Stranger On The Plane

An awkward silence between the two now estranged couple made Nancy hang up the phone abruptly. She was done listening to Peter's heavy breathing. Kimberly's facial expression could move a mountain as the disgust on her face grew more intense the longer Nancy stayed on the phone with Peter. As soon as Nancy got off the phone with Peter, Kimberly grabbed the phone from Nancy and blacklisted Peter immediately. "There you go, he doesn't ever have to bother you again," Kimberly threw the phone on the couch when she was done. "I wish it was as easy as that..." Nancy was explaining when her phone started to ring again. She rolled her eyes. It seemed as if she already knew the reason her phone was ringing. Nancy reluctantly walked over to the phone and looked at the caller. 'Dad!' Her heart skipped a beat because she knew it meant trouble. "What do you think you are doing, young woman?" Mr. Saint's voice reverberated through the speakers of the phone, and there was no doubt that the man was upset. "Dad..." Nancy stuttered. The Saint and Crochet family had been affiliated in business for a long time, and their children getting married to each other had always been the dream of both parents, especially the Saint family, because they had more to benefit from the Crochet family than the Crochet family had to benefit from them. Nancy breaking up with Peter Crochet was a big blow to Mr. Saint, so he called his daughter to set things straight with her. "Crochet said you left..." Mr. Saint sounded very upset. "Dad, he cheated!" Nancy yelped, stomping her foot angrily. "I cheated on your mother a couple of times but she never left me. She always forgave me, so why can't you forgive your fiance? Who do you think you are? The most beautiful girl in the world?" Mr. Saint refuted. Nancy glared at her father, shocked that the man could be of that opinion. He wanted her to sell her prestige to Peter Crochet all because of business ventures and alignment. "Go back to Peter immediately. I have told him to forgive you for walking out on him. Don't put the family name down. I've worked so hard to get here. Don't ruin my plans because of ordinary cheating." Mr. Saint banged the phone on Nancy as soon as he was done speaking. Nancy stared ahead of her in astonishment. Did her father just chew and spit her out like mere garbage all because of a man with money and influence? Tears welled up her eyes as she gazed into thin air, gradually shifting her focus on Kimberly who was now standing right in front of her, wanting to know what the conversation with her father was all about. From the feeling of Nancy's aura and the tears in her eyes, she could tell that the conversation did not favor Nancy in any way. "What did your father say?" Kimberly looked as if she had been beating up Mr. Saint if she heard that he said something wrong to his daughter, Nancy. "He is all about his gain as always. I'm tired of him. I wish I could disappear," Nancy whined and buried her head into Kimberly's body. "You wish? Is anyone holding you back?" Kimberly asked suggestively. Nancy, who had been whining into Kimberly's body, suddenly paused. It was as if Kimberly sparked an idea in her. She could disappear into thin air. "Bright idea," she muttered, sniffing and raising her head from Kimberly's body. The following morning, Nancy was on a flight abroad. The only person that knew where Nancy would be was Kimberly. Nancy saw it as an opportunity to stay away from her family, her ex-fiance, and his best friend Drew Caleb, whom she had mistakenly slept with. Nancy heaved a tired sigh that was glazed with relief as she sat in the aircraft, waiting for the flight to take off. She put on a cat nap, glad that the seat beside her was going to be empty, giving her more room to feel at home on the flight, when she heard a deep voice say to her, "Excuse me miss, I need to take this seat." Nancy's purse was on the seat beside her because she was sure that nobody would take that seat, so she quickly snapped open her cat nap and was about to lift her purse when she spotted the person who had just spoken to her. Drew Caleb! She swallowed hard in confusion. The handsome, tall, and astute young man stood over her with his lips arched to a corner. He could feel her discomfort heavily, just by him standing next to her. After what seemed like an eternity, Nancy lifted her purse and adjusted herself, leaving enough room for Drew to sit in and for her to be as far away from him as possible. There would be no physical contact throughout that twelve-hour flight, as far as she was concerned. A twelve-hour flight? Thinking of it critically, Nancy realized just how much trouble she was in. Now, more than ever, she wished she could talk to Kimberly, but of course, there was no way to do that on an aircraft. She was all alone, stuck in an aircraft beside the man she had supposedly mistakenly slept with. Her ex-fiancee's best friend. The relationship between Nancy Saint and Peter Crochet was hanging by a thread. Even though she knew that she was fully done with the engagement, she also had it at the back of her mind that Peter Crochet was not one to give in so easily, and the fact that her father wanted their relationship to continue by all means would make it even more difficult for her to call it quits. Even more, the dreaded act had happened between her and Drew Caleb. Nancy could sense a war coming. An intense war of emotional turmoil.
