Chapter 3 - Olivia

1026 Words
A few hours later, with enough money in my pocket, I go to the city, at the request of my grandmother. Unfortunately, I have no idea where I'm going. I just ran off in one direction and was hoping to arrive sometime in the city. As a familiar sentence says: 'All roads lead to Rome. 'I would not necessarily compare this city, but I can not think of a better comparison. Metaphors have never been for me. The leaves of the trees rush around me as a steady gust of wind sweeps through, and it almost sounds like they are singing a song for me. The wind whirls my blond, almost white, hair upside down and fogs me for a brief moment. When I rearranged my mane, suddenly a very different sound can be heard. It can be compared to the noise that occurs when something moves faster than it may be good for the human eye. I swallow. So something similar I have heard so far only in films. To assign it, therefore, is difficult for me. Whether I should turn around to see what caused it, or simply go on and give it to another gust of wind, is a decision that takes me completely at that moment. After a few seconds, however, my curiosity wins and I drive around. There, I see nothing but a black patch that has disappeared before I can properly scrutinize it. So fast that I even start to doubt if he was really there. Maybe I was just too mad, and it was just some shade that a treetop projected. I turn around again and go on fast. But still I can not hide the cracking of the branches behind me. Instinctively I accelerate my step. Actually, I'm not afraid, but that's kind of weird. Only since a few hours I am here and find this city already funny. Already the name "Death Hollow" says it all. No place with the word "death" in its name can be completely good and free of all evil. Again there is a cracking sound and I'm getting even faster. Now I almost run. That there is nobody behind me, I know exactly, but these sounds make me uncertain. No one can be there, and I know that very well, I'm not hallucinating. I have never done that. Somehow I just do not feel like shopping anymore in the city. I just want to find another person who tells me that I have not gone crazy or a sign that this is a dream. And actually, after some time, I find someone. On a park bench, a few meters in front of me, sits a girl. She has white headphones in her ears and drums on the floor with her right foot, as if the rhythm had gone into her blood. The closer I get to her, the more details I can see. Her Teng is tanned, but that does not seem to stem from visits to the tanning salon. The light tan seems to be more of a natural origin. I wish I was blessed, too. My own skin is so pale that in the summer I tend to blind my counterpart. Her dark brown hair goes up to her shoulder blades. She wears a short black top and a boyfriend jeans in exactly the same color. On her feet she wears white shoes that do not match the rest of her outfit. "Hello?", I try to draw her attention to me. She just keeps listening to her music and does not seem to notice me. Now I am faced with the decision. Should I really bother her or just keep going and see if I can find someone else who might be from here. Although certainly not many tourists hang around here. Really attractive, the place is not exactly. I decide after a few seconds to draw their attention to me. So I put myself right in their field of view and repeat what I have already said: "Hello?" This time she reacts to my surprise. Honestly, I had not expected it. After all, that means that she sees me, not that she has mercy on me and talks to me. I already knew enough people of this kind. She raises her head and takes the plugs out of her ear: "Hello?" There is interest in her tone, but it is also to her that she is a little annoyed. "I wanted to ask if you could tell me how to get to the city center," I stammer lightly. Here comes my shyness, which always come in when I talk to strangers in strange places, to the fore. I also do not know why I litter the girl. After all, we are about the same age. She, too, seems to have been disconcerted: "Uh, yes, if you go in that direction for a few minutes, you arrive in the center after a few minutes." Fortunately, she does not win me over. "Thank you," I say quickly, giving her a small smile before heading off in the direction she showed her. I notice that I was not so wrong. The approximate direction has already voted and at least I have not strayed off the road. In Canada vacation I've really done that. Luckily my sister found me somehow, how she did that is still a mystery to me, and also brought my father. As I continue to think about the strange noises that I either heard or imagined, I always walk along the path the girl has told me. And in fact, after a few more minutes, I already see the first shops that tell me that it has to be the city center. And I also recognize the road again, which I'm real wonder, as bad as I can remember ways. Grandma's house is not far away. A satisfied smile appears on my lips and all the thoughts I've just made seem to have swept out of my head. Instead of these, I now feel an excited tingling in my heart and suddenly feel the urge to explore the city.
