Three years ago, Pia Sanders, the bright, free-spirited chairwoman of the International Dance Association, lost her leg in a car crash.

Everyone said this bright sunflower had finally wilted for good. But Pia stayed exactly the same as she’d always been. She even fell in love with skydiving and mountain climbing.

What made everyone even more envious was that her husband, Arkin, the cold, perfectionist CEO, still doted on her to the bone, adored the very ground she walked on.

That all changed the day Pia got a call from Marco, Arkin’s best friend.

"Pia! Arkin hit someone in a car crash on the south side of the city. The victim has Rh-negative blood, same as you. They’ve lost so much blood they’re minutes from death! You need to get to Central Hospital right now to donate!”

Pia loved a certain dessert that was only sold on the south side of the city, and Arkin went there every single day to stand in line for hours just to buy it for her.

There was no question about it, he’d only gone to the south side to get her dessert.

When she got to the hospital, they drew 800cc of blood from her in the collection room. Her face drained of all color, and she nearly passed out right there.

Pity flickered in Marco’s eyes as he pulled out a stack of documents.

"Pia, these are Arkin’s medical bills. We just need your signature on them."

Weak and wobbly, Pia grabbed the pen and signed her name without a second glance at the papers.

Right after Marco left, Pia noticed Arkin had left his hospital card behind.

She immediately wheeled herself after him as fast as she could.

She got up to the stairwell landing and was just about to call out to him when she heard voices, "I got her to sign the divorce papers. If anyone finds out I tricked her into signing, I can kiss my law license goodbye."

Pia froze.

Before she could even wrap her head around what she’d just heard, Arkin’s cold, sharp voice cut through the air.

"Ava's pregnant. I promised I'd marry her, so I have no choice but to divorce Pia for now. I couldn't bear to watch Pia get her blood drawn, that's why I needed you to handle this for me."
