CHAPTER 7

1547 Words
NOLA'S POV “Don't tell me you're trying to escape” he said blocking my path. “What have I gotten myself into now?” I thought to myself. “If I had just gone on my way without following his scent, I would've been out of here by now. “Who are you?” I could sense no danger from him then what could he possibly want. I looked with brave eyes as I thought he would let me go if he sensed no fear emanating from me. “You better turn back because you will never escape the primordial pack, your speed is nothing compared even to that of an average warrior. “Who are you to give me orders?” I needed to get out of here before anyone realizes I'm gone. I listened to him advising me, clearly he's been here long enough to know this much about the primordial pack, I soon calmed down as I realize I have no chance of escaping, an idea suddenly struck me. “Can you please help me escape?” I asked with pleading eyes. “I can't do nothing for you, if you are so stubborn to not heed my advice then the road is all yours” he suddenly turned cold towards me. “Besides where would you go from here?” I had nowhere to go, I don't have a pack I belong to, no family, no nothing. I am left alone in this world with nothing but revenge to hold on to. Emptiness filled my heart as I turned to go back to the pack without giving him an answer. I started running towards the pack, seeing the familiar pillars in front of me, I stopped and hid in them one after the other. I stopped as I reached the last pillar before the Alpha's residenc, thinking of how to get in unnoticed I felt a grip on my shoulders. My heart almost jumped out of my mouth as I feared I had been discovered by one of the pack members. “I knew you would come back” this warm voice sounded so familiar I couldn't mistake it for anyone other than madam Daphne. “I- I- I, I was, I was just” beads of sweat gathered on my forehead as I stammered trying to give an explanation to madam Daphne, I opened my mouth to talk but no words came out. “Save your words child, tell me everything once we are inside but for now let's try to keep our of sight, come with me I know a secret passage way”. I was thankful to the moon goddess for bringing madam Daphne to save me, she always looks at me with warmth in her eyes like a mother to her child, reminding me of my mom. “Maybe this place isn't so bad afterall” madam Daphne took me through the back of the building as she opened a secret door leading downstairs to the basement. We went down quietly trying to reduce the creaking sounds the woods made with each step we took. Once we got down to the basement, madam Daphne brought out another bunch of keys as she led the way upstairs, she opened the door and the kitchen view came into sight. I sighed releasing the breath I didn't know I had been holding. I felt so relieved to be back into the building I tried escaping from few hours ago. “Thank you madam Daphne” I said with all sincerity from my heart. She smiled nodding her head “now go retire to your room, we will talk about the reason for your adventure tommorow”. I nodded as I exited the kitchen heading to my room, once I got into my room, I closed the door behind me as I heaved a sigh of relief. “Red eyes” I still can't get him off my mind, I wanted to perceive his scent again, his deep voice still resounding in my ears. “Who is he?” He seemed to avoid that question, he has the aura of a powerful Alpha warewolf, could he be an Alpha of another pack? I discarded the thought as I laid on the bed, my bruises were gone already as I closed my eyes trying to get some sleep. “I must see him again” I told myself before finally drifting to sleep. ****** ****** I woke up to the sounds of insect chirping as the sun was yet to rise, I stood up drowsily from the bed sleep still evident in my eyes. I had slept late last night as I couldn't get over those red eyes and here I am thinking about them again. It was a beautiful morning, a new day to start a new life but what is life going to look like here, with no freedom to train and to get stronger, my chances of revenge are slim. I hurriedly took my bath, dried myself and applied lotion to my body in order for me to resume my duties so as not to be seen as a lazy maid. I needed to get madam Daphne to like me much, she seemed to know this building like the back of her palms. I took the hair brush by the dressing table and bagan brushing my hair, I know this was going to slow me down as I paid much attention to my hair. I held my hair up tying it in a bun, “as a maid, your hair is not meant to flow pass your length or to be seen dangling across your face” madam Daphne had said, i put on the second pair of my maids uniform, wore my shoes as i dashed out heading towards the direction of the kitchen. There I met madam Daphne who seemed to be giving two other maids instructions, I waited for her to finish so as not to interrupt her. “Good morning madam Daphne” I greeted immediately she dismissed the other girls. “ Oh child I didn't see you standing there” her lips curved into a smile. “Come sit” she directed me to a wooden chair beside her. “We haven't introduced ourselves formally yet, why don't we start by you telling me your name and a little bit about yourself before I assign you your maid's duties”. “Oh… okay, there isn't really much to know about me” i smiled awkwardly. “Why don't we start with your name and pack first” “Ok, my name is Nola and I originally belong to the sigma pack before my pack and family were invaded and killed by the Blood moon pack, I was lucky to had escaped and was taken in by a group of Rouges but unfortunately your pack’s warriors invaded and destroyed everything, I wasn't lucky this time to escape” I added quickly trying not to bring back painful memories. “Oh dear, I'm so sorry about the pains we caused you” sincerity evident in her eyes. “You know Alpha Damien coronation is behind the corner and Luna Aria wants his name to be known far and wide before crowning him as Alpha. “What? That's a dumb excuse for killing” i blurted out. “I know child but don't say that to the hearing of others if you don't want to be in trouble” madam Daphne advised. “now tell me about your little adventure yesterday”. I bowed my head in shame as I didn't want her to see the emotions in my eyes, I was naive to have swung into action without proper planning. “I tried to escape last night but midway I realized I had nowhere to run to and it won't take the warriors much efforts to catch up with me”. “I'm sorry madam Daphne” I said looking up into her eyes to see if I could catch a glimpse of any emotion. I failed at that as I sensed she was a pro in masking emotions. “No need to be sorry child, I understand. I heard the large vase underneath my room’s window making some weird noises, so I peered down to see what was meddling with it only to find you at the scene. “I knew what you were up to immediately but decided not to raise an alarm as I was sure you would come back, so I set out to wait for you” she looked at me as if expecting me to say something. “ Tell me why you tried to escape” she finally asked. I knew that was what made her curious but I had many reasons running through my mind and I couldn't decide on what to tell her. “I was scared madam Daphne and running away was the only thing I could think of” I told her as I decided she doesn't need to know the full details. “Can I ask a favor from you madam Daphne?” I looked up pleadingly ensuring our eyes locked.
