"I have trouble telling people how I feel."
I look away towards Skylar and see the large ice cream cone she seems to be holding in her hands.
"Dude, did he just invite you to a bonfire?" Skylar says astonished and I nod, both of us sitting on the ground.
"Should we go?" I pick on my nails gently as Skylar keeps eating her food.
"Hell yeah! We would be so dumb if we didn't attend it." She smiles brightly and expects me to agree to this. You wish, there's a ninety percent chance that Jacob didn't do this at his own will.
"I mean, I don't know any of these people but lets do it." Skylar cheers and we both pick up our things and carry them to my car. When we're done, I walk over to where Jacob is standing.
"So did you make up your mind?" He says optimistically and I nod. Suddenly his face lights up as if I just saved him from a nearing hurricane.
"What?!" Jacob says in a rush as if I'll change his whole fortune.
"Um, you know what? I'm going to join you if you don't mind." I say apprehensively and Jacob smiles.
"Yeah sure. You and your friend can help us with collecting some wood from the forest nearby." Jacob offers. I look back at Skylar and she walks over to me.
Jacob shows us where his friends are. Also where Colton is. I shudder at the thought.
"Guys, this is Olivia." He introduces me and instantly I feel people looking at me and especially one pair of eyes which belongs to Colton.
"So there will be two groups. One group gets the food from the nearby store which is three blocks away and the other one will get wood from the forest." People start going into groups and me and Skylar decide to get the food.
I'm not interested in going to a creepy ass place surrounded by 14 foot tall trees. I'm good on actual land.
We start walking towards the store and within some minutes, me and Skylar are standing in a cheap store which smells like old books. I kinda like that smell.
After getting some food,marshmallows mostly, we walk back and soon we're on the beach. The sun is setting and the boys are back with the wood and we're staring to prepare for the bonfire.
"Hi! I heard you're new here." An annoying perky voice screeches behind me and I turn around to find the not so unpopular girlfriend of Colton. Oh my god, what does she want now?
"Yeah, you heard that right." I reply politely trying to get the f**k away from her as fast as I can.
"So my name is Catherine Kingston if you haven't heard already. I'm the captain of the cheer team and I'm dating the captain of the football team which as you may know is Colton Brennan." Catherine introduces herself and I internally flinch. Like I want to know that stuff.
"Oh, I didn't know that actually." I say struggling to keep the sarcasm out of my voice. I give her a small smile as I take my time to look over at her.
A blonde who's like 5 foot 3 inches with an awesome figure and loads of friends not counting that she is also the captain of the cheer team. Ha, she's that basic b***h in every high school. Let's get ready to hear her fake welcome speech then.
"I just wanted to say that you're really pretty and for some reason many guys can't stop looking and talking about you behind your back. I mean, you're not even that pretty if you ask me like you're a basic girl never-mind in front of me you look so weird!" She finishes off with a yell and I stand looking at her realizing this girl has no IQ.
I fold my arms and look over to Skylar who stands there with her mouth wide open. Looks like she didn't see that coming.
"Cool but all of it was inaccurate." I smirk as she stares at me like I'm the snake she has just encountered. Whatever.
I walk away and approach Skylar who looks like she's going to have a fit.
"God no. I was so done when she started babbling from that dumb mouth of hers." Skylar rolls her eyes and I chuckle lightly.
"Guys it's time to light the bonfire!" Jacob announces and pulls a lighter out of his pocket. Out of the corner of my eyes, I see Colton looking at me with a smile on his face.
Within minutes, a fire is roaring between us and people start playing music. Guess it's one of the bonfire parties then.
I grab a donut and sit on a huge piece of wood, wondering how the f**k did I get here. People are dancing and talking all around me. I need to leave.
"Hey, is everything okay?" Someone asks and sits right next to me. Colton passes me a small smile as I shrug and continue to eat. Oh my god, this is so awkward can I leave or some s**t?
"Yeah." I say in a meek tone and look around to find Skylar drinking heavily. Looks like I'm going to be her designated driver tonight. I finish my donut and stand up, Colton doing the same.
"Thank Jacob from my side for inviting me. I'll take my leave now." I turn back and walk towards Skylar without waiting for a reply.
I grab her by her shoulders and the heavy smell of alcohol hits me. She whispers something to me and laughs loudly. Drunk people.
I wrap my arm around, making sure she doesn't fall and lead her back to my car. Never ever doing this again.
