for something but I couldn't place a finger on what it was. She suddenly closed her eyes as I could hear her sniff her nose. “Is she trying to inhale my scent? This girl is unbelievable” I muttered to myself but what could she be looking for but this time of the night? As she opened her eyes, I saw panic in them as she tried to run away, I immediately blocked her paths I looked down on the fresh bruises on her legs gotten from the thorn bush. “Don't tell me you are trying to escape” I asked trying to get her to talk, she immediately turned around on hearing my words trying to escape from me. I blocked her in the opposite direction. “Who are you?” She looked at me with eyes that seemed to never accept defeat. “You can never escape from the primordial pack” I said avoiding her questions. “ Your speed is nothing compared to an average warrior, you had better turn back” I advised. “Who are you to give me orders?” She barked. “She's a stubborn one” i said to myself. “I can take you back myself if I want to but I don't see any gain in doing such”. “It's better you go back yourself, you have no chance of escaping, don't make things worse than it already is”. “I see you were lucky to be taken in as a maid and not a slave, better go back if you don't want your status to change”. I don't know why I was taking my time to explain to her. I could hear Lan telling me not to let her go, I accept the fact that I also didn't want her to leave as wose things could happen to her out there. I saw her eyes calm down and her shoulders slumped as she looked at me like she wanted to say something but said nothing. “Can you help me escape?” She pleased looking up at me, making it hard for me to break contact with her eyes. “What?” I thought I was able to convince her to turn back, I don't know why I even bother. “I can't do nothing for you” i replied coldly. “if you're so stubborn and wouldn't heed my advice then the road is all yours” I shifted from her path. “Besides, where would you go from here?” I asked as she seemed lost in her thoughts. I got no reply as she turned back heading in the direction she came from.
