“Where are we going, Damone?” Kaia questioned as she followed the large lycan down the hallway. The large man was even an intimidating presence down the glowing marble halls casting a heaving shadow amongst the light airy place. He had claimed on giving her a proper tour of the Kingdom since she arrived but that was a while ago and now when he led her around the place, checking all the grand rooms each were as spectacularly decorated as she expected. It had taken them all morning to look over the place and it had seemed rushed.
“I have something to show you” he spoke continuing his way down the hall till they finally reached a doorway. Two large double doors with golden swirled handles. Kaia looked on curiously and thought as long as Actaeon wasn't sitting on the other side of the door she didn't care too much “you are going to be introduced as the Luna here, Kaia” he began explaining as he pushed open the doors. It wasn't overly grand inside, a smaller room with bookshelves, a desk and a small sitting area by a brick fireplace. A stunning blonde woman was sitting by the fireplace her eyes on a book in her clasp “you are very well versed in how you speak and your formalities but there are many responsibilities here that you have to learn. I had wanted you to come here when you were fifteen to start your studies but my son insisted you have some life experience first though seems he changed his mind now” Damone smiled and Kaia could only force a smile back the mere thought of Actaeon made her want to vomit, no doubt the reason he wanted to delay her coming was only to benefit himself “anyway... This is Ms Everett” he introduced the woman. She stood from her seat, she was undoubtedly older than the Alpha himself, she carried herself with grace as she practically glided towards them, she was absolutely beautiful with not even a hair out of place “she will be your tutor” he continued smiling. Kaia nodded in understanding she figured this would happen eventually.
“Future Luna” the woman spoke with a gentle bow of her head. Kaia only nodded in response unsure how to proceed under the woman’s curious gaze.
“Ma Everett worked with my mother, trained my wife and now will train you. She is very good and I’m sure you will have no trouble” Damone encouraged. Kaia was more surprised the woman was old enough to work with Damone’s mother “alright, I will leave. Kaia you will have to meet with Ms Everett twice a week understand?”
“Yes”
“Good, I will see you both later” he smiled at the pair. Once he left Ms Everett let out a sigh as she eyed Kaia over, those crystal blue eyes almost taking in the depth of her soul.
“We have a short amount of time to get everything done so you must pay attention closely and prepare for hard work” Ms Everett instructed, “now let’s get started.”
:::
She wasn’t kidding when she said it would be hard work she wasn’t kidding. Twice a week she was studying all the ins and outs to be the Luna of the Lycans, other days she had to study books of the history and laws of the land and in between those days she would train. Her days were relentlessly busy and she found it hard to find a moment to herself but she was thankful not having to see Actaeon though she hadn’t heard from his cousin Valen either who was still away. Deep inside it caused her great worry but it was simply something she had to push aside and focus on what needed doing.
Days seemed to feel longer as she raced from one end of the castle to the other and by nightfall, she was limping back to her room and collapsing onto the bed already practically unconscious when hitting the sheets. It wasn’t much different when she was made to have dinner with the Alpha, Actaeon, The Beta, his wife and some close allies. It didn’t matter how she sat perfectly in her chair, how she could use the cutlery correctly it didn’t change the fact that they looked at her like an outsider. Not involved on the inside of the place, out of touch with the going ons. Even worse she had to sit next to Actaeon who barely regarded her only for a harsh squeeze on her thigh. She just had to sit there with the feeling of wishing she had a lighter to burn where he even touched just to get rid of his disgusting presence from her skin “Will you be attending the Blood moon festival, future Luna?” one of the other Luna’s questioned her perfectly shaped brow arched in interest.
“What’s the Blood moon festival?” she questioned. Kaia hadn’t heard of it frankly she hadn’t heard of many things, especially festivals and celebrations. Her life with her mother was a sheltered one and the life she was starting to lead here was seeming to be much the same. Kaia was wondering if perhaps her destiny was to be akin to Repunzel in a tower. Everyone at the table chuckled at her question and Kaia had no doubt the woman did it on purpose. Damone was quick to jump in but it was Actaeon’s words that hit her.
“Don’t be so harsh on her” he acted so sympathetically “Kaia is still so new here and has yet to adjust” it hit her it’s what he wanted to keep reminding everyone. She was the outsider here, she wasn’t from here, she was a stranger to these lands and how can anyone look at a Luna with respect and acceptance if she was still viewed as though she didn’t belong.
