We left the coffee shop.
"Come on Yara. Follow your soul. You can find me." My head ached but as soon as the voice stopped talking I was fine.
We were arriving at Muriel's house. We went through a second door to a very joyful and colorful room. There was a big picture of a tall fine lady sitting in front of a piano. The sunset was beautifully captured at the last moment of dawn. I was mesmerized by that painting. Muriel looked at me all seriously and said: One day we will be there too.
-Where?
-At our favorite place.
-Explain, please.
-Well, we are special creatures and we can choose our eternity. We are judged during this life and then they give us a permit to stay in the eternity that we love.
Orna was burning some bay leaves. They had a nice aroma and I started to feel sleepy.
-Don't sleep, Yara. You don't wanna look disrespectful in front of my grandma?
-Oh my god, sorry! Will she wake up now?
-Wait, you baby: -smiled Muriel.
The piano started playing. My favorite part was: Per Elizabeth! No one was touching the piano. The sea waves were moving backward because we felt a soft wind touching our faces. We were now inside the painting. The fine lady was now standing with a big smile and shiny eyes looking toward us. She was wearing a light blue floral dress that covered only one shoulder. She had delicate, white skin. Her left arm was made of white, transparent pearls which changed colors and became pink when we approached her. She hugged Muriel and then each one of us. It was a cold and warm feeling at the same time. Muriel's grandma was called Azura. She was a French lady member of the Grimaldi Royal Family. We bowed down and after one second Muriel was hugging her dearly.
-Hello girls! I was waiting to meet you, Yara.
Why did her voice sound familiar too? I didn’t have time to think about it. She changed the season and the place. We were now in the forest. The same forest I had near my house. I was not sure in fact if it was the same place because I could hear the waves.
Milady started telling us the story of our kind. That story that I always refused to know.
Everything started 700 years ago. Rosse was in love with Albert. She was the happiest woman in that small province. Albert would take permission to marry her from his mother. She went to the sea that morning and sang beautifully. Her voice was so sweet that the most powerful creatures of the sea would listen to it and feel joy. She was the one that tames the sea. That's what they would say. After she gave birth, everything started to go well for that small province. Since she always carried flowers on her head, people called her Rosse even though she was born as Raisel. She stood there and started talking to the sea. Even though the sea had been calm for so many years now, she never met those mythical creatures about whom many stories were told. She was born in a small boat with her father, while her mother lived in a small room. They were poor but they loved each other deeply. People would say that no other woman has given birth on the sea and from the day she was born, the sea took human form and brought Rosse with the baby to the shore. They named her Marilla because she was glowing and smiling like no other child. From the moment she was born, everything started to go well for their family. They became rich and their people entrusted their place to them. Their God, Sorin, gave her the power to control the sea creatures because he knew she would be able to protect both of her people and let them live in peace. She was the chosen one. Even though she was chosen, she never changed. She was rich and powerful, and she would help at the school by teaching children who couldn’t see or couldn’t talk, or walk. People loved her. She was sitting on the sand when, unconsciously, she wrote Lir with her fingers in the sand. It looked like the sea came closer at that moment and touched her. She was surprised and laughed bubbly. While she was leaving, she said to the sea: I will be leaving soon. I am marrying the man of my dreams. Please continue to be good to my people.
Muriel's grandma stopped. She started to become transparent, but Muriel wasn't worried a single bit. As I freaked out, she told us.
- That's it for today, girls. I am weak now. So many years have passed. I need to gain my serendipity. The time was too short today. I will guide you to a book to find out why. Please find Anna at the library and she will give you this book.
While she was saying these words, she disappeared and the aroma of burnt bay leaves filled the room.

Everything didn't feel real. The time hadn't passed a single second. I was very confused. Orna and Muriel started planning how they would meet Anna, and what she might look like.
- Girls! What is going on?
- Sorry, Yara! My grandma needs our help. I have only three chances to meet her and I have already burnt one. We need to know the whole story. The last time I saw her in my dreams, she was very worried. Something big is going to happen and we already know nothing. I am scared.
- Don't be scared. Our kind has been in trouble before. We know how to save our species. We have done it before. Milady is legendary among us, even though she never displayed the begging of us.
- Orna, you got me even more confused. Thank you!
- Don't worry Yara. We will meet Anna at the library. I am sure she would be the one finishing the story, since Milady is feeling weak these days. We also need to find a way to stay more in her universe. As you know, Yara, we never die. We just change universes.
I nodded. Now, I have decided not to be surprised anymore. I was special. All the connection I felt with the forest and the sea was my destiny. Accepting it would only make it easier. After all, I was a teenager. My head was messed up enough. I closed my eyes, too tired to continue with my thoughts. I could smell roses and hear the waves in my pearly dreams.
